A major terrorist attack took place in Quetta, Pakistan on Sunday morning, when a suicide bomber from the Majeed Brigade of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) targeted the Jafar Express train and carried out a massive explosion. The explosion was so severe that one bogie of the train was completely burnt to ashes. So far, at least 26 people have been confirmed dead in this attack, while more than 70 people are said to be seriously injured. Security agencies have called it a planned suicide attack.

According to the information, Jafar Express train was carrying military personnel from Quetta Cantt. Meanwhile, a suicide bomber blew himself up near the railway track near Chaman Gate. Due to the blast, a bogie of the train was completely destroyed and there was chaos in the surrounding area.

Many houses and vehicles also damaged
The explosion was so powerful that many houses and vehicles around the railway track were heavily damaged. According to eyewitnesses, the sound of the explosion was heard far and wide, after which a cloud of smoke spread in the area.
Relief and rescue operations continue
As soon as information about the incident was received, local people, police and rescue teams reached the spot. The injured were immediately admitted to nearby hospitals, where the condition of many remains critical. Security forces have surrounded the entire area and started a search operation. Pakistan’s Railway Minister has strongly condemned the horrific explosion in Quetta, calling it a cowardly terrorist attack. He said that such attacks cannot weaken the country’s morale and national resolve.

BLA took responsibility for the attack
Baloch Liberation Army spokesperson Ziand Baloch has taken responsibility for this suicide attack in a statement issued to the media. Initial investigation has revealed that the attack was planned in advance and the time of passing of the train was deliberately chosen so that maximum damage could be caused.

Police and security agencies are busy gathering clues related to the exact cause of the blast and the identity of the suicide bomber. According to officials, the entire matter is being thoroughly investigated and high alert has been declared in the area.
This train has been hijacked before
This is the same Jafar Express, which was hijacked by Baloch Liberation Army fighters in the Balochistan province of Pakistan in the year 2025. In March 2025, Jafar Express going from Quetta to Peshawar was stopped in the inaccessible hilly area of Bolan district of Balochistan and hijacked. More than 400 passengers aboard the train were taken hostage by Baloch fighters. The Pakistani Army claimed to have rescued the passengers by running ‘Operation Green Bolan’, in which many lives were also lost.
