Rebel TMC MPs To Support NDA: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has suffered a major setback. 20 MPs of the party have written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressing their desire to join the NDA. According to news agency PTI, Kakoli Dastidar said that 20 MPs including him have decided to support the BJP-led NDA.

Big blow to Mamta

Kakoli Dastidar said that he accepts the election results of West Bengal and believes that his political future is more secure with the NDA. Earlier, amid speculations of a split in the party, 16 TMC MPs led by Sukhendu Roy and Kakoli Dastidar had met Suvendu Adhikari.

If there is a split among the rebel MLAs of Trinamool Congress (TMC), then the anti-defection law will not apply to them. According to the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution, at least 19 TMC MPs in the Lok Sabha will have to leave the party, only then this provision will be considered effective.

Earlier, Sukhendu Roy had resigned from the Rajya Sabha membership from Trinamool Congress, alleging that the Mamata Banerjee-led government was indulging in corruption and atrocities against women.

Rebel MPs wrote a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker

These MPs have also written a letter to the Speaker for the arrangement of separate sitting in the Lok Sabha. The MPs who met Shubhendu Adhikari include Kakoli Dastidar, Partha Bhowmik, Jagdish Basunia, Dev, Shatabdi Roy, Rachna Banerjee, Kalipada Soren, Arup Chakraborty, Asit Mal, Shatrughan Sinha, Prasun Banerjee, Pratima Mondal and Bapa Halidar.

Rebel TMC MPs met Bhupendra Yadav

Trinamool Congress president Mamata Banerjee, party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and several senior MPs attended the meeting of leaders of the opposition ‘India’ alliance. The 14 Lok Sabha MPs of TMC who participated in the meeting held with Suvendu Adhikari today at 9, Motilal Nehru Marg, include Kakoli Dastidar, Shatabdi Roy, Bapi Halder, Arup Chakraborty, June Malih, Deepak Adhikari, Kalipada Soren, Jagdeep Basunia, Asit Mal, Abu Taher, Khalilur Rahman, Sharmila Sarkar, Prasun Banerjee and Partho Bhowmik.

Ritabrata Banerjee Education: Ritabrata Banerjee, who was expelled from Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress, has become the leader of opposition in the West Bengal Assembly. In the West Bengal Assembly, Speaker Rathindra Basu, while accepting the letters of support submitted by the rebel MLAs, handed over the keys of the room allotted for the opposition leaders to Ritabrata Banerjee. After this, Ritabrata Banerjee told the media that two-thirds of the MLAs who won on TMC tickets are united. We have the support of 60 MLAs, two MLAs are currently out of the state. We will face BJP strongly in the House. Apart from this, Ritabrata Banerjee also appealed to Mamata Banerjee to become the advisor of the parliamentary party. In such a situation, Ritabrata Banerjee started being discussed loudly in the capital of West Bengal. Let us now tell you how educated Ritabrata Banerjee is, who has broken Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress.

Who is Ritabrata Banerjee?

Ritabrata Banerjee has been elected MLA from Uluberia Purba assembly in West Bengal on TMC ticket. He has defeated Rudra Prosad Banerjee of BJP on this seat. Before this, he had also been a Rajya Sabha MP twice. However, earlier he had become MP not from TMC but from CPI(M) in 2017. After this he joined TMC and became a Rajya Sabha MP from the party for 15 months.

How educated is Ritabrata Banerjee?

Ritabrata Banerjee was born in 1979 in a Bengali family in Kolkata. He started his schooling from South Point School. Apart from this, he did his graduation from Ashutosh College, Kolkata. It is said that at this time he became a member of SFI and started participating in party programs. After graduation, Ritabrata Banerjee took admission in Kolkata University and obtained MA degree in English Literature.

Also read-DU Recruitment 2026: Bumper recruitment in Delhi University, salary will be up to Rs 1 lakh; Apply by 25th June

Ritabrata Banerjee contested elections for the first time in 2011

It is said that Ritabrata Banerjee became the National General Secretary of SFI during his MA degree. By then he had also established his identity as one of the prominent young faces of CPM. After this, his closeness with many leaders increased and CPM made him its candidate for Kolkata South Lok Sabha seat in 2011. That seat was vacant due to the resignation of Mamata Banerjee, although Ritabrata Banerjee lost that election, but keeping faith in him, the party sent him to the Rajya Sabha in 2014.

