Nearly 50 people were killed in a series of attacks in Balochistan, after which Pakistani security forces killed 145 Baloch fighters in a 40-hour long operation. The Chief Minister of Balochistan gave this information on Sunday (February 1). Authorities in the southwestern province are grappling with the deadliest attacks in years as Baluch fighters step up attacks on security forces and infrastructure in resource-rich Balochistan, which borders Iran and Afghanistan.

According to the report of news agency Reuters, Pakistan’s Minister of State for Home Talal Chaudhary said that on Saturday, attackers disguised as civilians entered hospitals, schools, banks and markets and then started firing. He said that the attackers, disguised as civilians, indiscriminately targeted the common people working in shops. He further said that the terrorists used civilians as human shields.

Bad condition in capital Quetta
The separatist group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attacks, saying it had launched an operation called ‘Herof’ or “Black Storm”, targeting security forces across the province. The marks of the attack are clearly visible in the capital Quetta. Burnt vehicles at a police station, bullet-riddled doors, roads sealed with yellow tape and patrolling by security forces are enough to indicate that a large-scale attack took place here.

What did Balochistan CM say?
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said that 17 policemen and 31 civilians were killed in the attacks. Pakistan Army said that 92 terrorists (Baloch fighters) were killed on Saturday, while 41 (Baloch fighters) were killed on Friday. “We had received intelligence that such an operation was being planned, and because of that we had started pre-operations a day in advance,” Bugti said. Bugti said that this is the highest number of terrorists killed in such a short period since the insurgency intensified.

Officials said the attacks took place almost simultaneously in Quetta, Gwadar, Mustang and Noshki districts. The attackers also fired on security establishments, including the headquarters of the Frontier Corps. Attempts were made to commit suicide bombings. After this, the army, police and anti-terrorism units retaliated on a large scale.

Decades of insurgency in Balochistan
Let us tell you that Balochistan is the largest and poorest province of Pakistan, where the insurgency of ethnic Baloch separatists has been going on for decades. These separatists are demanding their independence and share in natural resources from the Pakistani government. BLA has claimed that they have killed 84 soldiers of Pakistan security forces and captured 18 others.

Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has been continuously carrying out massive attacks in different areas of Balochistan for the last 17 hours, where from 6 am to 4 pm, BLA attacked Pakistani Army, ISI, police and government positions in 11 cities of Balochistan province, the capital Quetta, Mashtung, Kalat, Gwadar, Nushki, Dalbadin, Kharan, Ornach, Panjgur, Tump and Pashani. So at night Gwadar Port was also attacked by Baloch fighters.

According to the information received so far, 27 security forces have been killed in the attacks of Baloch Liberation Army, including 12 soldiers and 15 police personnel. However, BLA has claimed that 84 Pakistani security personnel have been killed in its attack. The capital Quetta was the most affected by the attacks by Baloch Liberation Army from 6 am. Baloch fighters entered the army building and attacked.

Police station burnt in capital Quetta
The police station located in Quetta was also burnt by Baloch fighters after killing the policemen. Similarly, in Quetta itself, a police van was also targeted by Baloch fighters with a rocket launcher, in which two policemen died on the spot. Similarly, Baloch fighters attacked the army security personnel deployed outside Balochistan University and Medical College in Quetta with rocket launchers.

suicide attack near secretariat
ABP News has obtained CCTV footage of the BLA suicide attack near the Quetta Secretariat, in which a Baloch fighter blew himself up near the Secretariat in the Red Zone of Quetta at 9.24 am on Saturday (January 31). Similarly, Baloch fighters also carried out a fierce attack on an army base in Gwadar, in which 3 soldiers and 5 Baloch fighters were killed. According to the information, a total of 9 blasts took place in Quetta till 4 pm and news of the death of 7 policemen is coming out in Quetta alone. Also, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti also visited the incident site amid heavy security in Quetta where BLA had first attacked.

28 policemen injured
28 policemen are seriously injured in the BLA attack, who are undergoing treatment in the government hospital in Quetta. Also, the government of Pakistan has updated the number of Baloch fighters killed in the encounter to 37. Some videos have also been released by the Pakistani Army, in which it can be seen that to overcome the BLA fighters, the Army conducted a drone strike in Gwadar and killed BLA fighters in an encounter in Pashani.

Encounter between Pakistani Army and BLA is still going on in 12 cities. Apart from the attack, BLA has captured Nokushi city’s Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Hussain and 8 CTD officers and also captured the CTD headquarters in Nokushi.

