A big statement has come from the leader of Chief Minister Hemant Soren amid speculations of a major upheaval in the Jharkhand government. Putting an end to speculations about breaking of alliance between Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress, JMM leader Manoj Pandey has clarified the situation.

Manoj Pandey says that Hemant Soren’s government will complete its tenure. There will be no question of breaking the alliance. Why would the alliance break?

Why did Hemant Soren go to Delhi?

JMM leader Manoj Pandey has also responded to the ongoing political speculations after Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s visit to Delhi. He has said that Hemant Soren had gone to Delhi for personal reasons. Unnecessary speculations are being made about Jharkhand. Jharkhand government will complete its five-year tenure.

In fact, regarding the visit of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his wife Kalpana to Delhi, speculations had started that the JMM chief had gone there to meet the BJP high command. Speculations began to discuss the nexus between JMM and BJP in the upcoming elections.

What was the reaction of Congress?

When the Congress leader was questioned on this matter, state spokesperson Rakesh Sinha termed these speculations as baseless. He said that those who are thinking that there can be an alliance between JMM and BJP are wrong in their thinking.

Accusing BJP, Rakesh Sinha also claimed that all these rumors are being spread by BJP only to break the morale of the MLAs in Jharkhand. They do not have any official evidence regarding this. At the same time, the Congress leader claimed that India Alliance is strong in Jharkhand and Congress ministers under the leadership of Hemant Soren will continue to work for the development of Jharkhand.

BJP also rejected the speculations

Not only JMM or Congress, but BJP itself is calling such speculations as baseless that there can be an alliance between Hemant Soren and BJP. The BJP leader says that JMM and BJP are two sides of the ocean and can never come together. Hemant Soren’s visit to Delhi was not to meet BJP leaders. Only he can tell why he went to Delhi.

Amidst the Bihar Assembly elections (2025), on Tuesday (October 21, 2025), RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari said that when Rashtriya Janata Dal released the list of its candidates, everyone saw that our party gave priority to women. Countering Chirag Paswan’s statement regarding friendly fight in the Grand Alliance, the RJD leader said, “Till now there was fighting in the NDA. What were Jitan Ram Manjhi and Upendra Kushwaha saying? Everyone was fighting in the NDA. If there are candidates from RJD and Congress on some seats, then there will be competition there.” Regarding the friendly fight, Mrityunjay Tiwari said, “NDA will not get any benefit from this. If there is a situation on some seats (with friendly fight), then at most NDA will win only 10 seats, Tejashwi Yadav will win the rest of the seats. All is well here.”

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)’s displeasure for India Alliance before Bihar Assembly elections has given new political signals. Jharkhand government minister and Giridih MLA Sudivya Kumar Sonu made it clear in the press conference that JMM will not participate in the Bihar assembly elections.

Also, it will not campaign in favor of any candidate of the Grand Alliance. Now it remains to be seen whether the alliance of India Alliance will break in Jharkhand also.

JMM decided not to contest elections in Bihar

Sudivya Kumar said that this decision of the party was taken due to Congress and RJD not following the coalition dharma. He said that JMM was kept entangled in seat distribution and other arrangements in Bihar and at the last moment some such circumstances arose due to which JMM decided not to contest elections in Bihar. The minister alleged that just as Congress and RJD were given support and seats in Jharkhand while playing the role of elder brothers, similarly injustice was done to JMM in Bihar.

Congress did not take any clear stand in favor of JMM

Sudivya Kumar further said that Congress did not take any clear stand in favor of JMM nor did it take any initiative for mediation. For this reason, JMM took the step of not contesting elections in Bihar. He clarified that both RJD and Congress are responsible in this matter.

On October 18, JMM led by Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren had also announced to contest elections independently in Bihar. The party said that it will not be a part of any alliance and will field its candidates only from six assembly seats Chakai, Dhamdaha, Katoria, Manihari, Jamui and Peerpainti. JMM General Secretary Supremo Bhattacharya said that the party’s support base is continuously increasing in these border seats and their main focus will be to raise the issues of tribals and deprived classes prominently.