Former Chief Minister of West Bengal and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee released a video message of about 32 minutes on 24 May 2026. This message was addressed to the people of Bengal and TMC workers. This video came at a time when TMC faced a big defeat in the 2026 assembly elections and BJP won the Falta seat with a thumping victory. In the video, Mamata Banerjee appeared in a calm but very strict and emotional manner. He refused to accept the election results as the real decision of the public and alleged that there was large-scale rigging, violence and interference by the central government in the elections.

Mamata Banerjee claimed that EVM data was tampered with during the elections and the results were manipulated. She alleged that on many seats the results were suddenly changed in the later rounds. She also said that TMC agents were thrown out of the counting centre, their workers were beaten up at many places and people from the BJP IT cell allegedly accessed the data system. Mamata claimed that her party had won the election morally, but was shown defeat due to rigging.

Accusation of action against TMC workers

In her message, Mamata Banerjee said that more than 2,500 TMC workers were arrested after the elections. He alleged that party offices were attacked and looting was done at many places. He said that elected institutions like Panchayat, Municipality and Kolkata Municipal Corporation are being prevented from functioning. According to him, the central government is also interfering in administration and development works.

Accused of creating an atmosphere of violence and fear

Mamta Banerjee said that violence took place at many places after the elections. He alleged that people’s homes were attacked, women were misbehaved and those protesting were intimidated. He also accused the police of working in favor of the BJP and said that an atmosphere of fear and pressure was being created in the state.

Sharp attack on BJP government

Mamata Banerjee accused BJP of turning Bengal into a police state and goon rule. He said that his government always gave the opposition a chance to work, but now politics of revenge is being played. He also raised the issue of culture and traditions of Bengal. Mamata alleged that the new government is trying to weaken Bengali identity and cultural programs.

Trinamool will never bow down – Mamata Banerjee

In her message, Mamata Banerjee appealed to the party workers to maintain courage. She said that Trinamool Congress will continue the struggle and will never bow down. She also said that she will remain continuously connected with the people through social media and Facebook Live, because the mainstream media has become biased. At the end of the video, Mamata Banerjee talked about continuing the fight within the ambit of the Constitution and thanked her supporters.

BJP leader Subhendu Adhikari will take oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal on Saturday (9 May 2026). A possible list of which other leaders will be included in Shubhendu’s cabinet has also been revealed. There has been no official announcement from BJP yet, but names of many big leaders of the party have appeared in the list of possible ministers. According to sources, senior BJP leaders Agnimitra Paul, Rupa Ganguly, Dilip Ghosh, Swapan Dasgupta, Shankar Ghosh, Sardutt Mukherjee, Indranil Kha and Ajit Kumar Jana may get a place in Shubhendu Adhikari’s cabinet. All these leaders have been active in the party for a long time and have been playing an important role in strengthening BJP in West Bengal.

Apart from this, names of some other leaders are also in discussion, who can be given responsibility in the new government. These include Dipanjan Chakraborty, Jewel Murmu, Naman Rai, Deepak Burman, Sajal Ghosh and Bankim Ghosh. Party insiders say that the cabinet can be formed keeping in mind the social and regional balance.

Faces associated with film and cultural world can also be seen in the new government. Actors Rudranil Ghosh, Rathindranath Basu and Jagannath Chattopadhyay are also likely to be included in the cabinet. BJP is going to form the government in West Bengal for the first time, hence the party wants to prepare such a cabinet which has political experience along with representation of different sections. This government formed under the leadership of Subhendu Adhikari is considered to be a big change in the politics of West Bengal. Now everyone’s eyes are on which leaders get a place in the final list and who is given which department.

Which party won how many seats in Bengal elections

Bharatiya Janata Party has achieved a big victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026. By winning 206 seats, BJP has achieved more than two-third majority in the assembly. With this, the 15-year-old rule of Trinamool Congress in the state has come to an end. This election was the first election held after the Special Intensive Revision of Voter List i.e. SIR. Trinamool Congress had suffered a major setback in the election results. The party could win only 80 seats and is leading on one seat. Out of the total 293 assembly seats in the state, the results of 292 seats have been declared. Talking about other parties, Congress has got 2 seats. Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) has also won 2 seats. Whereas CPI(M) was successful in winning only 1 seat.

