Monsoon will be active in most parts of the country on Tuesday (July 14). According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), there is the highest possibility of rain in Eastern and North-Eastern India today. There may be very heavy rain at many places in Bihar. There are chances of heavy rain in the Ganga plains of Bengal. There is a possibility of heavy rain at many places in Odisha and Jharkhand also.

There is a possibility of heavy rain at many places in Sikkim. Rainfall will continue in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram. There is a possibility of heavy rain and lightning at some places. Talking about North India, according to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of heavy rain at many places in Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Apart from this, rain with thunder and lightning is expected in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan. Rain activities will be seen in many parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

When will it rain in UP
Due to weakening of monsoon in Uttar Pradesh, sultry heat is expected to increase in most parts for the next 3-4 days. The depression formed from the Bay of Bengal has weakened after reaching eastern Uttar Pradesh. At present there is no effective weather system active in the state and there is a possibility of light or sporadic rain at some places in most of the areas. Due to less weather activities the temperature will increase gradually. On Monday, the maximum temperature of Lucknow was recorded at 36.9 degrees and the minimum at 28.2 degrees Celsius.

Rajasthan weather condition
Monsoon activities are likely to remain weak in Rajasthan for the next one week. During this period, the weather is expected to remain dry in most parts of the state. There is a possibility of less rain activities throughout the week in most areas of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions. However, on July 14 and 15, light rain may occur at some places in Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu and surrounding districts.

Despite the crushing defeat of Trinamool Congress in the West Bengal Assembly elections, Mamata Banerjee has not accepted defeat. Despite most of the 80 TMC MLAs forming a separate faction under the leadership of Ritabrata Banerjee and Lok Sabha MPs also forming a separate faction, Mamata Banerjee is adamant. Mamta says that to stop me she will have to kill me.

The former Chief Minister of Bengal termed the rebel leaders as traitors. He stressed that the election symbol of Trinamool will remain with him and his loyal people. This indicates that the rebel leaders may have to face a long legal battle. Mamta said that the party’s election symbol will not go anywhere. If you want to stop me you will have to kill me.

On Saturday, TMC Chief suffered another big blow, when Chandrima Bhattacharya also resigned. Later he was seen with the group of opposition leader Ritabrata Banerjee in the assembly. Banerjee’s supporters had captured the party office in Kolkata on Friday.

What did you say on the resignation of Chandrima Bhattacharya?

Mamata Banerjee said, “Chandrima Bhattacharya has resigned today. She had already told me about the real situation that she would resign because her son had already supported the anti-Trinamool faction.” However, the former Chief Minister rejected the rebel group’s proposal to play the role of an advisor and said that she would never associate with the rebels.

She said, “It is (Chandrima Banerjee’s) own decision, but I will not join hands with her.” The Trinamool Congress chief claimed that the rebel leaders had left the party due to pressure. She said that I will not bow down to BJP and my party will also not bow down to any pressure.

What did you say about the rebels occupying the TMC office?

Regarding the rebels, Mamata Banerjee said that I want to say to those who went to the Trinamool Congress office yesterday and locked it that we had taken that office on rent. We got it on lease till October 2027. A person can leave the party, but the organization does not end. This is party property. If I cannot take it under my control then no one can forcibly take over the property of mother, soil and man.

Mamata Banerjee’s close aide and MP Mahua Moitra has expressed her pain over the political turmoil within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Bengal. Mahua appeared very emotional about the party’s young MP from Jadavpur, Sayoni Ghosh, joining the rebel group and now she has come out in Ghosh’s defence.

In an interview given to The Indian Express, Mahua, while referring to Sayoni, said that her departure has deeply hurt me personally. He said that ability and hard work matter, but loyalty is very important. Some things have hurt me very much. She (Sayoni) is like my daughter, like my sister. If someone else had left the party, I would not have felt any pain. She is my daughter’s age and I love her the same way.

Mahua described Sayoni as different from everyone else. She said that I can guarantee that she is not a disloyal or taking advantage person. She has no interest in money as she leads a very simple life and is always working. Praising Sayoni’s ability, Mahua said that she has risen from zero to reach here. He is a very kind person.

