Questions were raised over CBSE’s new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system when class 12 student Vedant Srivastava was shown a copy of another student’s Physics answer sheet instead of his own. Vedanta made this discrepancy public, after which CBSE admitted that the answer sheet had been changed and later provided them the original copy. After this his marks also increased. Now a new controversy has come to light in this matter.

A circular has gone viral on social media, in which words like “Blatant Lie” have been used. However, the biggest question is who is being called an outright liar? What about Vedanta, which said it gained only 2 marks in the re-evaluation? Not only this, this viral circular has also not been officially confirmed yet. Neither CBSE has taken responsibility for it nor sources in the Education Ministry are considering it as their document. In such a situation, this whole matter is raising many questions.

Question 1: What is the claim of Vedanta?

Vedanta says that after re-evaluation they have increased only two points. According to him, there has been an increase of 1 mark in Mathematics and 1 mark in Computer Science, while not a single mark has increased in Physics after re-evaluation.

Question 2: Then where did the talk of increasing by 11 points come from?

In a circular going viral on social media, it has been claimed that the total marks of Vedanta have increased by 11 and their subject wise marks have also been written in it. However, this circular has not been officially confirmed yet.

Question 3: What are Vedant and his father saying on this?

Vedant and his father say that the 9 marks which were increased in Physics were not because of re-evaluation, but after the mistake of swapping answer sheets came to light. He says that the marks were corrected only when he got his oral answer sheet. Therefore, he claims that it is not correct to call those 9 points an increase due to re-evaluation.

Question 4: Who issued this viral circular?

This is the biggest question of this entire controversy. Till now CBSE has not taken responsibility for this viral circular. At the same time, sources in the Education Ministry have also refused to release it. In such a situation, the question arises that if this circular was not issued by CBSE nor by the Ministry of Education, then how are the subject wise marks of Vedanta mentioned exactly in it?

Question 5: Did Vedanta itself make its numbers public?

Vedanta says that they never made their subject wise marks public. He claims that he neither shared his marks on social media nor through any other medium.

Question 6: Were they informed before making the marks public?

Vedanta says that it neither received any call nor any email informing it that its subject wise marks will be made public. He says that he got this information directly after the viral circular came to light.

Question 7: What is the family saying now?

Vedant’s father Sanjay says that if his son did not make his marks public then how did his personal information come out? He says that making public the subject wise marks of a student is a serious matter. He also said that till now no contact has been made by CBSE regarding this entire matter and he is considering taking legal action.

What are the biggest questions?

Who is being called a blatant liar by saying “Blatant Lie”?

Who issued the viral circular?

If it is not official then how are the subject wise marks of Vedanta recorded exactly in it?

If the student did not make his marks public then how did his personal information get out?

If this document is official then who will take responsibility for it?

This is not just a matter of “number 11 vs number 2”, but a dispute related to change of copy, re-evaluation, data privacy and authenticity of the viral circular.

CBSE Re-evaluation 2026: Questions have once again arisen regarding the re-evaluation process of CBSE Class 12th. Student Vedant has claimed on social media platform

Even before this, Vedanta had alleged that he was shown the Physics answer sheet of another student during re-evaluation. Later, when they lodged objections, they were provided the correct answer sheet. However, now even after the new results they have raised questions on the evaluation process. There has been no official response from CBSE on this entire matter. The claim has been made on behalf of the student, CBSE has not said anything on this at present.

What did the student say after releasing the video?

After the results of re-evaluation came, Vedanta shared a video on social media. In the video, he said that he had applied for re-evaluation for 11 questions, but after the result came, his total marks increased by only 2. He also claimed that in the answer sheet which he had earlier raised the issue of being wrong, not a single mark of his had increased. According to him, both the increased marks were in Maths and Computer Science, although it was not related to the questions for which he had applied.

Just to inform
Got my re-evaluation result. pic.twitter.com/gXguhDNDud

What happened after re-evaluation?

According to Vedanta, he had demanded re-evaluation of 11 questions. But only 2 marks were increased in the final result. He claims that these marks were obtained in those subjects for which he had not applied for re-evaluation. For this reason he has raised questions on the entire process.

Earlier the allegation of changed answer sheet was made

Vedanta says that when the results of the board exam were released on May 13, he was shown the wrong answer sheet of Physics subject. According to him, it was a copy of another student. Later he lodged an objection in this matter, after which the correct answer sheet was provided to him by the board. After this, there was some change in his marks, but now he says that some questions related to evaluation still remain.