Mamata Banerjee: Recently assembly elections were held in West Bengal. But when the results came on May 4, 2026, there was more talk of defeat than victory in political circles. BJP hoisted the flag of victory in Bengal by securing more seats than the majority.

At the same time, after being the Chief Minister (Bengal CM) for three consecutive terms, Mamata Banerjee had to face a crushing defeat. After the victory of BJP and the defeat of Trinamool Congress (TMC), there is an atmosphere of happiness and sadness in West Bengal. But this is being seen for the first time when in politics, the defeat of any party has become a topic of discussion more than the victory.

There is more talk of TMC’s defeat in Bengal than BJP’s victory.

Even after the results of the assembly elections in West Bengal, the political atmosphere is heated. The swearing-in ceremony of the new government (West Bengal CM Oath ceremony) is proposed in Bengal on Saturday, 9 May 2026. But TMC’s Mamata Banerjee was adamant that she has not lost and will not resign from the post of Chief Minister.

On this subject, Mamata says that – in view of the recent election results, she will not resign, because she believes that the votes were forcibly looted and the entire voting process was rigged. Therefore, even after losing the West Bengal Assembly elections, he has refused to resign from the post of Chief Minister (Mamata Banerjee Resignation).

Meanwhile, according to the latest information, the Governor of West Bengal has announced the dissolution of the Assembly. Let us tell you that on Thursday, May 7, 2026, the five-year tenure of the West Bengal Assembly had ended. In such a situation, the Assembly was dissolved as per constitutional rules, so that any kind of legal crisis does not arise. Now it will not make any difference whether Mamata Banerjee resigns or not.

Mamata Banerjee’s insistence on not resigning even after the election results and her stubborn nature remains a topic of discussion all around. If we look at it from an astrological point of view, astrology expresses a person’s emotions as well as emotions.

The position of the planets is responsible for good and bad emotions. For example, if the mind is stable then the Moon in the horoscope is auspicious and if it is unstable then the Moon is inauspicious. Similarly, the inauspicious position of some planets plays a role in making a person’s self-consciousness angry, stubborn and harsh.

Mars- Due to the ill effects of Mars in the horoscope, situations like anger, excessive impulsiveness and resentment, fierceness in emotions and tension in relationships can arise in the person.

Saturn- If Saturn is not auspicious, it creates fear, distrust, emotional distance, sadness and depression in the person.

Rahu- The inauspiciousness of shadow planet Rahu creates feelings like illusion, illusion, attachment and getting trapped in wrong relationships.

Bengal Election: A historic political change has been seen in the assembly elections of West Bengal. Bharatiya Janata Party has formed the government in the state for the first time. After almost 15 years of dominance by Mamata Banerjee and TMC, BJP was successful in penetrating the political fort which was once considered almost impenetrable. While rallies, road shows and grassroots campaigns played their role, it is also being said that this time the real battlefield was social media.

The digital war behind the elections

Unlike traditional election campaigns which depended only on rallies and public meetings, in this election a digital strategy was also implemented parallel to the grassroots campaign. According to media reports, BJP’s digital team was working in many 4 star and 5 star hotels located across the state about 4 months before the elections.

From here, teams continuously created and posted content for social media platforms. The campaign materials, including videos, graphics and political messages, were designed to influence public opinion and maintain an online presence.

BJP’s digital strategy

According to media reports, this digital campaign was led by Amit Malviya. Amit Malviya is the head of BJP’s IT cell. Under his leadership, the party created an online network whose aim was to directly shape the political narrative in Bengal.

Instead of relying solely on traditional media coverage, the BJP focused on reaching out to voters through smartphones and social media platforms.

Also read: MLA is the king of his assembly constituency, from Inspector to Collector, know who can give orders?

Network of 3000 influencers

The biggest aspect of this campaign was to create a network involving more than 3000 social media influencers across the state. These included both small and big content creators active on platforms like Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

According to reports, it was necessary for influencers to have at least 5000 followers. Their role was to broadcast political messages, spread the election narrative and keep online discussions active throughout the election season.

youth outreach

The biggest advantage of BJP was that it was successful in connecting with young voters and people active on social media. Content spread through influencers spreads more quickly. This sounds more like his own than traditional political speeches. By having a consistent presence online, the party manages to dominate discussions, set the narrative and get its message across to voters again and again. In today’s politics, repeating something on social media and being visible often becomes as important as ground campaigning.