Mahua told why Sayoni left the party
On Sayoni’s rebellion against TMC, Mahua said that fear could be a major reason behind this. Maybe it’s a combination of fear and other things. She further said that I don’t know what the real thing is, but my advice to such people is that I know you are scared, but unless we overcome fear, we cannot win anything. Everyone has their own destiny, but my advice to him would be to overcome fear, there is still a lot of life ahead.

‘Did the party not give anything to Sayoni?’
Mahua Moitra also expressed disappointment that the party which gave Sayoni such a huge political stature in such a short time, leaving her is very disturbing. He reminded that Sayoni had joined TMC only in 2021. In these 5 years, the party gave him MLA ticket, made him National Youth President and gave him ticket from a prestigious seat like Jadavpur in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Mahua clearly said that everything is fine in politics, but it hurts the most when one’s own people turn away like this. Expressing his pain, he said that when Sayoni can turn suddenly like this, then whom will you trust? When such people think of jumping from a ship, it is very disturbing.

The Central Committee (CC) of the CPI(M) has made a preliminary review of the political, organizational and ideological reasons regarding the recent assembly election results. The party has expressed deep concern over the victory of BJP in West Bengal and the strengthening of Hindutva communal forces in the society.

In a release issued after the Central Committee meeting held in New Delhi from May 22 to 24, 2026, it was said that the State Committee is gathering opinions from various levels to understand the reasons for the electoral shock in Kerala. These suggestions will be discussed in detail in the meetings of the State Secretariat and State Committee to be held in Thiruvananthapuram between June 5 and 8, in which Politburo members will also participate. The party said that corrective steps will be taken to address the identified weaknesses.

The party said that in West Bengal too, opinions will be taken from all the units and the state committee will finalize the review by the end of June. A similar review process will be adopted in Tamil Nadu and Assam also.

CPI(M) described the party’s return to the West Bengal Assembly as positive. Also said that a party-backed candidate from Mahe in Puducherry has won as an independent. The Central Committee expressed gratitude to the voters of all those states who supported the party and its allies.

Will leadership change in Karnataka? Siddaramaiah will meet the Congress high command, DK Shivkumar said – take it in writing…

The party said it will remain at the forefront of raising people’s issues, fighting to protect their rights and opposing “authoritarian and Hindutva-corporate attacks”. Elected public representatives will also raise public issues in the Houses and continue the struggle against the alleged anti-people policies.

CPI(M) also expressed expectations from the newly formed government in Tamil Nadu. The party said the TVK government, led by Vijay, will rule in accordance with its promises to protect the Constitution, federal structure, secularism and democratic rights.

The Central Committee said that a broader trend of the election results is the strengthening of Hindutva communal forces in the society and gaining power in West Bengal. The party said that even though BJP has got limited seats in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, its expansion is a matter of concern.

The CPI(M) said the victory of the RSS-BJP in West Bengal and their return to power in Assam is a matter of grave concern for all secular, progressive and democratic forces. The party assured that it will continue to struggle to protect communal harmony and people’s rights.

The Central Committee of the party will meet again in the second fortnight of July 2026, in which a comprehensive analysis of the election results will be done based on the review reports of the states and steps will be taken to address the organizational weaknesses from the top to the bottom.

Re-polling has started on Thursday in Falta assembly constituency located in South 24 Parganas of West Bengal. Re-polling is being conducted at all 285 polling stations of this assembly constituency. Voting has started at 7:00 am and will continue till 6:00 pm. The results of the elections will be declared on 24 May.

Voting was held on Falta seat on April 29 in the second phase of the recently concluded two-phase assembly elections. However, that day several complaints of alleged election rigging were reported from this constituency.

At many polling booths, EVM buttons bearing the names and symbols of BJP candidates were reportedly covered with white tape. Based on the investigation, the Election Commission of India (ECI) ordered re-polling in the entire Falta assembly constituency.

Even before this, Trinamool Congress candidate Jahangir Khan had announced on Tuesday that he will not contest the elections this time. He had expressed his confidence in the Chief Minister regarding the announcement of development package for Falta.

Sources in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal said on Wednesday that the polling personnel are fully prepared and the deployment work is going on smoothly.

