Businessman from Gujarat and MP from Andhra Pradesh has now entered the politics of Jharkhand. YSR Congress Party MP Parimal Nathwani has been supported by the BJP-led alliance NDA as an independent candidate for the Jharkhand Rajya Sabha elections. After this, elections in Jharkhand are going to be interesting.

Now three candidates are in the fray for two seats in Jharkhand. Hemant Soren has chosen Dalit face Baidyanath Ram from his party JMM. At the same time, Pranab Jha of Congress is also in the electoral fray. With this, NDA has now made this election interesting by supporting independent Parimal Nathwani. Now the focus is on whether the NDA-backed candidates will be able to bridge the gap between the opposition alliance’s numbers and the votes required for victory?

Jharkhand Rajya Sabha Chunav: Resort politics amid Rajya Sabha elections in Jharkhand! Will MLAs be sent to Telangana?

Parimal Nathwani had sought support from all parties

After filing nomination for Jharkhand Rajya Sabha elections, independent candidate Parimal Nathwani appealed to all the parties to support him. During this, Parimal said that he has good relations with the leaders of all political parties.

What did BJP say on supporting Parimal Nathwani?

On supporting Parimal Nathwani for Rajya Sabha, BJP leader Pratul Shahdev said, “BJP tried till the last moment to field a candidate from its own party in Jharkhand, but we definitely did not have the numbers. We have 21 MLAs, whereas we need 28. Even including the alliance partners, this number would have reached only 24. We tried our best, but when the circumstances were not in our favour, we decided to support Parimal Nathwani.”

The BJP leader said that Parimal is an independent candidate, who has been a Rajya Sabha member twice before and his work record has been very good. Parimal Nathwani asked us for support from BJP and the party supported him.

Congress’s reaction on Parimal Nathwani

Former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand Congress observer Bhupesh Baghel reacted to the Rajya Sabha elections and the nomination of Parimal Nathwani. He said that the strategy of Congress regarding Rajya Sabha in Jharkhand is firm. The grand alliance of Congress-JMM is united. Only we will win.

Regarding Parimal Nathwani, Bhupesh Baghel said, “BJP has supported the money animal. We have a government in Jharkhand, there will be no horse trading there. There is no need to shift the MLAs.”

Rajya Sabha seat sharing dispute resolved between JMM and Congress, now who will contest elections in Jharkhand?

Before the upcoming assembly elections, an important change is being seen in the politics of Assam. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), the main political party of the tribal-dominated state of Jharkhand, has announced full support to Assam’s regional party Jai Bharat Party (JBP). The main objective of this alliance is to solve the long-standing problems of the tribal and tea tribe communities of Assam.

Jai Bharat Party, formed about two years ago with the cooperation of various tribal organizations, groups and communities of Assam, has now got the strong support of JMM. Both the parties are contesting elections together on a common platform and are making strategies to solve the socio-economic issues of the communities by gaining political power. In this assembly elections, this alliance has fielded joint candidates on 18 seats, which indicates a new direction in the politics of Assam.

support of former militants

This political initiative has also received open support from members of former tribal militant organizations who have now returned to the mainstream. Notably, Sahil Munda, who has previously been a top leader of a militant organization, is contesting from Sarupathar assembly constituency. Under his leadership, many former members are playing an active role in supporting Jai Bharat Party and JMM this time.

growing political influence

According to party leaders, their main objective of contesting the elections is to solve the age-old problems of their community. Sahil Munda said that this is just the beginning and tribal and tea tribe communities play a decisive role in about 40 assembly seats of Assam. He also said that in future this alliance will contest elections on all these seats and will also ensure its participation in the Lok Sabha elections. He believes that in the coming times, Jai Bharat Party and JMM will emerge as an important force in the politics of Assam.

Emphasis on tribal rights

The alliance has made it clear that their main goal is to free the tribal and tea tribe communities from the exploitation and neglect they have been facing for years. Special emphasis is being laid on providing tribal status (ST status) and solving other basic problems.

Sahil Munda also alleged that many tribal militants who had surrendered in the last three years have not received any adequate assistance from the government. He said that many of these people are today forced to earn their living by doing daily wage labour.