BJP took a dig at this decision of JMM

BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shah Dev said that JMM has set a new example of shamelessness by changing its stand in the last one week. First he ran away from Bengal, now he ran away from Bihar also. The whole incident reminds of ‘Bhaag JMM Bhaag’.

Analysts believe that JMM’s displeasure and dissatisfaction over seat distribution in Bihar can become a challenge for India Alliance in Jharkhand. The impact of this step will be seen not only in Bihar elections but also on the political situation of the alliance in Jharkhand. If there is no balance in the alliance then the possibility of India Alliance breaking in Jharkhand may also increase.

Now only two days are left for the nomination process to end for the second and final phase of Bihar Assembly elections, but the internal tussle of the opposition alliance ‘India’ is not showing any sign of stopping.

On Saturday (October 18), another shock came in the ongoing confusion regarding seat sharing when Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) separated from the alliance and announced to contest the elections alone in Bihar. The party has announced to field candidates on six seats.

Congress has announced 54 candidates so far

Here, the main party of the alliance, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has declared its candidates on many seats, including some areas where its allies are already contenders. Still, the final list of RJD has not been released yet. Congress has announced 54 candidates so far. The new list released late Saturday evening includes seats like Kishanganj, Kasba, Purnia and Gaya Nagar.

Who got the ticket from where?

From Kishanganj, Congress has given ticket to Kamrul Hoda, who was first in AIMIM and later in RJD. Similarly, Irfan Alam has been fielded from Kasba seat. It is being told that due to the displeasure of Purnia MP Pappu Yadav, Irfan got the chance in place of Afaq Alam. Jitendra Yadav has been given ticket from Purnia and Mahendra Srivastava from Gaya Nagar.

Congress will contest elections on fewer seats than in 2020

According to sources, this time Congress will contest elections on fewer seats than in 2020. However, there was huge dissatisfaction in the party regarding ticket distribution. Many angry leaders held a press conference in Patna and accused AICC in-charge Krishna Allavaru of ‘selling tickets’.

At present, two allies are facing each other on at least eight seats in the alliance, out of which a direct contest is possible between Congress and RJD on three seats. Kutumba, the seat of Congress state president Rajesh Ram, is also said to be embroiled in the same dispute.

Amit Malviya posted on X and said, “Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in Bihar released the list of its candidates and also announced that it is no longer a part of the Grand Alliance. Not only this, the party also said that after the Bihar elections, the alliance will be reconsidered in Jharkhand too. The arrogance of Rahul and Tejashwi is the real reason for the disintegration of the Grand Alliance. Bihar was saved.”

JMM will contest elections on six seats

JMM will contest from six assembly seats Chakai, Dhamdaha, Katoria (reserved), Manihari (reserved), Jamui and Peerpainti. Voting on these seats will be held in the second phase on November 11. JMM general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said, “The party has decided to contest the Bihar elections on its own. There are contradictions within the NDA as well as within the grand alliance. There is infighting on many seats. We will also review the alliance in the state as there has been betrayal every time.”

JMM targets grand alliance

He said, “Our party will not contest elections with the Grand Alliance. They have betrayed JMM. We will ensure that our party also participates in the next government formed in Bihar.” Internal strife is in full swing between RJD, Congress and Left parties in the Grand Alliance. Grand alliance parties are facing each other on many seats including Bachhwara, Rosra, Rajapakar.

Voting for 243 seats of Bihar Assembly will be held on November 6 and November 11 and counting of votes will take place on November 14. Before that, the entry of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, which was part of the Indian alliance, in this election has created trouble for RJD. JMM is trying to strengthen its hold in the border areas of Jharkhand-Bihar.