A source in the CEO office said that constant monitoring arrangements have been made to ensure that every aspect of the voting process runs smoothly. The objective of all these measures is to make voting free, fair and peaceful. This re-polling will be conducted under tight security cover of 35 companies of Central Armed Police Forces, which is a very large number for any one assembly constituency.

However, the CEO office clarified that despite Khan’s announcement, his name will continue to be a Trinamool Congress candidate in the re-poll and his name will continue to appear on the EVMs as well.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP from Punjab Malvinder Singh Kang on Sunday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of hatching a conspiracy and said that it will try to remove the names of genuine voters in Punjab through Special Intensive Review (SIR).

Anandpur Sahib MP urged the Election Commission of India to ensure that the SIR process of voter list is done in a transparent manner. In a video, Kang alleged that the BJP is hatching a conspiracy in the name of SIR and this is dangerous for democracy.

My dearest Punjabis, wake up

Why is this Special Intensive Revision (SIR) being rammed through right before our 2027 polls? In Bihar, they deleted over 65 lakh genuine names. In Bengal, it was a shocking 91 lakh voters wiped off, that’s nearly 12% of the rolls! And BJP walked… pic.twitter.com/p9Y44RuK0X

He alleged that BJP will try to remove the names of genuine voters of Punjab from the voter list in the name of voter verification. “But we won’t let that happen,” Kang said.

He said, “We have to be alert and protect our democratic rights.” Democracy can be saved only when we have the right to vote.

Also read: Kerala’s new Chief Minister VD Satheesan will take oath, Rahul Gandhi will also attend the program.

Kang alleged that where BJP does not get public support, it adopts different “tactics”. Citing the recent assembly elections held in West Bengal, he alleged that the elections were rigged due to misuse of the Election Commission.

Meanwhile, Kang has written a letter to the Election Commission expressing apprehensions about the possible impact of SIR on the genuine voters of Punjab, especially the NRI Punjabi community.

Kang said that the manner in which the SIR exercise is being conducted raises serious questions about transparency and their motives. He said, “First Punjab and farmers were deliberately defamed. Now, under the guise of voter verification, efforts are being made to remove the names of genuine Punjabi voters from the voter list.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had said on Saturday that his party will not allow the name of even a single valid voter in the state to be deleted under the SIR process.

The first BJP ruled government is going to be formed in West Bengal after independence. Shubhendu Adhikari has been elected leader in the legislature party meeting. After being elected leader of the legislative party, he stressed on running the new state administration on the basis of ‘collective leadership’. If any leader has increased his stature rapidly in the politics of West Bengal in the last few years, it is Shubhendu Adhikari. Today, he is not only the most prominent face of BJP in the state, but is also going to become the new Chief Minister of the state.

I will not run a new government: Shubhendu

Shubhendu Adhikari said, ‘I will not run a new government. Together we will run the new government. The meeting was chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and attended by the newly elected 2027 Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs, during which his name was unanimously chosen as the new leader of the BJP legislature party in the West Bengal Assembly and thus the next Chief Minister.

Political analysts believe that through this message of ‘collective leadership’, Adhikari has also given an indirect message that the new state cabinet led by him will not work like the previous cabinet, which was led by his predecessor Mamata Banerjee, because in Mamata’s cabinet, administrative decisions, whether small or big, could not be passed without her consent. In his speech, the officer also outlined the priorities of the new state cabinet.

Shubhendu told the priority of BJP government

He said that our priority will be to trace and take legal action against those involved in corruption and misuse of public funds, to provide justice to those who have been victims of grave injustice and atrocities in the last 15 years, and to ensure better and corruption-free public services.

Mamata Banerjee had created an atmosphere of fear: Amit Shah

Earlier, while addressing the gathering, the Union Home Minister reminded all the 207 elected MLAs of the party that they should ensure that the unwavering faith with which the people of West Bengal gave the Bharatiya Janata Party a massive victory in the recently concluded West Bengal elections, is not broken. He said that there was an atmosphere of fear during Mamata Banerjee’s rule, but despite this, I am grateful to the people of West Bengal that they trusted our leaders and gave us this victory.

He said that he wants to tell the party leaders to make every possible effort to fulfill the aspirations of the people who brought them to power. The Home Minister said, ‘Don’t let the trust be broken. This is the duty of all of you. We have to ensure that we give our best to the people of West Bengal.

