There is good news for the students of Delhi, youth preparing for competitive exams and those who are fond of reading books. In fact, in Delhi, NDMC has started the state-of-the-art Jaiprakash Narayan Public Library on Udyan Marg, which was inaugurated by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.

What will you find in the library?

This library is built in about 2265 square meters and about 200 people can sit here and study together. More than 35 thousand books, research magazines and reference books are available here. Apart from this, the facility to read more than 1 crore e-books through e-library will also be available in this library.

The library has facilities like modern reading area, research centre, separate kids zone, multipurpose auditorium, free Wi-Fi and RFID based book management system. It will also be linked to the National Digital Library of India.

Home Minister said this

Amit Shah said that the future of a country is not decided by agriculture, market or industry, but by the youth who come to study in its libraries. He said that reading books increases the ability to think and understand, hence every youth should definitely join some library.

Referring to his childhood, he said that the library of his city had a deep impact on his life. While reading story books in his childhood, his interest reached Vedas and Upanishads. He said that one should think before speaking and read before thinking, because correct thinking comes only from books.

He appealed to the Delhi government to connect all the public libraries of the capital and also connect them to schools. He asked the staff of Jaiprakash Narayan Library to motivate the students of nearby schools to come to the library, so that the habit of reading increases among the youth.

Great facility for students

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that this library is a big gift for the youth and students of Delhi. Especially students preparing for UPSC and other competitive examinations will get better environment and modern facilities here. He expressed hope that this library will help the youth to fulfill their dreams.

NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra said that this library has been built in the memory of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan. Meanwhile, NDMC Vice President Kuljeet Singh Chahal said that this library will become a big center of studies, research and new thinking for the youth in the coming times.

There has been administrative change in Delhi. 1994 batch IAS officer Sanjay Khirwar has been appointed as the new Municipal Commissioner of Delhi. He is returning to the capital after more than three years. Khirwar can take charge of his new post from Thursday. Sanjay Khirwar was removed from Delhi in 2022 when a controversy arose over walking a dog in Thyagaraj Stadium. At that time he was the Principal Secretary of the Revenue Department of Delhi.

According to reports, Khirwar and his wife Rinku Duga, herself a 1994 batch IAS officer, had reached the stadium to walk their dog by 7 pm. Due to this, players and coaches alleged that they had to end their training early. He usually practiced till 8:30, but that day he had to stop at 7.

However, the then Thyagaraja administrative officer Ajit Chaudhary had rejected these allegations. He had said that the official training time for the players is only till 7 pm and Khirwar also termed these allegations as completely wrong. Despite this, the controversy escalated and he was later transferred to Ladakh.

Work on important post in Ladakh

In Ladakh, Khirwar took charge of important departments like health and medical education. There he supervised many big projects along with administrative work. Considering his efficiency and experience, he was again posted in Delhi this month. This happened after the Home Ministry announced a large-scale reshuffle of IAS and IPS officers of AGMUT cadre.

New responsibility in Delhi

Sanjay Khirwar will now take charge as Delhi Municipal Commissioner. He will replace Ashwani Kumar, a 1992 batch IAS officer of AGMUT cadre, who was sent to Jammu and Kashmir this month. In this post, the main work of Khirwar will be to run the departments related to the municipality of the city. This includes responsibilities related to cleanliness, water supply, sewer system, town planning and local administration.

How much salary?

If seen according to seniority, Sanjeev will be working at Khirwar Pay Level 15. According to reports, his basic salary is around Rs 1,82,200 per month. Apart from this, other allowances and facilities are also included.