All political parties are discussing about seat sharing regarding Bihar Assembly elections 2025. Meanwhile, a situation of tension seems to be developing in the Grand Alliance regarding seat sharing. This tussle between the two parties has now reached Delhi, where Tejashwi Yadav can meet Rahul Gandhi so that a solution can be found.

Lalu, Rabri and Tejashwi Yadav will leave for Delhi

JMM gave ultimatum till October 15

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has also demanded its share in Bihar. The party has said that if seat distribution is not decided by October 15, it will release the list of its candidates. JMM has claimed 12 seats in Bihar, which are adjacent to the border of Jharkhand. These include Tarapur, Katoria, Manihari, Jhajha, Banka, Thakurganj, Rupauli, Rampur, Banmankhi, Jamalpur, Peerpainti and Chakai. JMM says that it had given seven seats to RJD in Jharkhand assembly elections, hence it wants respect in the same proportion in Bihar also.

VIP chief Mukesh Sahni’s resentment increased

Mukesh Sahni, head of Grand Alliance’s ally Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) is also angry. He wrote on social media that on November 14, he will form a government where every section will get respect and rights. There was no mention of the Grand Alliance government in his post, which has intensified political speculation. According to sources, Mukesh Sahni has demanded 30 seats and has also laid claim to the post of Deputy CM. Due to this, the problems of the top leadership of the alliance have increased further.

Congress said – the alliance is strong

Congress spokesperson Pawan Kheda said in Ranchi that the alliance in Bihar is strong and RJD, Congress and JMM will contest the elections together. Taking aim at BJP, he said that Home Minister Amit Shah is incompetent and useless and BJP is doing politics of infiltration by diverting the people from the real issues. Kheda also reacted on the Waqf Bill and said that any decision should be taken only after talking to all the parties.

Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand K.K. Ravikumar has issued orders to investigate JMM MLA Dasharatha Gagrai for using the charge of using fake identity cards during the election. This action has been entrusted to the Deputy Commissioner of Seraikela-Kharsawan. The matter has intensified the political stir, raising serious questions on the identity of the MLA.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that a person named Lalji Ram Tiu lodged a complaint against Dasharatha Gagrai, who was an MLA from Kharsawan 3 times. He claimed that the current MLA is actually Ramakrishna Gagarai, who is the elder brother of the real Dasharatha Gagrai.

This complaint has been sent by the Election Officer to Seraikela-Kharsawan Deputy Commissioner Nitish Kumar Singh for investigation. Also, a signed affidavit with the complaint has also been attached, in which allegations related to identity have been recorded in detail.

Dasharatha Gagarai dismissed allegations

MLA Dasharatha Gagarai has dismissed these allegations outright. He said in a conversation with PTI that this complaint is baseless and political motivated. Gagrai claimed that he has submitted affidavits and documents earlier, which have been investigated three times in the assembly elections. He also alleged that the complainants are on bail in the case of rape of a minor and have a habit of making such allegations against the people in power.

In the politics of Jharkhand, this matter has become a matter of discussion, because it is directly related to the eligibility of the MLA and transparency of the election process. Nitish Kumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Seraikela-Kharsawan, will now conduct a thorough investigation into the complaint and submit the report to the Chief Electoral Officer. This case is also considered sensitive in administrative circles, because it raises questions on the Election Code of Conduct and Identification Standards. There is a possibility of warmth about this matter in state politics till the results of the investigation come.

On Thursday (August 28) in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, a resolution demanded to give Bharat Ratna to former Chief Minister of the state late Shibu Soren was passed. In this, a resolution was passed to send a proposal to the Center, recommending the tribal leader and former CM to give Bharat Ratna. State Minister Deepak Birua presented this proposal in the House with voice.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has raised the demand to give Bharat Ratna to the late Shibu Soren, the pioneer of the Jharkhand movement. JMM general secretary and spokesperson Vinod Kumar Pandey appealed to pass a resolution to this effect in the supplementary monsoon session of the assembly. A separate state from Bihar is also considered an important role in the movement to create ‘Jharkhand’. He became the CM of Jharkhand in the year 2005, 2008 and 2009, although he could not complete his term even once.

