There was panic in the aviation sector after a bomb threat was received on an international flight coming from Bahrain to Hyderabad. According to information given by officials, Gulf Air flight number GF 274, which was flying from Bahrain to Shamshabad Airport (Rajiv Gandhi International Airport) in Hyderabad, was diverted towards Mumbai due to security reasons.

Early Tuesday morning officials received information that there was a bomb on the plane. As soon as the threatening call was received, security agencies and Air Traffic Control (ATC) immediately swung into action. As a precaution, the pilot was instructed to land at the nearby Mumbai airport instead of Hyderabad. The plane made a safe landing at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 4:20 am.

Immediately after landing, the aircraft was taken to an isolated bay of the airport. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the bomb disposal squad surrounded the plane and launched a massive search operation. All passengers and crew members were brought down safely. According to Telugu media reports, a thorough investigation was conducted inside the plane and in the luggage hold. As per security protocol, passengers’ luggage was also re-screened.

The impact of this incident was also seen at Shamshabad Airport in Hyderabad. As soon as the news of the flight being diverted was received, high alert was declared at the airport. In this, the movement of workers, employment and even their right to leave the country was also controlled. The objective behind implementing this was to skill the recruitment process of foreign workers and also to shift the bureaucratic responsibilities from the governments to the employers. This placed restrictions on labor rights and forced workers into working conditions that are now compared to modern slavery.

In which countries this system is still operational

Despite mild reforms, the Kafala system still exists in Qatar. Earlier, workers needed a no objection certificate to change jobs and an exit permit to leave the country. Although many of these restrictions have now been relaxed, steps are being taken slowly towards complete reform. Minimum wage laws and better job mobility have been implemented but implementation is still inconsistent.

Along with this, the residence of a worker in UAE depends on his employer. However, there are gradual changes in labor laws here too, especially in the private sector. Now it is possible to change employer here under certain conditions. Similarly, this system was partially reformed in Bahrain in 2009. In which the purpose was transferred from individual companies to the Labor Market Regulatory Authority. GCC is going to start testing single integrated tourist visa this year. After this, there will be no need to take separate visas to roam in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Indians will directly benefit the single integrated tourist visa, as a large number of people from India go to these countries of Arabs for employment and tourism. Abdullah bin Tauk al Marri, the UAE economy minister and president of the Emirates Tourism Council, confirmed this pilot project during World Tourism Day 2025.

‘Pilot will be fully implemented after phase’
In an interview to UAE’s news agency WAM, Al Marri said that this visa system will be fully implemented after the pilot phase. It is being called GCC Grand Tourist Visa. The official launch date of this visa has not been announced yet. The integrated GCC tourist visa YajiCC Grand Tourist Visa is based on Europe’s Schengen visa system, which allows travelers to move freely in many countries using the same permit.

The UAE government says that this visa is a strategic step towards regional integration. It will increase collective attraction as a single tourist destination of the Gulf region. CBI Files Chargesheet: The Central Investigation Agency (CBI) has filed a charge sheet against two Indian citizens Indrajit Singh and Subhash Chandra Mahla in two separate murder cases. After a request from both countries, the CBI started a local prosecution and after a thorough investigation, a charge sheet was filed in the CBI court of Delhi.

The accused murdered another Indian citizen after a loan of 300 Dirham

The first case was registered against Inderjit Singh in the case of murder of Indian citizen Rama Lingam in Abu Dhabi, UAE under Section 302 of IPC i.e. murder. Investigation revealed that Rama Lingam used to sell international SIM cards in Abu Dhabi and Indrajit Singh used to buy SIM on borrowing from him. Gradually, Indrajit got a debt of 300 Dirham.

After this, when Rama Lingam asked the person who gave Indrajit the money to be deducted from his salary, Indrajit got angry and planned the murder. Seeing the opportunity on August 28, 2008, Indrajit attacked Rama Lingam with a knife, killing him.

The CBI has filed a charge sheet against Indrajit Singh in a special court of Delhi after getting approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Indian citizen murdered his owner in Bahrain in 2011

The second case is from Bahrain, where Indian citizen Subhash Chandra Mahala killed his owner. On the request of the Bahrain government, India’s Foreign Ministry submitted this case to the CBI.

CBI investigation revealed that Subhash used to work as a driver there and was troubled by his boss’s behavior. On January 31, 2011, when his owner was alone, Subhash attacked him with something heavy. He suffered serious injuries and lost his life.

In this case too, the CBI gathered evidence and took approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs and then filed a charge sheet in the CBI court of Delhi.

CBI can prosecute Indians who commit crimes abroad

It is noteworthy that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is the agency of the Government of India, which can prosecute Indian citizens abroad. The CBI along with the Ministry of External Affairs asked for necessary evidence from UAE and Bahrain, which can be produced in the court according to Indian law.
