BJP leader Subhendu Adhikari will take oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal on Saturday (9 May 2026). A possible list of which other leaders will be included in Shubhendu’s cabinet has also been revealed. There has been no official announcement from BJP yet, but names of many big leaders of the party have appeared in the list of possible ministers. According to sources, senior BJP leaders Agnimitra Paul, Rupa Ganguly, Dilip Ghosh, Swapan Dasgupta, Shankar Ghosh, Sardutt Mukherjee, Indranil Kha and Ajit Kumar Jana may get a place in Shubhendu Adhikari’s cabinet. All these leaders have been active in the party for a long time and have been playing an important role in strengthening BJP in West Bengal.
Apart from this, names of some other leaders are also in discussion, who can be given responsibility in the new government. These include Dipanjan Chakraborty, Jewel Murmu, Naman Rai, Deepak Burman, Sajal Ghosh and Bankim Ghosh. Party insiders say that the cabinet can be formed keeping in mind the social and regional balance.

Opportunity for faces associated with film and cultural world
Faces associated with film and cultural world can also be seen in the new government. Actors Rudranil Ghosh, Rathindranath Basu and Jagannath Chattopadhyay are also likely to be included in the cabinet. BJP is going to form the government in West Bengal for the first time, hence the party wants to prepare such a cabinet which has political experience along with representation of different sections. This government formed under the leadership of Subhendu Adhikari is considered to be a big change in the politics of West Bengal. Now everyone’s eyes are on which leaders get a place in the final list and who is given which department.
Which party won how many seats in Bengal elections
Bharatiya Janata Party has achieved a big victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026. By winning 206 seats, BJP has achieved more than two-third majority in the assembly. With this, the 15-year-old rule of Trinamool Congress in the state has come to an end. This election was the first election held after the Special Intensive Revision of Voter List i.e. SIR. Trinamool Congress had suffered a major setback in the election results. The party could win only 80 seats and is leading on one seat. Out of the total 293 assembly seats in the state, the results of 292 seats have been declared. Talking about other parties, Congress has got 2 seats. Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) has also won 2 seats. Whereas CPI(M) was successful in winning only 1 seat.
