Rebel TMC MPs To Support NDA: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has suffered a major setback. 20 MPs of the party have written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressing their desire to join the NDA. According to news agency PTI, Kakoli Dastidar said that 20 MPs including him have decided to support the BJP-led NDA.

Big blow to Mamta

Kakoli Dastidar said that he accepts the election results of West Bengal and believes that his political future is more secure with the NDA. Earlier, amid speculations of a split in the party, 16 TMC MPs led by Sukhendu Roy and Kakoli Dastidar had met Suvendu Adhikari.

If there is a split among the rebel MLAs of Trinamool Congress (TMC), then the anti-defection law will not apply to them. According to the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution, at least 19 TMC MPs in the Lok Sabha will have to leave the party, only then this provision will be considered effective.

Earlier, Sukhendu Roy had resigned from the Rajya Sabha membership from Trinamool Congress, alleging that the Mamata Banerjee-led government was indulging in corruption and atrocities against women.

These MPs have also written a letter to the Speaker for the arrangement of separate sitting in the Lok Sabha. The MPs who met Shubhendu Adhikari include Kakoli Dastidar, Partha Bhowmik, Jagdish Basunia, Dev, Shatabdi Roy, Rachna Banerjee, Kalipada Soren, Arup Chakraborty, Asit Mal, Shatrughan Sinha, Prasun Banerjee, Pratima Mondal and Bapa Halidar.

Trinamool Congress president Mamata Banerjee, party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and several senior MPs attended the meeting of leaders of the opposition ‘India’ alliance. The 14 Lok Sabha MPs of TMC who participated in the meeting held with Suvendu Adhikari today at 9, Motilal Nehru Marg, include Kakoli Dastidar, Shatabdi Roy, Bapi Halder, Arup Chakraborty, June Malih, Deepak Adhikari, Kalipada Soren, Jagdeep Basunia, Asit Mal, Abu Taher, Khalilur Rahman, Sharmila Sarkar, Prasun Banerjee and Partho Bhowmik.

TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee, who sat in Kolkata to protest against the attack on party leaders, fiercely targeted BJP. He alleged that BJP rigged the counting of votes on 177 out of 294 seats to win the Bengal Assembly elections. Only six MPs and six MLAs of the party were present with Mamata Banerjee sitting on the dharna. In the recently held elections in the state, 80 MLAs of the party had registered victory, but only 6 MLAs registered their presence at the strike.

Former Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has accused BJP of trying to break Trinamool Congress after looting votes in the elections. Along with Lok Sabha MP Kalyan Banerjee, Rajya Sabha MPs Dola Sen, Derek O’Brien, Mala Roy, Sameerul Islam, Nadimul Haq were present in the protest with Mamata Banerjee. Talking about TMC MLAs, Sovandeb Chatterjee, Ashok Deb, Madan Mitra, Nayana Bandopadhyay, Firhad Hakim and Kunal Ghosh reached the protest.

Those who supported him are meeting with traitors: Mamata

Mamta Banerjee said, ‘Police are threatening TMC workers not to participate in the protests, I will continue the protest. It was not the policy of the TMC government to evict hawkers without rehabilitation, we adopted a humanitarian approach. I will not abandon TMC workers in this difficult time. Pointing towards Subhendu Adhikari, Mamata Banerjee said, ‘I regret that the people whom I supported in my life are now associating with traitors.’

Mamta Banerjee’s statement on fake signature controversy

Former CM Mamata Banerjee said, ‘Modi ji has left Bengal in the hands of anti-social elements and unruly leaders, who are pushing the state into darkness. If other parties are allowed to organize political events at the place where we were not given permission to protest, then TMC will approach the court. On the fake signature controversy, he said, ‘If the Assembly Speaker has doubts about the authenticity of the signatures of TMC MLAs, then their forensic examination should be conducted.’