Foreign investment in danger
In such a situation, Pakistan’s dream of foreign investment in the mines of Balochistan may be in trouble, because all western countries including America invest only considering the security system. After Asim Munir’s invitation to US President Donald Trump to invest in Ricoh Dick Khan of Balochistan last year, the US government was currently assessing the security aspects before investing, in such a situation the BLA attack in Balochistan is enough to close or postpone the routes of foreign investments.

Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which is fighting the armed conflict in Balochistan, has been carrying out massive attacks on Pakistani Army, ISI, Police and government targets for the last 10 hours. These attacks are being carried out in 11 cities of Pakistan’s Balochistan province, which include the capital Quetta, Mashtung, Kalat, Gwadar, Nushki, Dalbadin, Kharan, Ornach, Panjgur, Tump and Pashani. In these 11 cities, Baloch fighters have targeted army offices, police stations, banks, government administrative offices and ISI offices.

The worst situation is in the outskirts of the capital Quetta, where some time ago, Baloch fighters first looted Awam Bank worth Rs 38 lakh and then set it on fire. Similarly, the police station located in Quetta was also burnt by Baloch fighters after killing the policemen. In Quetta itself, a police van was also targeted by Baloch fighters with a rocket launcher, in which two policemen traveling in the vehicle died on the spot. Apart from this, Baloch fighters attacked with rocket launchers to target the army security personnel deployed outside Balochistan University and Medical College.

Baloch fighters also launched a fierce attack on a Pakistani Army base in Gwadar. Three soldiers and 5 Baloch boys died in this. Not only this, Baloch fighters are still deployed on the highway connecting the capital Quetta with other parts of the country. According to the information, a total of 9 blasts took place in Balochistan’s capital Quetta till 4 pm and news of the death of 7 policemen is coming in Quetta alone. Also, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti also visited the incident site amid heavy security in Quetta, where BLA had first attacked.

PAK claims- 57 BLA fighters killed

According to the information, more than 12 soldiers of Pakistani Army have been killed in BLA attacks. At the same time, 13 police personnel have also died. Also 28 policemen are seriously injured. Whereas according to the Government of Pakistan, till 4 pm, its security agencies have killed 57 BLA fighters. Some pictures of which were also released by the Pakistani Army.

Encounter continues between PAK Army and BLA in 11 cities

It can be seen in the pictures that to overcome the BLA fighters, the army carried out a drone strike in Gwadar and killed BLA fighters in an encounter in Pashani. However, the encounter is still going on between the Army and BLA in 11 cities and at present all the trains coming and going towards Quetta have been cancelled.

Apart from the attack, the BLA has also taken hostage Mohammad Hussain, the deputy commissioner of Nokushi city, and several other government officials. Also, BLA has termed this entire attack as Operation Hereof 2.0. Baloch Liberation Army commander Bashir Zaib Baloch himself is commanding this entire operation.

Army continues to control BLA even after 10 hours

The way BLA has attacked 11 cities simultaneously today, Baloch fighters are still attacking in other areas of Balochistan including the capital Quetta. Pakistan’s security forces are struggling to overcome them even after 10 hours. Sounds of firing were heard around people’s houses in Kharan and Gwadar and an attack drone of Pakistani Army was also seen flying in Noshki. Also, Baloch boys have captured the headquarters of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) located in Noshki and captured 8 CTD officers.

Shahbaz Sharif’s dream of foreign investment in crisis

In such a situation, Pakistan’s dream of foreign investment from other countries including America in the mines of Balochistan may be in trouble, because all the western countries including America invest only considering the security system. After Pakistan’s Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) General Asim Munir’s invitation to US President Donald Trump last year to invest in Balochistan’s Rico Dick Mine, the US government was currently assessing the security aspects before making the investment. In such a situation, the BLA attack in Balochistan today is enough to close or postpone the path of foreign investments in the mines of Balochistan.

Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has termed this attack as the second phase of Operation Herof.

BLA’s statement said that its fighters have simultaneously attacked Pakistani Army and ISI bases located in the cities of Quetta, Noshki, Mashtung, Dalbadin, Kalat, Kharan, Gwadar, Pasni, Tump and Buleda, the capital of Balochistan province. The attacks on Quetta, Pasni, Gwadar, Noshki and Dalbadin were suicide attacks, which were carried out by the Majeed Brigade of BLA. During the attack, Baloch fighters also entered the army camp located here.

BLA claims- More than 12 PAK soldiers died

According to Baloch Liberation Army, more than 12 Pakistani soldiers have died so far in its attack. According to the BLA, the attacks under Operation Herof 2.0 were carried out by its Fatah Squad, Majeed Brigade, ZIRAB and STOS.

