What is bone marrow?

These are such tissues found in our body which are found in the big bones of the body like the thigh bone. It is semi-solid and sticky in appearance. This is the first step in the process of making blood in the body. There are two types of bone marrow. One is red bone marrow and the other is yellow bone marrow. In this, red bone marrow helps in making red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets.

What is in the bone marrow?

Actually, bone marrow contains hematopoietic stem cells. These blood cells divide themselves and give birth to new blood cells and help in creating new cells in the body. Without this, there can be a deficiency of blood in the body. Due to lack of blood, adequate oxygen does not reach the body and it becomes deficient.

Can we live without bone marrow?

Bone marrow works to make blood in our body. In such a situation, it is not possible to live without it because in its absence, new blood cells will stop being formed in the body and old cells die after some time. Due to this, there will gradually be a shortage of blood in the body and it will become impossible to stay alive. Apart from this, without it, there is a deficiency of platelets in the body and in case of injury, the injury does not heal and bleeding starts. Besides, the white blood cells essential for the body act as a defense mechanism in the body. Without bone marrow, the body’s immunity will be lost and the person will become ill, due to which he may even die.
