The police once again did not allow the sisters of former Wazir-e-Azam (Prime Minister) and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan, lodged in Adiala jail of Pakistan, to meet them. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi was also with him. This information was given by the local media on Wednesday (May 13, 2026).

According to Pakistani daily The Express Tribune, while speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Imran Khan’s sister Alima Khan said that refusing to meet Imran Khan is contempt of court. Quoting the rules, he said that the Islamabad High Court has given clear orders for family meetings every Tuesday and Thursday; Despite this, he was not allowed to meet brother Imran.

Alima Khan said, ‘Imran Khan is not only our brother but also a PTI leader, that is why we said that we need all of you (press). Come here and create pressure so that Imran Khan can get proper treatment in the hospital… Imran Khan had staged a strike for 128 days. He spent day and night on the streets. Everyone will have to show some courage. These are difficult times and we are doing whatever we can.

PTI has been continuously accusing Imran Khan of not getting proper medical care during his police custody. Recently, despite completing 1,000 days, he had described his detention as an act of political persecution. According to the party, the constitutional and judicial rights of the former PM are clearly being flouted.

UAE’s Gulf Today quoted PTI’s Central Information Secretary Waqas Akram as saying that PTI founder Imran Khan is facing political harassment because the current government is afraid of his popularity and independent views. This is the reason why efforts are being made to sideline him.

Also read:- Asim Munir started reciting verses in Operation Sindoor, entire PAK was in panic, top Lashkar commander revealed

Akram said that Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi are being treated badly. The PTI founder is being kept in solitary confinement, while his family, lawyers and party leadership are not being allowed to meet him, which is a clear violation of basic human and legal rights.

73-year-old Imran Khan has been in jail since August 2023, which PTI is calling a politically motivated move. Many cases are going on against Imran Khan after he was removed from office through no-confidence vote in 2022. These also include allegations of receiving government gifts and illegal marriage.

In a significant development in the alleged £190 million corruption case in Pakistan, the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued directions to the concerned authorities to allow Imran Khan to meet his lawyer.

The instructions were issued during the hearing on the application of Imran and his wife Bushra Bibi. In this case, a demand was made to suspend the sentence of both. The bench also indicated to dispose of their main appeals soon.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) special prosecutor Javed Ashraf and senior prosecutor Rafay Maqsood appeared in the court, while barrister Salman Safdar appeared on behalf of the PTI founder. During the proceedings, the Chief Justice asked about hearing the main appeals as separate petitions seeking suspension of the sentence were also pending.

According to a report in leading daily Dawn, the court made it clear that the accused has the right to meet his legal representative and this should not be hindered in any way. The Chief Justice asked the officials to take necessary steps to facilitate Imran Khan’s meeting with his lawyer.

The days of Tuesday and Thursday were decided by the court. On this day, Imran’s family members, lawyers and party leaders can meet him. The former Prime Minister is lodged in Adiala Jail of Rawalpindi. The IHC bench also pointed towards a streamlined approach for speedy action. Regarding which the Chief Justice said that if the debate on the appeal starts, then the court can decide the case within seven days.

Meanwhile, the concerned officials have been asked to immediately comply with the court order. The next hearing of the case has been fixed for April 9. This case relates to alleged embezzlement and financial irregularities of 190 million pounds, in which serious allegations have been made against Imran Khan and his associates. During the hearing of this case, the defense had requested the court to allow Imran to consult his lawyer, so that he could prepare his defense effectively.

Qasim Khan, son of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is lodged in Pakistan’s Adiala jail, has created a stir in the country with his speech given at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva. Pakistan’s Shahbaz Sharif government has become so enraged by Qasim Khan’s speech that it has termed this speech as a conspiracy to harm the country. The Pakistan government said that Qasim Khan has tried to weaken the country’s Generalized Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP Plus) status through his speech.

Pakistan’s Union Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Punjab Province Information Minister Azma Bukhari and Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon have criticized Imran Khan’s son Qasim Khan and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zulfi Bukhari. He said that this is a completely well-planned conspiracy, the aim of which is to snatch away the GSP Plus status of Pakistan.