After the release of the results of CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2026, many questions have been raised regarding the evaluation process across the country. A large number of students have expressed objection to their marks and asked for a copy of the answer sheets. Meanwhile, the Central Board of Secondary Education is starting the process of re-evaluation and answer sheet verification from today. Board figures show that this time more than 4 lakh students have applied to see their copies, while a total demand for more than 11 lakh answer sheets has been registered.

At the same time, the copy verification process was to start on the CBSE portal from today. But now maintenance work is going on on the website, a message is coming that the portal will be available soon.

Record number of applications arrived

According to CBSE, this year 4,04,319 students have applied to get copies of their evaluated answer sheets. These students demanded a total of 11,31,961 answer sheets. The board has so far made available about 8.98 lakh answer sheets through digital medium. This number is considered much higher than the previous years and from this the increasing concerns of the students can be gauged.

Questions raised on OSM system

This year, CBSE used the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system in the evaluation of answer sheets. Under this system, examiners check the scanned copies on a digital platform. The board says that this has made the evaluation process fast and transparent, but after the results came, many students raised questions on this system. Many students claimed that they got much less marks than expected. At the same time, some students alleged that some answers in their copies were not checked or there were technical flaws in the scanned copies. Many such screenshots and complaints also went viral on social media, due to which the matter came into further discussion.

CBSE made a big change by giving relief in fees

Following complaints from students and parents, CBSE has also changed the fees for post-result services. Now students can get their scanned answer sheet by paying Rs 100 per subject. A fee of Rs 100 per subject has also been fixed for verification of marks. Whereas for re-evaluation, fee will be charged on per question basis. The board says that the purpose of reduction in fee is to provide relief to the students and to give them an opportunity to check their answer sheets properly.

Who can apply for re-evaluation?

Students who are not satisfied with their marks can first download their scanned answer sheet. After this, you can carefully see the answers and the process of adding marks. If any question has not been checked or a mistake is seen in giving marks, then students can apply for verification and revaluation.

Also read: CS June 2026 exams will start from tomorrow, keep these important documents before going to the exam centre.

CBSE has clarified that after re-evaluation, marks may increase, decrease or may remain the same. Only the marks released after revaluation will be considered final.

Debate continues regarding transparency

Despite the start of the re-evaluation process, the debate regarding the OSM system is not stopping. Student organizations, parents and education experts are continuously demanding more transparency in the evaluation process. Many believe that digital evaluation is the need of the future, but to make it fully effective, technical and administrative shortcomings need to be addressed.

How to apply for CBSE Re-evaluation

Go to the official website of CBSE cbse.gov.in.

Click on the link “Re-evaluation/Verification of Marks 2026” available on the homepage.

Login by entering roll number, school number, admit card ID and other required details.

Select the subject for which you want to see the answer sheet and pay the prescribed fee.

Download the scanned answer sheet and check it carefully.

If any answer has not been checked or an error is seen in giving marks then apply for Verification of Marks.

If not satisfied, submit application for re-evaluation within the prescribed time limit.

CBSE Class 12 Re-evaluation 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has provided the facility of re-evaluation and number verification for lakhs of students across the country, so that they can get their copies re-checked. This time there has been a lot of discussion among the students regarding the re-evaluation process. Earlier the board had informed that the application process would start from May 29, but due to technical reasons, its date was changed to June 1, 2026.

The board says that this decision has been taken to make the portal more easy and secure, so that the large number of applications can be handled without any hassle. If you also want to get your marks re-checked, then let us know when the re-evaluation portal will open, how to apply and what is the complete process of applying.

Re-evaluation portal will start from June 1

CBSE has made it clear that the post result activity portal for class 12th students will be started from June 1, 2026. Through this portal, students will be able to apply for verification of their marks, checking of answer book and re-evaluation. The board says that this step has been taken to make the process more transparent and easier.

Who can apply?

Only those students who had applied for a copy of their scanned answer sheet can apply for re-evaluation. Such students can now apply for getting their copy checked for any mistakes, verification of marks and re-evaluation.

Why is re-evaluation in discussion?

This year CBSE has used On-Screen Marking (OSM) system for checking the answer sheet. After the release of the results, some students had raised questions regarding the evaluation process. Many students had also complained about problems in mark sheets and payment related problems on the portal. For this reason, the interest of students regarding the re-evaluation and verification process has increased a lot.

2. There you have to open the post result activity or verification and re-evaluation section.

3. After this you will have to login with the help of roll number, school number and admit card ID.

4. After login, students can choose Marks Verification, Re-evaluation or both options as per their need.

5. After this, you will have to select the relevant subject and pay the prescribed fee online.

Every year, with the announcement of CBSE Board results, both happiness and stress come to the homes of lakhs of students. Some celebrate when they get good marks, while others look at their marksheet and wonder how they got such low marks. Something similar is being seen this time too. But a big change is clearly visible in 2026, this time a record number of students have asked for re-checking and scanned copy of their answer sheets.

