The first year of President Donald Trump’s second term has proved disappointing for Indian students dreaming of higher education in America. According to the latest data, enrollment of Indian students in American universities has decreased by about 75 percent. This decline is considered to be the sharpest in recent decades and has a direct impact on the future of thousands of students.

According to education consultants and immigration experts, the biggest reason for this decline is the strictness in the American visa policy. The acute shortage of visa interview slots, lengthy verification process and sudden increase in rejection rates have weakened the confidence of students. In many cases, students were not able to get interview slots on time, due to which they had to postpone their study plans at the last moment.

Decrease in the number of Indian students

The biggest decline was recorded between August and October, when most students go to America. According to Overseas Education Consultancies, the number of Indian students decreased by about 70 percent during this period. Only those students could reach America who had completed their application and visa process by February or March. Later, the situation became increasingly difficult for the students who applied.

Refrain from applying

New measures like review of social media activities during visa verification have also increased the concern of students. Many students did not apply due to the fear that a small mistake could lead to their visa rejection. According to a Hyderabad-based education consultancy, this is the first time that a large number of students have avoided applying to the top universities of America.

8000 student visas canceled

The situation became more serious when US State Department data revealed that about 8000 student visas were canceled by December 2025. Some students were suddenly sent emails and instructed to leave America. In many cases, action was also taken on the basis of old and already resolved cases, which were later rectified through legal intervention.

Situation is not easy for Indians also

The situation was not easy for students as well as working Indians. Uncertainty remained over the H-1B visa program, proposals like increasing fees and limiting it increased the concern of professionals associated with the IT sector. About 72 percent of H-1B visa holders are Indians, due to which the impact of this policy was most on the Indian community.

America’s job market slows down

The slowdown in America’s job market made the situation worse. Many companies have postponed new recruitments, stopped visa transfers and in some cases have even canceled job offers already given. Changes in the rules related to work permits and ending the facility of automatic extension further increased the uncertainty of students and professionals.

Number of people seeking help in Indian embassies

Amidst these circumstances, the number of people seeking help in Indian embassies has increased rapidly. Immigration lawyers believe that this situation is not showing any signs of improving soon. Many Indians living in America for a long time are now reconsidering their career and future plans.

China State Media Made Fun of Trump: Ever since Donald Trump became the President of America, his policies have been continuously in the headlines. Trump has imposed tariffs on many countries one after the other and taken tough decisions. Recently, following Trump’s order, the news of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores being arrested from the capital Caracas was also revealed.

America says that the Venezuelan government was becoming a threat to international security and conspiracies were being hatched from there against America. Trump alleges that Venezuela has become a major route for smuggling of dangerous drugs like cocaine and fentanyl into America. He says that to end this problem it is necessary to remove Maduro from power. Trump has also alleged that because of Maduro’s policies, millions of Venezuelans had to leave their country and flee to America. He claimed that criminals were sent to America from prisons and mental hospitals in Venezuela. Apart from this, Trump has also talked many times about America’s rights over Greenland.

China’s government media made fun of

Amidst all these incidents, China’s government media has taken a dig at Trump’s policies and decisions. China’s government media has shared a video on social media, in which Trump’s decisions have been mocked. It is written along with the video, ‘I do whatever I want.’ In this video, the issue of Greenland has also been raised and international law has also been made fun of in a sarcastic manner. This video from China is being seen as a sarcasm on Trump’s aggressive foreign policy and unilateral decisions.

Trump said this about Greenland

US President Donald Trump says that America will have to take control of Greenland to prevent Russia and China from occupying Greenland. Trump said that any country should own its things, just renting it does not work. According to him, only if Greenland belongs to America, it can be properly protected. He also said that America will do this work either in an easy way or in a difficult way.

A few days after the military operation in Venezuela, US President Donald Trump has threatened Cuba. On Sunday (January 11, 2025), Trump suggested to Cuba that they should make a deal with America, lest it be too late. He warned that otherwise Cuba’s oil and funds would be stopped.
Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, ‘Now neither oil nor money will go to Cuba – zero! I advise them to sign a deal before it is too late.

Trump wrote, ‘Cuba depended on huge amounts of oil and funds from Venezuela for many years. In return, Cuba provided ‘security services’ to Venezuela’s last two dictators, but no more.’ The US President said last week’s US invasion of Cuba killed most Cubans and that Venezuelans no longer needed protection from the gangsters and extortionists who had held them hostage for so many years.

The US President further wrote, ‘Venezuela now has the United States, the most powerful military in the world, which will protect them and we will protect them. No more oil or money will be sent to Cuba – ZERO! I suggest they reach a compromise before it’s too late.