Qasim Khan UNHRC What was said in the address given in?

Qasim Khan, son of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, during his address to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) on Wednesday (March 25, 2026) appealed that the UN should put pressure on the Shehbaz Sharif government of Pakistan to immediately release his father Imran Khan from jail. He said, ‘We request the UNHRC to press Pakistan to end the harassment against PTI Chief Imran Khan and immediately release him from jail and the Government of Pakistan should follow the opinion of the UN Working-Group and release him (Imran Khan).

Pakistan ministers accused Qasim

Accusing Qasim Khan, Pakistan’s ministers said that the aim of Qasim and his associates is to end Pakistan’s GSP Plus status. This anti-Pakistan group is working closely with the Israeli lobby in the European Union and people associated with the banned Baluchistan Liberation Army (BLA).

What is Pakistan’s GSP Plus status?

Generalized Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP Plus) is a special incentive scheme that provides exemption from import tariffs on two-thirds of the country’s export products to developing countries in exchange for promoting sustainable development and governance. This status is considered very important for Pakistan’s exports and employment. Pakistan’s ministers say that after getting GSP status, the country’s exports have increased by 40 percent.

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan was taken from Adiala Jail to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) at 12.30 midnight today. Imran Khan, who was suffering from Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO) disease in his right eye, was given the second dose of anti-VEGF injection.

This dose of injection in Imran Khan’s right eye was administered by Dr. Nadeem Qureshi, retina specialist of Al Shifa Eye Hospital, Rawalpindi, and Dr. Muhammad Arif Khan, head of the ophthalmology department of PIMS, in the operation theater of PIMS.

Khan is suffering from high blood pressure
According to the information, Imran Khan has been suffering from high blood pressure since July last year and Pakistan Government PIMS informed that ECG and ECO test was also done before the injection in Imran Khan’s eye, which according to PIMS was found to be normal. However, PIMS did not provide information as to why ECG and ECO test was done to check the heart of Imran Khan when he was to get an injection in his eye today.

Apart from this, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences also informed that after the injection in Imran Khan’s eye, he was sent back after giving necessary suggestions. In the same month, when Barrister Salman Safdar was appointed amicus curiae by the Pakistani Supreme Court to provide information about the condition of Imran Khan, Salman Safdar informed the court that Imran Khan could see only 15 percent in his right eye.

PTI had demonstrated all over Pakistan
Imran Khan’s party PTI had protested to get him admitted to the hospital from jail, but still the Pakistani government did not get Imran Khan admitted to the hospital and placed before the court on 16 February a new investigation report of PIMS and Al Shifa Eye Hospital, which claimed that Imran Khan’s right eye is improving after the first dose of anti-VEGF injection on 24 January.

Political tension has once again increased due to the news of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s health deteriorating in jail. His two sons, Suleman Khan and Qasim Khan, living in London, have expressed serious concern that the vision in their father’s right eye has reduced considerably and the jail administration is not giving him better treatment. They fear that the condition may worsen and the father ‘may even be killed.’

Entry ban of Imran’s sons in Pakistan

Imran Khan’s sons told Reuters in an interview that they had applied for a visa last month, but have not received any response yet. He believes that the Pakistani ‘Establishment’ fears that if he goes to Pakistan, the world’s attention will be more on the situation of Imran Khan.

Suleman and Qasim said, ‘Our father’s health is deteriorating day by day. We fear that he is not getting proper treatment. Qasim said emotionally, ‘It is very difficult to stay away from him for so long. Our biggest concern is his health, but his freedom, human rights and fair trial are also big issues.

Controversy over health condition and treatment

Imran Khan’s lawyer told the Pakistan Supreme Court last week that his eyesight has reduced significantly due to the formation of a blood clot in his right eye in jail. The report said that now only 15% light is left, while 85% has been damaged. His eyes were normal (6/6 vision) till October 2025, but after that blurriness, watering and discomfort started. Despite treatment, improvement is limited.