CBSE has now released a new update regarding the answer book process, which has caught the attention of both students and parents. According to the latest data of the board, till 6 pm on May 26, 2026, a total of 4,04,319 students have applied for the scanned copies of their examined copies. The most surprising thing is that these students have demanded a total of 11,31,961 answer books. That means a student has expressed his desire to see copies of not just one but many subjects.

Why is restlessness increasing among students?

After the results are declared, many students feel that they have got less marks than expected. Some students believe that their copy was not checked properly, while others fear that there was a mistake in adding the numbers. This is the reason why this time a large number of students decided to see their answer sheets.

According to CBSE, till now 8,98,214 answer books have been made available to the students digitally. The remaining pending requests will be completed by May 27, 2026. The board says that efforts are being made to complete the entire process quickly so that students do not have to wait much.

Also read- Admission process starts in top engineering colleges of Delhi, JAC Delhi 2026 registration open

New portal will open till 29th May

CBSE has also informed that the application portal for verification and re-evaluation of answer books is expected to go live by 29 May 2026. That is, those students who feel that marks have been given less in their copy or some mistake has been made, they will soon be able to apply for re-verification. This facility of the board is considered very important for the students, because it gives them a chance to see their copy and make corrections in case of mistakes.

Applications increased manifold compared to last year

CBSE figures are showing a big change this time. In the year 2025, about 1.31 lakh students had applied for marks verification and re-checking. At that time approximately 2.82 lakh answer sheets were challenged. But in 2026 the situation has completely changed. This time more than 4 lakh students have asked for scanned copies of 11.31 lakh answer books. That means this number is many times more than last year.

Education experts believe that the concern about numbers is continuously increasing among students. In today’s time, the difference of a few marks can affect college admission and career. This is the reason why students have now become more cautious about their marks than before.

Concern of parents also increased

Not only students, parents are also continuously keeping an eye on this process. Many parents believe that if the student has worked hard, he should get the right result. This is the reason why now people have started taking verification and re-evaluation seriously.

After the results of board exams are declared, students usually seem happy or disappointed about their marks. But this time a student did not just question the numbers, but put forward such a thing which attracted the attention of the entire country. The matter escalated so much that it started being discussed from social media to politics. Ultimately CBSE itself had to come forward and accept its mistake.

In fact, 17-year-old student Vedant Srivastava, after seeing his Physics marks, demanded re-examination. But when he got the copy of the answer sheet, he was surprised. According to him, the answer sheet shown to him did not look like his. A controversy started from here which caught the attention of millions of people.

The story started with numbers, the matter reached the answers.

Vedanta’s marks in Physics were much less than expected. In such a situation, as per the rules, he asked for a copy of the answer sheet so that he could see where the mistake had happened. But when the answer sheet came in front of him, he felt something strange.

Vedanta claimed that the handwriting in the answer sheet was not his. Not only the handwriting, but the way of writing the answers, the use of words and the style of the entire paper was also different. He felt that something big had gone wrong. After this he expressed his views on social media and asked the question as to which answer sheet was checked based on his roll number. This post of his went viral in no time and reached millions of people.

Got support on social media, but trolling also happened

As the matter came into discussion, people’s reactions also started coming. Many people supported the student and demanded a fair investigation. On the other hand, some people started raising questions on Vedant and his family. According to the family, he had to face a lot of trolling on social media. Some people even said that he is anti-national. Many users also raised questions about the authenticity of his social media accounts.

“We are not Pakistanis” – emotional reaction of the family

After several days of criticism and allegations, Vedant’s brother Siddhant shared a post on social media. He thanked those who supported the family in difficult times. He also wrote in clear words that his family is Indian and he is being unfairly targeted. His statement quickly went viral and became a topic of discussion among people.

How did the whole truth come out?

Siddhant told that the family had created a social media account only so that they could convey their message to the people. He said that after having doubts about the marks of Physics, he had asked for copies of answer sheets of many subjects. When the answer sheet of Physics was compared with the copies of other subjects, the difference became clearly visible. The family claimed that this was the moment when they realized that a big mistake had been made.

CBSE finally admitted its mistake

According to the reports, CBSE investigated the entire matter amid continuously arising questions and increasing pressure. After verification, the board sent the correct Physics answer sheet to the student through email. The board also said that the matter has been reviewed and necessary changes will be made in the result where necessary.