America arrested Maduro along with his wife

On January 3, America took military action in Venezuela and arrested its President Nicolas Maduro along with his wife. America said that this action was against drug trafficking and a case is being prosecuted against them in New York court. Let us tell you that Venezuela has the world’s largest crude oil reserves, which is about 300 billion barrels.

The administration led by US President Donald Trump has started working on a surprising strategy to bring Greenland under its control. According to reports, the Trump administration is planning to give cash directly to the people of Greenland so that they agree to separate from Denmark and join the US.

According to the report of news agency Reuters, American officials are considering the option of giving a lump sum amount ranging from $ 10,000 to $ 1 lakh to every citizen of Greenland. If this plan is implemented, America may have to bear a total expenditure of about 6 billion dollars. However, no official announcement has been made by America yet regarding this proposal.

Why does Trump want Greenland?

Donald Trump has been continuously saying that Greenland is very important for America from national security point of view. He believes that control over Greenland is necessary to stop the increasing activities of Russia and China in the Arctic region. Trump has already expressed his desire to buy Greenland and has even said that military options cannot be ruled out.

Strong opposition from Denmark and Greenland

Both Greenland and Denmark have rejected Trump’s plan outright. Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens Frederik Nielsen has clearly said that Greenland is not for sale and now such fantasies have no meaning. The Danish Prime Minister even warned that if America attacked Greenland, it would raise questions about the existence of the NATO alliance.

European countries expressed concern

After Trump’s statements, the stir in Europe has also intensified. France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Britain and Denmark have issued a joint statement supporting the territorial integrity of Greenland. European leaders have clearly said that only Greenland and Denmark can decide the future of Greenland.

Why is Greenland so important?

Greenland is an area rich in natural resources and has large reserves of rare minerals. Its population is about 57 thousand and it is currently a semi-autonomous region of Denmark, where Denmark has the responsibility of foreign policy and defense.

Football’s international body FIFA announced its new FIFA Peace Prize for the first time. This award has been given to US President Donald Trump, after which the sports world, analysts and human rights organizations expressed displeasure at FIFA. Just before this announcement, several people were confirmed dead in an airstrike conducted by the US military in the Caribbean region, which made this decision even more controversial.

According to the report of Al Jazeera, at the awards ceremony, FIFA President Gianni Infantino praised Trump on the open stage and said that he is being honored for his efforts to make the world safe. Infantino also praised Trump’s diplomatic role while mentioning the Abraham Accords. However, critics allege that the same FIFA, which prevents players from making political statements, is itself indulging in political praise. This has raised serious questions on the neutral image of the organization.

Memes are being made on social media

Many prestigious human rights organizations called this step of FIFA disappointing. Former UN official Craig Mokhibar called it a direct attack on FIFA’s credibility. Apart from this, as soon as this news spread on social media, it became a topic not of discussion but of satire. Football journalist Zack Lowy sarcastically said that giving the peace prize to Trump is like giving Suarez the honor of fair play. The American Democratic Party called it a political joke and said that if it did not get the Nobel Prize, it would have made FIFA its own.

Trump’s foreign policy: a clash of claims and realities

While accepting the award, Trump said that eight wars ended during his tenure and his policies “saved the lives of millions of people. However, questions are being raised that attacks on Iran’s nuclear bases were carried out on Trump’s orders, providing arms to Israel during the Gaza conflict, repeated strikes in the Caribbean region and attempts to create military pressure in Venezuela. All these have weakened his peace-making image.

Will this affect the image of FIFA?

The 2026 World Cup is to be held in America, Mexico and Canada, so many experts are considering the growing closeness between Infantino and Trump as a threat to the fairness of the game. Many human rights activists believe that taking political sides of a big organization like FIFA tarnishes the free and fair image of sport. Craig Mokhibar had said that FIFA is playing in the mud, but when it is seen standing on the ground drenched in blood, it seems even more horrifying.

US President Donald seems to be in a mood to take legal action against BBC. He has said that he will recover 5 billion dollars from BBC. Britain’s public broadcast company BBC had apologized to him last year for editing his speech in a documentary and running it incompletely.

Trump told media persons on Saturday, ‘We will sue them. We will sue them for one billion to five billion US dollars. Will take such steps next week.

He said, ‘We have to do this, they have admitted that they (BBC) have committed fraud. He changed the words that came out of my mouth.

The controversy comes after a tense period for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), which resulted in the resignation of top BBC executives. Its Indian-origin chief Sameer Shah has also apologized.