New equation in Assam politics

This alliance of Jai Bharat Party and JMM is moving towards creating a new equation in the politics of Assam. Tribal and tea tribe communities, which have long played an important role in government formation, may now emerge as an organized political force.

Political analysts believe that due to the activeness of this alliance, a big change can be seen in the politics of Assam in the coming times, in which the role of tribal leadership can become stronger with the possibility of becoming a tribal Chief Minister.

Political turmoil has intensified regarding Assam Assembly elections. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has made it clear that it will contest the elections alone this time. There were definitely attempts for an alliance with Congress, but things did not work out.

The top leadership of JMM had talked to the leaders of the Indian National Congress. Several rounds of discussions took place between the two parties regarding seat distribution and strategy, but no consensus could be reached. After this JMM decided to contest the elections alone.

Candidates fielded on 19 seats

JMM has announced to field its candidates on 19 seats in Assam. The party has also got the bow and arrow election symbol and the process of giving symbols to the candidates has been started. Party’s Central General Secretary Vinod Pandey handed over election symbols to the candidates.

Major candidates announced

The party has also declared the names of candidates on some important seats. Preeti Rekha Barla has been given ticket from Majbat assembly seat. Baldev Teli has been made the candidate from Sonari seat. Apart from this, JMM has decided to leave one seat for CPIML as an ally.

Eye on tea plantation and tribal votes

JMM’s strategy is to focus specifically on the tea plantation areas of Assam and the T-tribe and tribal vote banks living there. The party hopes that its influence in these areas will help in the election results.

The interesting thing is that in Jharkhand, JMM and Congress are running the government together, but in Assam both the parties are contesting elections separately. It is clear from this that political equations are changing according to the states.

Voting for the assembly elections in Assam is to be held on 9 April. The last date for nomination is today, so all the parties are rapidly finalizing their candidates.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has given a big signal regarding the assembly elections to be held in the coming days in Assam and West Bengal. The party is now preparing to move out of Jharkhand and make its mark on the national platform. Speaking to the media in Dumka, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that a large number of tribals live in Assam and Bengal and JMM can also contest elections in these states to become their voice.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has made it clear that his party will no longer be limited to Jharkhand only and will expand its scope. Before leaving for Ranchi on Tuesday, at Dumka airport, the CM expressed his intention to contest the upcoming elections in Assam and West Bengal.

Shibu Soren had a long association with Assam and Bengal – Hemant Soren

CM Hemant Soren said, “His father and Dishom Guru Shibu Soren has an old relationship with many areas of Assam and Bengal. People there know JMM. Many tribals of Jharkhand have been settled in Assam for a long time and are fighting for their rights. In such a situation, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) can come forward to fight their battle.

Bengal politics will heat up regarding tribal vote bank

However, after this statement of CM Hemant Soren, a new stir can be seen in the politics of Assam and Bengal, especially regarding the tribal vote bank. Jharkhand CM and JMM President Hemant Soren addressed a huge rally of Adivasi Mahasabha organized in Tinsukia district of Assam on Sunday (01 February). During this time, he had prominently raised the issue of identity, rights and recognition of lakhs of tribals who were displaced from Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal.

A big statement has come from the leader of Chief Minister Hemant Soren amid speculations of a major upheaval in the Jharkhand government. Putting an end to speculations about breaking of alliance between Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress, JMM leader Manoj Pandey has clarified the situation.

Manoj Pandey says that Hemant Soren’s government will complete its tenure. There will be no question of breaking the alliance. Why would the alliance break?

Why did Hemant Soren go to Delhi?

JMM leader Manoj Pandey has also responded to the ongoing political speculations after Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s visit to Delhi. He has said that Hemant Soren had gone to Delhi for personal reasons. Unnecessary speculations are being made about Jharkhand. Jharkhand government will complete its five-year tenure.

In fact, regarding the visit of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his wife Kalpana to Delhi, speculations had started that the JMM chief had gone there to meet the BJP high command. Speculations began to discuss the nexus between JMM and BJP in the upcoming elections.

What was the reaction of Congress?

When the Congress leader was questioned on this matter, state spokesperson Rakesh Sinha termed these speculations as baseless. He said that those who are thinking that there can be an alliance between JMM and BJP are wrong in their thinking.