CBSE Class 12 Re-evaluation: After the declaration of CBSE 12th results, this time the biggest discussion is about re-evaluation and On Screen Marking (OSM) system. Many students claimed on social media that they had got lower marks than expected. Meanwhile, the Board held a press conference amid the ongoing controversies regarding on-screen marking of CBSE 12th Board Exam.

To provide relief to the students, the re-evaluation fee has been reduced by the CBSE Board. Students can now check their answer sheet for just Rs 100. Earlier this fee was Rs 700. And for re-evaluation they will have to pay Rs 25 per question. Meanwhile, the question in the minds of students is that if their marks increase after re-evaluation, will their fees be refunded or not? Let us know the answer…

Full fees will be refunded

The board has made it clear that if a student gets re-evaluation done and his marks increase, then the entire fee will be refunded to the student. This announcement of CBSE is being seen as a big relief for the students. Let us tell you, this time there has been a decline in the results. Compared to last year, this time the pass percentage has declined by 3 percent, which has come down from 88 percent to 85 percent. Some students also feel that they should have got more marks than they actually got. CBSE says that these changes have been made to provide relief to the students and to make the process easier. Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar said that the board does not want any student to feel that his hard work has not been properly respected.

Also read: JEE Advanced 2026: JEE Advanced 2026: How to get scholarship in IIT Kharagpur? Know the terms and marks information

Why was there controversy regarding OSM system?

Actually, this year CBSE has used OSM i.e. On Screen Marking system for checking the copies of class 12th. In this, the answer sheets of the students have been scanned and checked digitally. After the results came, many students said that they had got less marks than expected, especially in subjects like Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Some students even said that despite getting good marks in JEE Main, they got less marks in the board exam. After these complaints, CBSE clarified in a press conference that OSM is not a new system and it has been used earlier also. The board said that this time around 98 lakh answer sheets were scanned and the copies which had scanning problems were checked manually.

How can students apply for re-checking?

If any student feels that his marks are less than expected, then he can apply for re-checking by visiting the official website of CBSE. For this, first of all the student will have to apply for number verification. After this he can see his scanned answer sheet. If still a mistake is found in any question, then an application can be made for re-evaluation of that question. In this, the entire process is online and fees also have to be deposited online. CBSE releases the dates of each step separately, hence students have been advised to keep a constant eye on the board’s website so that they do not miss any important date.

CBSE Answer Sheet Rechecking Fees: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently taken a big decision for the students. Amidst the copy checking controversy and questions raised regarding marking, the board has announced that now students can check their answer sheets for just Rs 100. Earlier, students had to pay Rs 700 to see their answer sheet. Whereas for re-examination of any particular question, only Rs 25 will be charged per question.

Along with this decision, the board also made it clear that this step has been taken in the interest of transparency and students. Board officials, understanding the concerns of the students and their parents, said that the provision of revaluation has always been there in CBSE and now it has been made easier through digital medium.

What was said in the press conference?

CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh and School Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar gave information on the issues related to On-Screen Marking (OSM) raised by Class 12 students. He told that there is concern and restlessness among the students regarding OSM. Some students feel that they should have got more marks. OSM was first implemented in 2014 and has been reintroduced this year. This system is also adopted in foreign countries and big institutions like Mumbai University, DU, Institute of Chartered Accountants etc. Sanjay Kumar said that the board is capable of handling the entire system through digital system. This makes the marking process fast, secure and transparent.

What is On-Screen Marking (OSM) and Security?

This time when the 12th examination was conducted, approximately 98 lakh 66 thousand answer sheets were scanned and sent on a secure digital platform in PDF form. Three levels of security were decided, so that no disturbance occurs. Due to light ink or scanning, about 13 thousand copies were sent for manual rechecking. Due to the digital system, human errors in totaling and adding numbers were almost eliminated. The marking is recorded step-by-step, ensuring transparency.

When will the answer sheet be accessible to students?

CBSE made it clear that if any student has any problem with his marks or evaluation, he can see the scanned copy of his answer sheet. The fee for viewing the answer sheet has been fixed at Rs 100. Whereas for re-examination of any particular question, only Rs 25 will be charged per question. If the numbers increase during investigation, the extra fees will be refunded. This process will start from May 19. Students can easily view their scanned copy, get number verification done and apply for revaluation.

What was said about revaluation?

Sanjay Kumar and Rahul Singh also told that the provision of revaluation has always been there in CBSE, and now it has become easier through the digital system. All papers will be examined carefully and transparently. Teachers and examiners are trained and full attention has been paid to safety in the process. The Board takes the concerns of students and their parents seriously.
