In a conversation with Times of India, Dr. Dinesh Khullar, senior nephrologist and co-writer of the ISOT report, said, “On the basis that the deceased was diabetes, it is wrong to dismiss the organ immediately. Our team has suggested a screening criterion, so that the diabetes is safe for using the diabetic donor or not. Evaluate the position of the resipient separately and then decide. “

Impact of diabetes and high BP

Uncontrolled diabetes damages the kidney blood vessels over time, which can reduce the ability to filter the kidney. Dr. Shiv Sarin, director of the Institute of Liver and Beller Sciences, also told Times of India, “Diabetes, high blood pressure or even the organs of the deceased donors who have history of cancer can also be used for transplant, but every case is necessary.
