The source said, “Mohammad Rizwan had told the Pakistan Cricket Board that he would not promote these betting companies, which was the main reason for his removal from the captaincy. However, when PCB announced the selection of Shaheen Shah Afridi as the captain before the ODI series against South Africa, they did not give the reason for the removal of Rizwan, even his name was not mentioned.

“At a meeting of the selection committee, which also included Pakistan’s limited overs head coach Mike Hesson, it was decided to appoint Shaheen as the captain of Pakistan’s ODI team against South Africa,” the PCB said in its statement.