What was the opinion of BBC?

On Thursday, the BBC said that editing of Trump’s January 6, 2021 speech had created the false impression that the President had directly called for violent action. It will not be broadcast again. BBC has apologized to the US President. But has refused to give any kind of compensation.

Trump had threatened

Trump had threatened to sue the public broadcaster for one billion US dollars if he did not retract the statement, apologize and compensate him. However, he has now said that despite the apology he intends to take legal action.

In an interview given to Britain’s ‘GB News’, Trump said that although he does not want to get involved in the lawsuit, he feels that it is his responsibility to do so.
He said, ‘This is a very serious matter. If you don’t do this, you can’t stop it from happening again to other people.

The controversial ‘Panorama’ footage was broadcast in October 2024. In this, Trump’s speech given in Washington DC in 2021 was mentioned. He had told his supporters, ‘We will walk to the Capitol (Parliament) and encourage our brave MPs and women.’

More than 50 minutes into the speech, he said, “And we fight.” We fight with all our heart.

However, the program showed him saying, ‘We will walk to the Capitol… and I will be there with you.’ And we will fight. We will fight tooth and nail.

The controversy over the way Trump’s speech was edited led to the resignation of BBC Director General Tim Davie and Head of News Deborah Turnness.

A BBC statement said: ‘We acknowledge that our editing inadvertently created the impression that we were showing the same part of the speech continuously, rather than different parts of it. This created the false impression that President Trump had made a direct call for violent action.

A BBC spokesperson said the broadcaster’s lawyers have written to Trump’s legal team in response, and BBC chairman Samir Shah has sent a separate personal letter to the White House, “making clear to President Trump that he and the public broadcaster regret the editing of the President’s speech on January 6, 2021, which was shown in the program.”

The spokesperson said: ‘However, the BBC regrets that the way the video clip was edited was incorrect. But we completely disagree that there is any basis for a defamation claim in this.

North Korean ruler Kim Jong Un is willing to talk to America and this meeting can happen soon in Washington. Yonhap News Agency has made this claim quoting some reports of South Korea’s Intelligence Agency (NIS). According to the report, the South Korean agency feels that there is a possibility of a summit between North Korea and America.

The intelligence agency estimates that this meeting may take place after the joint military drill between America and South Korea in March next year. According to the report, after the parliamentary audit on the National Intelligence Service (NIS), MP Lee Seong-kwan told reporters, ‘NIS believes that Kim Jong Un is ready for talks with the US and will contact the US when the conditions are right.’

North Korea ready to talk to America on this condition

Requested comment from the White House regarding the possibility of a summit, but did not receive a response. North Korean leader Kim has said that he is ready to talk to America if Washington gives up the demand to eliminate nuclear weapons, but when US President Donald Trump offered talks during his visit to South Korea last week, he (Kim) did not respond publicly.

Trump, who visited South Korea before the APEC summit last week, had said while answering media questions, ‘We will come back and very soon, we will meet North Korea.’ Trump and Kim held summit talks in 2018 and 2019 before talks broke down over Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons arsenal. North Korea is under strict international sanctions regarding these weapons as well as its ballistic missiles.

Kim fears high blood pressure

Yonhap reported that another lawmaker told reporters after the parliamentary session that Kim did not appear to have any major health problems, although there were earlier reports that he may have high blood pressure. The lawmaker said the North Korean leader’s teenage daughter, Kim Ju Ae, is strengthening her position as his potential successor, although she has been out of the limelight for the past 60 days.

Amidst the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan after Operation Sindoor, US President Donald Trump has dropped a bomb by saying that Pakistan is engaged in conducting underground nuclear tests. Trump even claims that mild earthquakes are occurring due to these nuclear tests.

It is noteworthy that during Operation Sindoor, the Indian Air Force had destroyed at least three nuclear bases of Pakistan by attacking them with BrahMos missile. India attacked Pakistan’s Kirana Hills (Sargodha), Noor Khan Air Base and Rahim Yar Khan Base and carried out heavy bombing on the night of 9-10.

Pakistan’s nuclear blackmailing exposed

Pakistan’s Nuclear Command and Control Center was completely destroyed in these attacks by India. This is the reason why Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Army had said that after these attacks, Pakistan’s nuclear blackmailing has been exposed. Amidst these claims of India, Trump’s statement is being considered very important.

Trump, who returned to his country after meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea, has made a big revelation to a TV channel about the nuclear tests taking place around the world. Trump said that countries like Russia, China, North Korea and Pakistan are conducting nuclear tests, hence America is also going to conduct nuclear tests after 33 years.