The Supreme Court had ordered an expert investigation on 12 February. On Monday (16 February 2026), the medical board reported that after treatment (including injections), the swelling had reduced and vision had improved. But the son doubts this report. He said that Imran Khan spoke on phone on Thursday (for the first time since September), in which he was frustrated and told that eye treatment was being refused for many months.

Imran’s sons have demanded that their father be given better medical facilities and he should be shifted to the hospital soon. They should be allowed to meet private doctors and both the sons should get visas for Pakistan immediately.

It will be almost 4 years since Imran went to jail

Imran Khan is lodged in Adiala jail since August 2023. After being removed from power through a no-confidence motion in April 2022, several cases are registered against him, which PTI calls a political conspiracy. There was a fatal attack on him in November 2022, after which his sons did not see him. He has been in solitary confinement in jail for a long time. Showing the name or picture of Imran Khan is prohibited in Pakistan and only one public photo has surfaced after he was jailed.

Now questions are being raised again regarding the health and treatment of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has been imprisoned since August 5, 2023. Imran Khan’s son Qasim Khan informed on social media platform

After the information given by Imran Khan’s son, Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail has again become a battlefield, where thousands of workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, including Imran Khan’s personal doctor, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, gathered outside Adiala Jail from 7 pm to 3 am and started demanding to allow Imran Khan’s doctors to meet him.

When the Adiala jail administration did not allow Imran Khan’s doctors to go inside the jail and meet him, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi sat on a strike along with the doctors. Dr. Mohammad Asim Yusuf, who was Imran Khan’s personal doctor for many years, informed that he has not been allowed to meet Imran Khan since November 2024 and the last time he met Imran Khan, he did not have any problem.

What did Imran Khan’s doctor tell?
Pakistan’s well-known Eye Specialist and Imran Khan’s doctor Khurram Azam Mirza informed outside Adiala Jail that earlier operation had to be done for CRV (Central Retinal Vein Occlusion) but now injections have come but the problem is that if there is a delay in the correct treatment or the treatment is incomplete then serious problems arise, due to which after the pressure builds up, first bleeding occurs and then there is a risk of glaucoma and black cataract. According to Dr. Khurram Azam Mirza, this disease can be caused due to high blood pressure or stress, but till date the information about Imran Khan’s tests has not been shared, so nothing can be said and if possible, the treatment and tests should be done in the hospital only because that facility is not available in the jail.

Was taken secretly to hospital
On the night of January 24, Imran Khan was secretly taken from Adiala jail to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad for eye treatment for 20 minutes. According to Pakistan’s Information and Broadcasting Minister Ataullah Tarar, after examination, eye specialist doctors in Adiala Jail had advised that Imran Khan should be taken to PIMS for a small procedure, following which written consent was first taken from Imran Khan and then a small 20-minute procedure was done on him in PIMS and Imran Khan is fine now.

Khan has been in jail for 909 days
Imran Khan, who has been in jail in Pakistan for 909 days, is not being allowed to meet Imran Khan since December 4 because in the meeting on December 4, Imran Khan had sent a message to the country through his sister Uzma Khanum, targeting Pakistan’s Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Asim Munir and held him responsible for terrorism within Pakistan, after which the Government of Pakistan has arrested Imran Khan. Khan’s sisters were banned from meeting Imran Khan.

After keeping Imran Khan in jail for 909 days and not allowing him to meet his family and doctors, Imran Khan’s sister Aalima Khanum on February 8 appealed to people to stay at home and close shops and businesses. It has also been said that pressure will have to be exerted until justice is provided and no one can arrest anyone while staying at home.

A big revelation has come to light regarding former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is jailed in Pakistan. According to Pakistani media reports, Imran Khan was secretly brought from jail to the hospital, where he was medically examined. Pakistani journalist Zahid Gishkori told that Imran Khan was shifted from Adiala jail to Islamabad hospital on the night of 24-25 January.

what happened to imran khan
According to Pakistani journalist, Imran Khan has been kept in the eye department. After this matter came to light, leaders of Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have expressed concerns. Zahid Gishkori told that when Imran Khan was brought out of jail, the lights of his cell and the route through which he was brought out were switched off.