Accusing BJP, Rakesh Sinha also claimed that all these rumors are being spread by BJP only to break the morale of the MLAs in Jharkhand. They do not have any official evidence regarding this. At the same time, the Congress leader claimed that India Alliance is strong in Jharkhand and Congress ministers under the leadership of Hemant Soren will continue to work for the development of Jharkhand.

BJP also rejected the speculations

Not only JMM or Congress, but BJP itself is calling such speculations as baseless that there can be an alliance between Hemant Soren and BJP. The BJP leader says that JMM and BJP are two sides of the ocean and can never come together. Hemant Soren’s visit to Delhi was not to meet BJP leaders. Only he can tell why he went to Delhi.

Amidst the Bihar Assembly elections (2025), on Tuesday (October 21, 2025), RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari said that when Rashtriya Janata Dal released the list of its candidates, everyone saw that our party gave priority to women. Maximum 24 women have been given tickets. All castes and religions have been taken care of. The party has given tickets to the winning candidates. The party made the MLAs whose tickets were cut the first MLA. Gave everything. Gave respect. Will stand with them in future also.

The RJD leader said that in some places the MLAs of our party have also filed nominations, but the public votes for the party. Votes on Tejashwi Yadav’s face. Therefore we will say that we should talk about the interest of the party.

What did RJD say on JMM’s displeasure?

Mrityunjay Tiwari was talking to news agency ANI. On a question that JMM is angry, the party says that we were not given seats, it has also said that we will consider how to run the government in Jharkhand. On this, the RJD leader said, “Tejashwi Yadav has worked on the formula that respect should be given to everyone in the grand alliance, but the alliance has some compulsions of its own. All allies should understand this. RJD is the biggest force in Bihar and the big battle that is being fought in Bihar will strengthen the grand alliance in the entire country.”

Countering Chirag Paswan’s statement regarding friendly fight in the Grand Alliance, the RJD leader said, “Till now there was fighting in the NDA. What were Jitan Ram Manjhi and Upendra Kushwaha saying? Everyone was fighting in the NDA. If there are candidates from RJD and Congress on some seats, then there will be competition there.” Regarding the friendly fight, Mrityunjay Tiwari said, “NDA will not get any benefit from this. If there is a situation on some seats (with friendly fight), then at most NDA will win only 10 seats, Tejashwi Yadav will win the rest of the seats. All is well here.”

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)’s displeasure for India Alliance before Bihar Assembly elections has given new political signals. Jharkhand government minister and Giridih MLA Sudivya Kumar Sonu made it clear in the press conference that JMM will not participate in the Bihar assembly elections.

Also, it will not campaign in favor of any candidate of the Grand Alliance. Now it remains to be seen whether the alliance of India Alliance will break in Jharkhand also.

JMM decided not to contest elections in Bihar

Sudivya Kumar said that this decision of the party was taken due to Congress and RJD not following the coalition dharma. He said that JMM was kept entangled in seat distribution and other arrangements in Bihar and at the last moment some such circumstances arose due to which JMM decided not to contest elections in Bihar. The minister alleged that just as Congress and RJD were given support and seats in Jharkhand while playing the role of elder brothers, similarly injustice was done to JMM in Bihar.

Congress did not take any clear stand in favor of JMM

Sudivya Kumar further said that Congress did not take any clear stand in favor of JMM nor did it take any initiative for mediation. For this reason, JMM took the step of not contesting elections in Bihar. He clarified that both RJD and Congress are responsible in this matter.

On October 18, JMM led by Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren had also announced to contest elections independently in Bihar. The party said that it will not be a part of any alliance and will field its candidates only from six assembly seats Chakai, Dhamdaha, Katoria, Manihari, Jamui and Peerpainti. JMM General Secretary Supremo Bhattacharya said that the party’s support base is continuously increasing in these border seats and their main focus will be to raise the issues of tribals and deprived classes prominently.

BJP took a dig at this decision of JMM

BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shah Dev said that JMM has set a new example of shamelessness by changing its stand in the last one week. First he ran away from Bengal, now he ran away from Bihar also. The whole incident reminds of ‘Bhaag JMM Bhaag’.