Jharkhand Education Minister Ramdas Soren died at the age of 62. He breathed his last on Friday (August 15) while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Delhi. Ramdas Soren was admitted to a private hospital in Delhi on August 2 for treatment. The Jharkhand government announced a one -day state mourning on the death of Education Minister Ramdas Soren on Saturday. The national flag on all buildings in Jharkhand will be half bent and no official ceremony will be held.

Now the body of Ramdas Soren has been brought to Ranchi on Saturday (16 August). Ajay Sinha, personal secretary of Ramdas Soren, said that the body of the Education Minister was brought to Bisra Munda Airport in Ranchi in the morning. His body will be kept in the assembly premises in Ranchi where ministers, MLAs and political leaders will pay tribute to him.

After this, the body will be taken to his constituency Ghatshila, where it will be kept in Mau Bhandar Maidan and JMM Camp Office. The leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha was admitted to the national capital hospital from Jamshedpur after falling in the bathroom of the house on August 2.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed condolences on the death of Ramdas Soren. Hemant Soren posted on ‘X’, “Ramdas da (brother) should not have left us like this. The last salute to Dada.”

Ramdas Soren will be remembered for simplicity
Ramdas Soren will always be remembered for his simplicity, grassroots association and unwavering dedication to public service. Ramdas Soren was born on 1 January 1963 in Ghoranda village in East Singhbhum district. He was from a middle class farmer family.

Travel from Pradhan to Cabinet
Ramdas Soren started his political journey as the village head of Ghorbanda Panchayat. Hemant then became one of the most influential ministers in the cabinet led by Soren. He became the President of Jamshedpur East of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in the year 1990.

After this, he moved to Ghatshila and started preparing to contest from there in the 2005 assembly elections, but this seat went to the Congress account, which was a coalition of JMM. Then, he contested as an independent candidate, but lost. Three sons and a daughter’s father, Soren, contested the 2009 assembly election from Ghatshila and became a member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly for the first time.

Ramdas Soren joined the cabinet after Champai Soren’s departure
He lost the seat to BJP’s Laxman Tudu in 2014, but he made a strong comeback in 2019 and captured the seat again. Ramdas Soren won the seat for the third time by defeating Babulal Soren of BJP, son of former Chief Minister Champai Soren.

He was included in the State Cabinet on 30 August after Champai Soren resigned as a minister and MLA. He was made the minister of the Department of School Education and Literacy in Hemant Soren government.

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren said goodbye to the world at the age of 81. He breathed his last at Sir Gangaram Hospital in Delhi on 8.56 in the morning of Monday (August 4). Shibu Soren was struggling with long illness. Two days ago, he was given ventilator support due to overcrowding health.

Shibu Soren has left the family behind him alone. Shibu Soren was survived by his wife Rupi Soren and four children. Durga Soren was the eldest of three sons and a daughter. Then daughter Anjali Soren, third at number three is Hemant Soren (current Chief Minister of Jharkhand) and youngest Basant Soren.

Shibu Soren’s big role in the formation of Jharkhand
Shibu Soren founded the Santhal Navayuvak Sangh at the age of 18. After this, in the year 1972, he along with AK Roy and Binod Bihari Mahato formed the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. The ‘separate state movement’ gave Shibu Soren a identity. Due to this, Jharkhand became a separate state from Bihar in the year 2000.

All three sons of Shibu Soren were active in politics. However, in 2009, the eldest son Durga Soren died suddenly while being an MLA. He met his bed in a dead state. Durga Soren’s wife Sita Soren is currently in BJP. They have three daughters. In addition, Shibu Soren’s youngest son Basant is the head of JMM’s Youth Wing. At the same time, Anjali Soren is a social worker.
