CBSE Class 12 Re-evaluation: After the declaration of CBSE 12th results, this time the biggest discussion is about re-evaluation and On Screen Marking (OSM) system. Many students claimed on social media that they had got lower marks than expected. Meanwhile, the Board held a press conference amid the ongoing controversies regarding on-screen marking of CBSE 12th Board Exam.

To provide relief to the students, the re-evaluation fee has been reduced by the CBSE Board. Students can now check their answer sheet for just Rs 100. Earlier this fee was Rs 700. And for re-evaluation they will have to pay Rs 25 per question. Meanwhile, the question in the minds of students is that if their marks increase after re-evaluation, will their fees be refunded or not? Let us know the answer…

Full fees will be refunded

The board has made it clear that if a student gets re-evaluation done and his marks increase, then the entire fee will be refunded to the student. This announcement of CBSE is being seen as a big relief for the students. Let us tell you, this time there has been a decline in the results. Compared to last year, this time the pass percentage has declined by 3 percent, which has come down from 88 percent to 85 percent. Some students also feel that they should have got more marks than they actually got. CBSE says that these changes have been made to provide relief to the students and to make the process easier. Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar said that the board does not want any student to feel that his hard work has not been properly respected.

Why was there controversy regarding OSM system?

Actually, this year CBSE has used OSM i.e. On Screen Marking system for checking the copies of class 12th. In this, the answer sheets of the students have been scanned and checked digitally. After the results came, many students said that they had got less marks than expected, especially in subjects like Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Some students even said that despite getting good marks in JEE Main, they got less marks in the board exam. After these complaints, CBSE clarified in a press conference that OSM is not a new system and it has been used earlier also. The board said that this time around 98 lakh answer sheets were scanned and the copies which had scanning problems were checked manually.

How can students apply for re-checking?

If any student feels that his marks are less than expected, then he can apply for re-checking by visiting the official website of CBSE. For this, first of all the student will have to apply for number verification. After this he can see his scanned answer sheet. If still a mistake is found in any question, then an application can be made for re-evaluation of that question. In this, the entire process is online and fees also have to be deposited online. CBSE releases the dates of each step separately, hence students have been advised to keep a constant eye on the board’s website so that they do not miss any important date.