Zahid Gishkori told that even in the hospital, Imran Khan’s presence was kept completely confidential and all the lights remained switched off. After reaching the hospital, his eyes were examined. Khan was sent back to Adiala jail after being kept in the hospital for about 2.25 hours.

PTI leaders expressed concern
Regarding this matter, on Wednesday (January 28), senior PTI leaders held a press conference and accused the government that Imran Khan was taken to the hospital for treatment without informing the family or the party leadership. PTI Chairman Gauhar Ali Khan said that his last meeting with Imran Khan was on December 20. Since then, party officials and family members have not been allowed to meet him.

Gauhar Khan said that her family should have been taken into confidence before being taken for medical treatment. He further said, ‘Till date we have not been told about the illness for which he was taken to the hospital. Which doctor examined him or why was he brought back to jail.

Board of Peace: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed the charter of US President Donald Trump’s initiative ‘Board of Peace’ during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Shahbaz Sharif called it an important diplomatic step, but as soon as he returned to Pakistan, this decision got embroiled in a huge political controversy. Opposition parties have termed this move as non-transparent and morally unacceptable.

Trump’s new initiative for Gaza conflict

The ‘Board of Peace’ has been formally introduced by US President Donald Trump as part of the second phase of his 20-point peace proposal to end the Gaza conflict. According to reports, this board will not be limited to Gaza only, but will work as a new international mechanism to resolve global conflicts in the future.
Its scope extends to governance capacity building, reconstruction, attracting investment and raising funds on a large scale. In many countries, it is being seen as an emerging system as an alternative to the United Nations.

Strong opposition from the opposition in Pakistan

After this signing in Davos, political turmoil intensified in Islamabad. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) opened a front against the government’s decision. The party said in a strong statement that it does not accept the government’s decision to join the ‘Board of Peace’.

PTI says that decisions of such huge international importance require “full transparency and wide consultation with all key political stakeholders”. Party leaders stressed that any international peace initiative should strengthen the UN multilateral system, rather than creating “parallel structures” that would further complicate global governance.

This demand was raised

PTI has demanded the government to withdraw from formal participation in the ‘Board of Peace’ until a comprehensive consultation process is completed under the supervision of the Parliament of Pakistan and Imran Khan is also included in it. The party has also demanded a national referendum on this decision. Also, PTI clarified that it is in support of the Palestinian people, but will not accept any plan against the will of the people of Gaza or the entire Palestine.

The leader of the opposition in the Senate also expressed his opposition.

The pressure on Shehbaz Sharif increased further when Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) chief and leader of opposition in the Senate Allama Raja Nasir Abbas also criticized the move. He called it morally wrong and unacceptable. From the same platform, US President Donald Trump gave a strong statement saying that the Palestinian armed organization Hamas will have to lay down its arms, otherwise it will be “eliminated”. This statement of Trump has also given further fuel to the controversy.

Questions arising on ‘Board of Peace’

The initiative of ‘Board of Peace’ itself is also under question. The Trump administration had invited about 60 countries, including India and China, but less than 20 countries participated during the Davos launch. It is being told that a fee of one billion dollars has been fixed for the permanent membership of this board.

Which countries participated?

Washington is presenting this board as a new international body to bring peace and stability to Gaza and beyond. This has also intensified speculation that it may intervene in other global conflicts as well. The countries that accepted Trump’s invitation include Argentina, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Bulgaria, Egypt, Hungary, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Morocco, Mongolia, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

Pakistan court has extended the interim bail of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. The court has extended the interim bail till January 27. The court on Tuesday heard the May 9 violence case of PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi. During this, orders were given to increase the interim bail in other cases including violence. Also, Imran has been instructed to participate in the next hearing personally through visual hearing.