PAK Army has not given any statement yet

Till now, Pakistani Army has not issued any statement on this entire matter, but according to the information, firing is going on between Pakistani Army and BLA fighters and around 12 Pakistani Army soldiers have been killed and 3 BLA fighters have also died. In Quetta alone, 7 policemen have died in an attack by Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).

‘Attacks in 10 cities of Balochistan’

Internet service has been stopped in Quetta, Balochistan and blackout has been ordered for 24 hours. Balochistan government has suspended internet services for 24 hours on Friday (October 31, 2025) due to unusual and serious law and order situation

According to the report of Pakistani newspaper ‘Dawn’, in a letter sent on Thursday, the Balochistan government ordered Pakistan’s Home Ministry to suspend mobile data service. The Government of Balochistan requested that the concerned authorities be directed to suspend 3G/4G internet services in Quetta for 24 hours on 31 October.

It was said in the letter that in order to ensure law and order is not disturbed and in view of the apprehensions of danger, it is necessary to shut down 3G and 4G services in Quetta district. Earlier in August, mobile data services were suspended citing security reasons. However, mobile internet services were immediately restored on the orders of Balochistan High Court. Now exactly two months later, the service has been suspended again for 24 hours in Balochistan.

When internet service was stopped in August, Balochistan faced a lot of problems in education, online business and media reporting. Officials had said that the decision was taken on the recommendations of security agencies, especially in view of the increasing tension around National Day celebrations in Pakistan.

According to the report of The Balochistan Post, students, businessmen, journalists and human rights organizations had criticized this decision of the government. Students attending online classes had said that they were not able to participate in discussions nor submit assignments. The situation was more serious in rural areas, where students already have limited educational resources.

Freelancers and businessmen from Quetta, Turbat, Khuzdar and Panjgur had said that their livelihood had come to a standstill due to the suspension of internet services.

In Balochistan, the government has increased Section-144 for 15 days in the entire state citing the current law and order situation. According to the notification issued by the Home Department, there will be a ban on display and use of weapons during this period, motorcycle double ride, black glass vehicles, non -registration motorcycles, gathering of more than 5 people, procession and rally.
Shahjeb said that the government should make arrangements to bring back all the missing Baloch and other victims. He said that if any political activist is accused, then he should be produced in the court, but mass punishment to the entire community is like ethnic and national purification and reflects colonial mentality.

Protesters jammed Quetta-Karachi highway

This protest started when the passengers were abducted from a van going to itching from the hub post. Local leaders allege that recently Pakistani security forces stopped a van, out of which women and children were taken to an unknown place after landing women and children.

Local leader Baba Fateh poisoned told reporters over the phone that the Khujdar administration used force to end peaceful demonstrations. He also alleged that the security forces abused women and beat the youth. Fateh appealed to the people of poisonous region to participate in a large number of dharna so that the excesses of the itching administration could be stopped.

Baloch Liberation Army: There was a conflict between the Government of Pakistan and the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) over the alleged victory day celebrations in Quetta. The ceremony organized under the patronage of the Pakistani Army was being led by the so -called MPA Ali help Jattak. Even before the ceremony started, there was a grenade attack on Munir Mangal Road, in which one agent was killed and 12 others were injured.

The attack was not just a security lapse, but a symbolic performance of the Baloch movement. BLA has made it clear that as long as the alleged occupation of Balochistan will continue, such ceremonies will be derogatory and unacceptable for him. Apart from this, a Pakistani army outpost located on MCC cross of Mastung was also grenked by the Baloch Liberation Army fighters. 4 Pakistani soldiers were injured in this attack. This outpost had become a habitat for Baloch citizens, where women and the elderly were not being spared.

Baloch Liberation Army spokesman Jiyand Baloch

BLA, calling this attack a retaliation, has clarified that playing with the identity and security of the Baloch people will no longer be tolerated. Baloch Liberation Army spokesman Jiyand Baloch said in a statement that the world is now seeing that no place in Balochistan is safe for the Pakistani army. The support of Baloch public is constantly making us strong. This statement is a big indication for the Government of Pakistan and the global community that the Baloch movement is no longer the name of a separatist organization, but it has become a public support movement.

Baloch Liberation Army claims

The Baloch Liberation Army has claimed that they are getting direct support from the public, there is a danger bell for Pakistani rule. It is clear from this that the policy of terror and forced control in Balochistan is no longer working. The Pakistani government has tightened security in the entire quetta, calling the attacks a terrorist incident. Efforts are being made to close the city through containers and blockade, but the local people say that this has made the situation more tense. It is repeatedly said in government statements that the Baloch movement has the support of ‘external powers’, but the ground truth is that the roots of this movement are in local pain and oppression of years.
