Gas Discovery in India: Recently there were reports that oil reserves have been found in the Sindh province of India’s neighboring country Pakistan. Apart from this, there are also reports regarding gas that gas reserves have also been found there. Due to which an atmosphere of happiness was created in Pakistan. Meanwhile, there are reports now that gas reserves have been found in India too. After facing shortage of gas for the past several days, now getting stock of gas is a matter of happiness and relief in itself.

Oil India report
In fact, the government company Oil India Limited has found another large reserve of natural gas in the Andaman Sea region of India. It has been told by the company that natural gas has been found in a well in Vijaypuram-3 near the coast of Andaman. This is the company’s second important hydrocarbon (oil-gas) discovery in this area. According to the company, the Vijayapuram-3 well is located about 15 kilometers away from the eastern coast of the Andaman Islands.

natural gas found in depth
Drilling at this place was done in 355 meter deep sea area. During initial investigation, signs of natural gas were found at a depth of more than 1900 meters and gas was seen coming out continuously, which confirmed its presence here.

Oil India’s statement
Talking about this, Oil India said that this discovery is also important because it indicates that large reserves of oil and gas may exist in the Andaman Sea area. However, it has not been decided yet whether production from here will be possible from a business point of view or not. More tests will be done for this in the coming time. The company is currently testing the gas samples to ascertain its quality and energy potential. Not only this, scientists are studying from which source the gas is made.

Let us tell you that earlier in September 2025, information about finding of natural gas in Vijaypuram-2 well had also come to light. So far, signs of gas have been found in two of the three wells dug in this block. This has further increased confidence in the possibilities of the area.

Pakistan’s government oil and gas company OGDCL (Oil and Gas Development Company Limited) has found a large amount of oil and gas from the Bobi Deep-1 well located in Sanghar district of Sindh province. The company is going to use this energy for the upliftment of the country.

What did the company say?
According to OGDCL, 2 thousand barrels of oil and 11 lakh standard cubic feet of gas can be produced every day from one layer of Lower Goru Formation in Bobby Deep-1 well. During research, it has been confirmed that there are good reserves of hydrocarbons (oil and gas) in this area. The company has called it a big achievement, because this is the first such discovery in the Bobby and Dhamraki mining lease area.

During this project, the company had to face many technical and ground challenges, due to which the drilling work had to be stopped earlier. However, instead of closing the project, OGDCL took the help of local people and scientists. The company’s engineers and geologists conducted a detailed study in collaboration with the Center for Pure and Applied Geology of Sindh University, Jamshoro.

After modern survey, geological analysis and technical evaluation, a new model was prepared, which reduced the risk and drilling work could be resumed. This discovery was made after finally reaching the goal. OGDCL believes that this discovery will increase Pakistan’s domestic oil and gas production, reduce dependence on imported energy and strengthen the country’s energy security. This is expected to add new reserves in the future and also promote the development of the energy sector.