Election trends of 5 states including West Bengal have come, in which BJP government is clearly visible in three out of 5 states. If we talk about West Bengal, it is certain that Mamata Banerjee, who has been in power here for 15 years, will now lose her seat. According to the trends till 3.30 pm, TMC is leading on 91 seats and BJP is leading on 196 seats. In such a situation, politics regarding Jhalmuri and fish has become heated on social media. Seeing the coming of BJP government, users are now asking whether they will celebrate the victory in Bengal by eating Jhalmuri or Machli Bhaat?

Victory celebration stuck between fish and Jhalmuri?

Actually, all kinds of things are happening on social media regarding West Bengal elections. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen enjoying Jhalmuri during election rallies, many party leaders tried to woo voters by eating fish. In such a situation, the victory celebration is now stuck between these two identities of Bengal. While some people are saying that victory is incomplete without Jhalmuri, some people are saying that the party should now celebrate by throwing a feast of fish and rice. However, some users have also demanded to include Rasgulla in the sweets.

Will a similar gathering of fish and rice be organized after coming to power? pic.twitter.com/9wVBVR1KAl

Jhalmuri and fish factor changed the atmosphere of Bengal?

Now it remains to be seen how BJP celebrates its victory in Bengal. In many videos going viral on social media, Jalebi filtering is definitely seen in the BJP office, but on social media, people are also giving importance to Jhalmuri and Machli Bhaat and saying that these two foods have contributed a lot in this election. Let us tell you that Mamata Banerjee has been ruling West Bengal for the last 15 years, but looking at the election trends of 2026, her departure seems almost certain.

Politics has its place, but the taste of fish has its place. Fresh fish in the plate and the heat of elections in the city… the mood of Bengal is something different. pic.twitter.com/svnwp2H9yf

Users said, Rasgulla should also be there along with Jhalmuri and fish.

While many memes are being made on social media about Jhalmuri, many users are also bringing in the fish factor. But people have not forgotten the most famous sweet of West Bengal, Rasgulla. Users say that when you start feeling spicy after eating Jhalmuri and fish, then definitely take Rasgulla for sweets. Let us tell you that elections were held in Bengal on 23rd and 29th April and the counting of votes is going on on 4th May. Apart from Bengal, BJP is also going to form government in Assam and Puducherry.

MOTN Survey 2026: If Lok Sabha elections are held today, there will be no major upheaval in the politics of West Bengal. According to India Today-CVoter’s Mood of the Nation (MOTN) Survey 2026, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) may maintain its strong hold in the state like in 2024.

There are definitely signs of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) getting a slight lead in seats and vote share, but the picture still appears to be in favor of TMC.

Know which party will get how many seats

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Trinamool Congress won 29 out of 42 seats in West Bengal, improving its 2019 performance. Whereas BJP was at second place with 12 seats. According to the latest 2026 MOTN survey, if elections are held now, TMC’s seats may drop to 28 with a slight decline, while BJP’s seats may increase to 14.

This estimate shows a lead for BJP compared to the August version of MOTN. In the August survey, BJP was expected to get 11 seats, which has now increased to 14. On the contrary, in the August 2026 survey, TMC’s seats were said to be 31, which has now been reduced to 28. This survey has come just two months before the West Bengal Assembly elections.

Signs of change in vote share also
According to the 2026 MOTN survey, the vote share of the BJP-led NDA may increase by about three percent. NDA’s vote share is expected to increase from 39 percent to 42 percent. Although the results of the survey cannot be considered as the final truth, it definitely indicates that BJP is not yet in a position to make any major inroads in West Bengal and the relevance of Trinamool Congress in the politics of the state still remains strong. The Mood of the Nation survey has been conducted in the last eight weeks, in which more than 1.25 lakh people from across the country were included. According to the survey, BJP led NDA can win more than 350 seats at the national level.

Previous survey data
In the MOTN survey of August 2024, TMC was expected to get 32 seats, BJP 8 seats and Congress 2 seats. Whereas in the survey of February 2024, if elections had been held at that time, TMC was expected to get 22 seats and BJP 19 seats.
