Despite the ongoing heavy snowfall in Kedarnath Dham of Uttarakhand and the temperature falling below zero, the soldiers deployed in the security system are discharging their duties with full alertness. During the winter period, when the entire Dham is covered in a white blanket of snow and the movement of people remains completely closed, even at that time the soldiers of Indian Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Rudraprayag Police are stationed in Kedarnath.

Due to continuous snowfall, it is extremely cold in the Dham. The temperature has reached several degrees below zero, but regardless of the adverse conditions, the soldiers are patrolling the temple premises and surrounding areas 24 hours a day. Along with the security of Kedarnath temple, these soldiers are also responsible for monitoring the assets of the Dham.

Along with monitoring the roads are also being maintained

Roads are completely blocked due to heavy snow accumulation. In such a situation, the security personnel are not only handling the work of monitoring, but are also continuously doing the work of removing snow from the roads. Soldiers carrying shovels on their shoulders are clearing the roads by cutting snow, so that in case of any emergency, traffic is not disrupted and essential services can be maintained smoothly.

There is silence in Kedarnath Dham during the winter season, but there is no lack in the vigilance of the security forces. ITBP personnel are deployed with modern equipment and special winter uniforms, while the local police force is also keeping a close watch on every activity. Regular patrolling is being done in the temple premises, roads and surrounding sensitive areas.

Security priority of Kedarnath Dham

Security officials say that despite the difficult weather and inaccessible conditions, the soldiers are fully alert and ready to deal with any challenge. Maintaining the dignity and security of Kedarnath Dham is his top priority.

Standing amidst the icy winds and minus temperatures, these soldiers are not only keeping a strong guard of security, but are also setting an example of devotion and service spirit. This promptness of the security forces deployed in Kedarnath Dham shows the strong picture of the country’s security system in every situation.

Supreme Court Directs Union Home Ministry: The Supreme Court has clearly stated in its judgment that in view of the operational and functional needs of the forces, it is necessary that the cadre officials should be posted in senior positions. Along with this, the lateral entry of IPS officers in paramilitary forces is facing a lot of problems for cadre officers to reach high positions. In such a situation, the Supreme Court has directed to reduce the appointment of IPS officers coming on deputation in the next two years.

Currently, officers are appointed in central police forces in two ways. From Assistant Commandant to DIG, officers of the cadre are usually appointed. The IPS officer is appointed from IG to Director General (DG) posts. These IPS officers come on a central appointment on deputation for some time.

Responsibility of central paramilitary forces

Central paramilitary forces include CRPF, BSF and ITBP, besides Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

If the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is responsible for internal security and law and order, then BSF is responsible for the security of Pakistan and Bangladesh border. The SSB is responsible for the security of Nepal and Bhutan and the India-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is responsible for the border with China (Tibet). CISF is responsible for the protection of important institutions and heritage of the country. NDRF is responsible for fighting natural and human disasters.

SSC Cadre officers join central police forces through

If the cadre officers pass the examination of the Service Selection Commission (SSC), they appear in the Central Police Forces, then the Indian Police Service (IPS) officers join the separate police of the states through UPSC examination. Only these IPS officers are posted in senior positions in the Central Police Forces on central deputation for some time.

Supreme Court directed to review

In recent years, cadre officers have been appointed till ADG rank. But the number of such officers is very less. This is the reason that the matter reached the Supreme Court. The two member bench of the Supreme Court has now directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to review the cadre.