Analysts believe that JMM’s displeasure and dissatisfaction over seat distribution in Bihar can become a challenge for India Alliance in Jharkhand. The impact of this step will be seen not only in Bihar elections but also on the political situation of the alliance in Jharkhand. If there is no balance in the alliance then the possibility of India Alliance breaking in Jharkhand may also increase.

Now only two days are left for the nomination process to end for the second and final phase of Bihar Assembly elections, but the internal tussle of the opposition alliance ‘India’ is not showing any sign of stopping.

On Saturday (October 18), another shock came in the ongoing confusion regarding seat sharing when Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) separated from the alliance and announced to contest the elections alone in Bihar. The party has announced to field candidates on six seats.

Congress has announced 54 candidates so far

Here, the main party of the alliance, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has declared its candidates on many seats, including some areas where its allies are already contenders. Still, the final list of RJD has not been released yet. Congress has announced 54 candidates so far. The new list released late Saturday evening includes seats like Kishanganj, Kasba, Purnia and Gaya Nagar.

Who got the ticket from where?

From Kishanganj, Congress has given ticket to Kamrul Hoda, who was first in AIMIM and later in RJD. Similarly, Irfan Alam has been fielded from Kasba seat. It is being told that due to the displeasure of Purnia MP Pappu Yadav, Irfan got the chance in place of Afaq Alam. Jitendra Yadav has been given ticket from Purnia and Mahendra Srivastava from Gaya Nagar.

Congress will contest elections on fewer seats than in 2020

According to sources, this time Congress will contest elections on fewer seats than in 2020. However, there was huge dissatisfaction in the party regarding ticket distribution. Many angry leaders held a press conference in Patna and accused AICC in-charge Krishna Allavaru of ‘selling tickets’.

At present, two allies are facing each other on at least eight seats in the alliance, out of which a direct contest is possible between Congress and RJD on three seats. Kutumba, the seat of Congress state president Rajesh Ram, is also said to be embroiled in the same dispute.

The picture will be clear by the last date of nomination

Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhary has claimed that the agreement is almost certain, the picture will be clear by the last date of withdrawal of nominations. On the other hand, everything is not smooth in NDA also. JD(U) gave ticket to Sabir Ali from Amour seat at the last moment, whereas earlier the name of Saba Zafar was fixed. On the other hand, nomination of LJP (Ram Vilas) candidate Seema Singh on Marhaura seat was cancelled, due to which RJD candidate Jitendra Rai is likely to get the lead. As the elections are coming closer, the politics of alliances is getting more complicated and the picture still remains blurry for the voters.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has decided to separate from the Grand Alliance and contest elections in Bihar, due to which politics has intensified. BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav regarding this.

BJP targets Rahul-Tejashwi

Amit Malviya posted on X and said, “Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in Bihar released the list of its candidates and also announced that it is no longer a part of the Grand Alliance. Not only this, the party also said that after the Bihar elections, the alliance will be reconsidered in Jharkhand too. The arrogance of Rahul and Tejashwi is the real reason for the disintegration of the Grand Alliance. Bihar was saved.”

JMM will contest elections on six seats

JMM will contest from six assembly seats Chakai, Dhamdaha, Katoria (reserved), Manihari (reserved), Jamui and Peerpainti. Voting on these seats will be held in the second phase on November 11. JMM general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said, “The party has decided to contest the Bihar elections on its own. There are contradictions within the NDA as well as within the grand alliance. There is infighting on many seats. We will also review the alliance in the state as there has been betrayal every time.”

JMM targets grand alliance

He said, “Our party will not contest elections with the Grand Alliance. They have betrayed JMM. We will ensure that our party also participates in the next government formed in Bihar.” Internal strife is in full swing between RJD, Congress and Left parties in the Grand Alliance. Grand alliance parties are facing each other on many seats including Bachhwara, Rosra, Rajapakar.

Voting for 243 seats of Bihar Assembly will be held on November 6 and November 11 and counting of votes will take place on November 14. Before that, the entry of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, which was part of the Indian alliance, in this election has created trouble for RJD. JMM is trying to strengthen its hold in the border areas of Jharkhand-Bihar.