Instructions to Imran to appear in the hearing on January 27

According to Pakistani newspaper Dawn, this order has been given by the bench of Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka. He heard the bail petitions before the arrest. Advocate Shamsa Kayani appeared on behalf of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. Due to the absence of the former Prime Minister, the debate on the petitions was not taken forward. The court has extended the interim bail and fixed the hearing date as January 27. Besides, the court has also ordered to ensure the presence of Imran Khan in the next hearing.

Apart from cases related to the violence on May 9, several other cases including attempt to murder, alleged submission of fake receipts have been registered against Imran Khan. Apart from this, a separate case has been registered against Bushra Bibi for submitting fake receipts related to Toshakhana gifts. In a related development, the next hearing in the case of the already filed arrest petition has been fixed for January 27.

Lawyer not given permission to meet Imran

PTI lawyer Khalid Yousuf Chaudhary has not been allowed to meet Imran Khan. The lawyer in the court had said that he could get her signature on the power of attorney documents required to file an appeal against the recent conviction in the Toshakhana case.

Here, citing rights, the party alleged that jail officials are preventing Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi from meeting their lawyer in Adiala jail to sign the power of attorney. The party has said that making the PTI founder’s lawyer wait for hours, closing the legal desk and not providing the facility to execute the power of attorney was a deliberate attempt to prevent access to justice.

The party said- signing and filing appeal is a legal right

PTI said that under Punjab Prison Rules 1978, 178 and 179, every prisoner has the legal right to meet his lawyer, sign legal documents and file appeals. Jail authorities have no right to obstruct this process. The party further alleged that denial of the right of appeal is a violation of Articles 10-A, 4, 9 and 25 of the Constitution.

There is resentment among the people against the Pakistani rulers. Everyday blasts and political turmoil along with worsening economic situation are having a negative impact on the country. This is the reason why the opposition camp seems to be mobilizing and eager to challenge the government and its heat is beginning to be felt. Tehreek Tahafuz Ain-e-Pakistan (TTAP), a coalition of opposition parties, has listed the failures of the current government and announced that they will jointly respond to this arbitrariness.

In the manifesto issued after the two-day National Consultative Conference, the opposition has decided to observe ‘Black Day’ (Yaum-e-Siyah) on February 8, 2026, which will be the second anniversary of alleged rigging in the 2024 general elections. Local media has reported this. According to Pakistani newspaper Dawn, on this day chakka jam and shutter down strike was announced across the country, along with an appeal was made to protest at the international level and celebrate Black Day.

TTAP, which includes Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) and other opposition parties, demanded at the conference that fair elections be held, independent appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), and smooth transfer of power be ensured. It calls for an independent investigation, calling the February 8, 2024 elections rigged, and demanding that those responsible be identified and punished.

According to Geo media outlet, the coalition said that political instability has deepened the economic crisis, and immediate steps should be taken to protect civil rights and vital institutions. The opposition has described the 2024 elections as ‘fraudulent’ and the current government as ‘illegitimate’.

Condemned the sentence awarded to PTI chief Imran Khan and his wife. Along with this, he was also surprised at the misbehavior of Imran Khan’s sisters, which included incidents of pulling their hair and allegedly using chemical water cannons.

The alliance demanded the release of all political prisoners, including Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Ajaz Chaudhary, Yasmin Rashid, Sarfaraz Cheema, Mian Mahmoodur Rashid, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Ali Wazir, Haji Abdul Samad and Wali Mohammed.

Meanwhile, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said that economic decline, inflation and unemployment have increased, while despair among the people has increased. He said the crisis could have been mitigated through collective dialogue with stakeholders, but mismanagement has made the situation worse.

Former PTI leader Imran Khan, who is in jail, had earlier also announced observing Black Day on the first anniversary of the 2024 elections (February 8, 2025), which was sparked by nationwide protests. This time TTAP plans to make it more widespread, including protests in international cities like London. The march from Parliament House to the Supreme Court in November 2025 was also a part of this blockade.

The opposition alleges that the government does not want talks and is trying to suppress the protests. In recent posts, activists have called for nationwide protests and sit-ins. The development reflects rising political tensions in Pakistan, where the opposition has been accusing the government of military interference and election rigging.
