Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP from Punjab Malvinder Singh Kang on Sunday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of hatching a conspiracy and said that it will try to remove the names of genuine voters in Punjab through Special Intensive Review (SIR).
Anandpur Sahib MP urged the Election Commission of India to ensure that the SIR process of voter list is done in a transparent manner. In a video, Kang alleged that the BJP is hatching a conspiracy in the name of SIR and this is dangerous for democracy.
My dearest Punjabis, wake up
Why is this Special Intensive Revision (SIR) being rammed through right before our 2027 polls? In Bihar, they deleted over 65 lakh genuine names. In Bengal, it was a shocking 91 lakh voters wiped off, that’s nearly 12% of the rolls! And BJP walked… pic.twitter.com/p9Y44RuK0X

He alleged that BJP will try to remove the names of genuine voters of Punjab from the voter list in the name of voter verification. “But we won’t let that happen,” Kang said.
He said, “We have to be alert and protect our democratic rights.” Democracy can be saved only when we have the right to vote.

Kang alleged that where BJP does not get public support, it adopts different “tactics”. Citing the recent assembly elections held in West Bengal, he alleged that the elections were rigged due to misuse of the Election Commission.
Meanwhile, Kang has written a letter to the Election Commission expressing apprehensions about the possible impact of SIR on the genuine voters of Punjab, especially the NRI Punjabi community.
Kang said that the manner in which the SIR exercise is being conducted raises serious questions about transparency and their motives. He said, “First Punjab and farmers were deliberately defamed. Now, under the guise of voter verification, efforts are being made to remove the names of genuine Punjabi voters from the voter list.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had said on Saturday that his party will not allow the name of even a single valid voter in the state to be deleted under the SIR process.