US President’s claim regarding nuclear test

On the argument of the channel anchor that they (Russia, China etc.) are testing missiles capable of carrying nuclear weapons and not nuclear tests, Trump said that not all countries are as open-minded as America. According to Trump, there is no reporting about nuclear tests in these countries.

The US President also said that these tests are done underground, due to which no one is aware of this, but Trump definitely said that during these tests, slight vibrations (shocks) definitely occur in the earth.

Tremors on Pakistan-Afghanistan border

The special thing is that during Operation Sindoor, mild earthquake tremors were felt for several days on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. During that time, it was feared that these vibrations could be due to Pakistan’s nuclear test, but no concrete evidence was revealed.

America and Pakistan have come very close after Operation Sindoor. On Trump’s invitation, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir visited the White House. In such a situation, there is a strong possibility that either Munir or Shahbaz has given the information about the nuclear test to Trump.

Former CIA officer disclosed

Recently, a former officer of America’s intelligence agency CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) had revealed that America is responsible for handling Pakistan’s nuclear weapons. This CIA officer has been posted in Pakistan for many years.

According to the latest report (2025) of SIPRI (Stockholm International Peace Research Institute), a global think tank that keeps track of nuclear weapons around the world, Pakistan has 170 nuclear weapons in its arsenal. According to the report, India has slightly more nuclear weapons than Pakistan i.e. 172.

12,405 nuclear weapons worldwide

In the year 2018, PM Modi himself, on the first patrolling of the nuclear submarine INS Arihant, had informed about the country becoming a nuclear power in the nuclear triad i.e. water, land and sky. According to SIPRI, at present there are 12,405 nuclear weapons in the world.

Of these, Russia has the maximum of 5580 in its reserves. America is at second place with 5328 weapons and China (500) is at third place. England and France have 225 and 290 respectively, while North Korea has 50 and Israel has 90.

US President Donald Trump has once again taken a shocking decision and announced to impose 10% additional tariff on products coming from Canada. This step has been implemented with immediate effect. This decision of Trump has come at a time when he had recently ended all the ongoing trade negotiations with Canada. The new controversy began with a Canadian political ad that distorted excerpts from a 1987 radio speech by former US President Ronald Reagan.

Posting on the social media site Truth Social, Trump accused Canada of fraud and presenting false information. He said that the Ontario government tried to discredit American policies by distorting Reagan’s words. Trump wrote that Canada has made a serious mistake, so I am imposing additional tariffs.

Reagan Foundation response

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation condemned the ad, saying it used excerpts from Reagan’s speech without permission and misrepresented the message. The foundation said Reagan’s statement was about general trade policy, not about any particular individual.

Tariff war already underway

Trump has already imposed a 25% tariff on Canadian exports and a 10% duty on energy products. In response, Canada also imposed tariffs on American goods, including products such as orange juice, wine, coffee, apparel and steel. Now the new 10% tariff will further increase the already ongoing tension between the two countries.

Canada’s stance and future prospects

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney had recently said that Canada is ready to resume trade talks with America, but this new step by Trump may hinder that direction. Experts believe that if the tariff policy continues further, it may have a negative impact on the economy of both the countries.

The US government has said it will fight lawsuits aimed at blocking the US$100,000 fee imposed on new H-1B visa applications. He said the system has been filled with fraud for too long and should be overhauled to prioritize American workers. White House Press Secretary Carolyn Levitt made this comment on Thursday (October 23, 2025).

A lawsuit was filed last week by the US Chamber of Commerce against the fee of US $ 100,000 on H-1B visa applications. The lawsuit filed described the US government’s tariff move as a ‘misleading policy’ and ‘clearly illegal’ action, which could undermine American innovation and competition.

US government’s clarification regarding H-1B visa system

Various employee organizations, employers and religious organizations have filed suit in a federal court in California against the Trump administration’s decision to impose excessive fees on new H-1B applications. “The administration will fight these lawsuits in court,” Levitt told reporters. He said that the main priority of President Donald Trump has always been to give priority to American workers and strengthen the visa system.

Levitt said, ‘For too long, the H-1B visa system has been rife with fraud and has driven down wages for Americans. Therefore, the President wants to improve this system and that is why he has implemented these new policies.

Adverse impact on Indian citizens

On September 19, Trump had decided to increase the fee for the new H-1B visa to one lakh US dollars (about Rs 88 lakh). This step may adversely affect Indian professionals living in America on visa. According to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), about 71 percent of all H-1B applications approved in recent years are from Indians.