As the election atmosphere heats up, illegal betting markets also become active in many parts of the country. This is an informal betting system, where people place money on the victory or defeat of political parties and candidates. The country is waiting for the election results of 5 states.

In Assam and West Bengal, most of the exit polls seem to be giving victory to BJP, while on the other hand, in Tamil Nadu, all eyes are on TVK, but what does the betting market say? On which party is the betting market placing its bets? The betting market of Mumbai is completely hot before the results of the assembly elections of five states. The latest sentiments and estimates are giving such signals which can shake the political equations.

Signs of crisis in Mamta didi’s chair

West Bengal is considered to be the biggest contest, where the total seats are 294 and the majority figure is 148. In such a situation, it is being estimated that BJP may get 175-185 seats, this is not only much more than the majority, but BJP seems to be creating history in Bengal. On the other hand, Mamata led TMC seems to be shrinking to 127-132 seats. Others (Congress, CPIM, ISF) seem to be in single digits. This time in Mumbai’s betting market, more trust is being expressed on West Bengal opposition leader and BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari than Mamata Banerjee.

DMK’s strong comeback this time
According to the estimates of Mumbai betting market, DMK seems to be making a strong comeback this time in Tamil Nadu. There are a total of 234 assembly seats in the state. In such a situation, DMK is likely to get 145-155 seats and AIADMK seems to be shrinking to 45-65 seats. Whereas actor Vijay’s party TVK is likely to win 7-9 seats. According to the trend, MK Stalin is leading, while the graph of AIADMK seems to be falling.

BJP’s dominance in Assam
BJP’s dominance seems to be intact in Assam. Out of total 126 seats, BJP is seen winning 85-92 seats and Congress only 34-38 seats. There is a close contest in Puducherry. According to estimates, out of total 30 seats, NDA is seen winning 15-18 seats and India Block 14-17 seats.

Preparations for counting of votes completed in Jorhat: Counting of votes will take place on May 4, tight security arrangements

Signs of UDF’s comeback in Kerala, LDF behind
In Kerala with 140 seats, it is estimated that this time also UDF will return to power and the party is likely to get 78-85 seats, while LDF is seen winning 56-66 seats while BJP can also win 2-3 seats.

How does betting market work?
In this betting market of Mumbai, rates or prices are decided on the basis of the prospects of any party or candidate. The party which is considered strong gets a lower rate, while the party which is considered weak gets a higher rate. The betting market usually operates through a network of local bookies, who take bets over phone, WhatsApp and other means. These rates keep fluctuating continuously according to surveys, exit polls, rallies and political developments.

In the exit polls after the elections in 5 states of the country, the position of the left parties appears to be quite weak. Even in the states where the Left was once considered to have a strong hold, the situation seems to be changing this time. In these five states, there was actually only two places where left parties had hope: Kerala and West Bengal. There has been a Left government in Kerala for a long time and Pinarayi Vijayan has been the Chief Minister. In West Bengal, the Left had ruled the government continuously for about 35 years, so there is a historical basis there too.

This time in the exit polls, the position of the Left in West Bengal appears to be very weak. According to the poll of polls, the left parties are seen getting only 2 seats there. Since 2016, the Left has been continuously weakening in Bengal and this time too the same trend seems to be continuing.

Also read: TVK in Tamil Nadu, BJP in Kerala and is Congress clean in Bengal? Where is the danger of zero in exit polls?

Challenge for Left in Kerala

Even in Kerala, the picture is not looking good for the Left. Where earlier the Left government was being formed, now according to exit polls the Congress led alliance seems to be ahead. It is estimated that the Left may get around 59 seats in Kerala, while the Congress alliance is expected to get around 77 seats, indicating a change in government. However, if these exit polls prove to be correct, it would mean that the Left parties may lose power even in their strongest bastion Kerala. The Left has already lost its hold in states like Bengal and Tripura, and now the situation seems to be weakening in Kerala too.

What are the exit polls indicating?

Exit polls are indicating that leftist politics in the country is shrinking much more than before. If the same trend is visible in the final results, then in the coming time the left parties will face a big challenge to re-consolidate their position.
