While sharing a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), he said that Iran’s first priority is to maintain the security of the country and the peace of the people. President Massoud Pezeshkian said Iran is fully committed to defending its national rights and will not retreat in the face of any threat or pressure. He said that the country stands firmly on issues related to its security and sovereignty.

Masoud Pezeshkian also said in the message that both diplomacy and defense are important parts of the strength of any country. Iran has neither abandoned its defense front nor closed the path of dialogue. He said that the country gives importance to both security and dialogue together.

The priority is the security and peace of the people. We will defend the rights of the nation with authority and will not back down from any threat. Diplomacy and defense are the power of the nation; I have left neither the field nor the table of talks. With the hope of God, with unity and intelligence, Iran will also pass this test with flying colors.

Iranian President’s appeal to the people

The Iranian President appealed to the people to remain united and said that on the strength of unity, understanding and patience, Iran will successfully come out of this difficult period. Amidst the ongoing tension with America and ongoing talks regarding ceasefire, shocking news came out in which it was claimed that Iran’s President Masoud Pejeshkian resigned from his post. The reason behind leaving the post was said to be the arbitrariness and interference of IRGC. IRGC-related Tasnim news agency has given clarification on the claims of Pejshkian’s resignation, quoting a government source.

News agency Iran International, quoting a source, had claimed that Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian submitted his resignation on Sunday (May 31), citing the ‘occupation’ of the IRGC’s administration. The report also states that the resignation was sent for the approval of Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. The agency has made these claims quoting an unknown source.

The report claimed that President Masoud Pezeshkian said regarding his resignation, ‘The President and the government have been effectively isolated from the country’s major and important decision-making processes and have enabled radical factions within the IRGC to take control of power, in such a situation, they are finding themselves unable to fulfill their responsibilities.’
