LPG Rate Today on July 15: Today, government oil companies (IOCL, BPCL, HPCL) have not made any change in the prices of LPG across the country. Despite the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and rising tensions in West Asia, the prices of commercial and domestic gas cylinders have been kept stable even today. Earlier on July 1, the price of 19 kg commercial cylinder was reduced by Rs 183.50, while the price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG was increased by Rs 29 on June 7. Since then the prices have remained stable.

Tension again between America and Iran

The ceasefire that has been going on for the last three weeks in West Asia has completely broken. On one hand, the US Central Command is targeting the coastal cities, radar systems, missile bases and air defense systems of southern Iran. More than 20 warships and hundreds of fighter planes of the US Army have completely surrounded the sea routes of Iran. Due to this, the movement of ships from Iranian ports has come to a halt.

At the same time, Iran has also retaliated by firing missiles at American military bases in Gulf countries like Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and Oman. This fierce military confrontation has affected crude oil, which is now slowly moving towards its highest level again from its previous low of $ 71 per barrel.

This may impact the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG in India in the future because most of India’s energy shipments go through Hormuz. In such a situation, the pressure of expensive crude is already there, on top of that, if the supply chain from Hormuz is broken, ships and tankers will have to travel a long distance to the Cape of Good Hope, which will take more time, which means the cost of freight will increase, and due to increase in marine insurance premium, fuel prices in the country will also increase.

LPG Cylinder Rate Today on May 11: Even today, government petroleum companies like IOC, HPCL and BPCL have kept the prices of gas cylinders stable across the country.

On the first of May, while on one hand the price of 19 kg commercial gas cylinder was increased by Rs 993, on the other hand the price of five kg small cylinder was increased by Rs 261. However, amid all this, there was no increase in the price of 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinder. In the last one year it has increased by only Rs 60.

Bumper boom in six years

Commercial cylinder containing 19 kg LPG gas is also known as Halwai cylinder. Big restaurants and street side food vendors also use it. Six years ago, i.e. in May 2020, its price in Delhi was Rs 1144.50, which has directly increased to Rs 3071.50 in May 2026. That means the price has increased by Rs 1927 in just six years. This inflation has broken the back of businessmen.

PM Modi’s appeal to the public

During a program in Hyderabad on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the people of the country to exercise restraint in fuel consumption. Since India is largely dependent on fuel imports, there is a need to use petroleum products wisely amid the ongoing crisis in West Asia.

The global energy crisis is deepening due to the ongoing war between Iran and America and increasing tension in West Asia. The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has adversely affected the supply of crude oil, due to which India’s import bill may increase. By proper use of fuel, we can save foreign exchange, which is necessary to keep the country’s economy stable.

LPG Rate Today on May 7: On one hand, the prices of commercial LPG cylinders have been increased in the country. At the same time, there has been no change in the prices of domestic cylinders. Since May 1, the price of 19 kg cylinder in the country has now reached Rs 3,071.5. It was increased by Rs 993. In the same sequence, the price of 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinder was also increased by Rs 261 per cylinder with immediate effect.

However, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) said in a statement that there has been no change in the prices of domestic cylinders. This is the third time since the war in Iran started on February 28, that the price of commercial LPG cylinder has been increased. First, its price was increased by about Rs 115 in the beginning of March, after which on April 1, it was further increased by about Rs 200.

Why are prices different everywhere?

There are many reasons why the price of LPG gas cylinder varies from city to city, which include transportation expenses and distribution margin. Uniform GST is applicable on domestic LPG across the country, but there is still a difference in prices.

The cost of transporting gas from the bottling plant to your city and then to your home varies depending on the distance. This is why gas is often cheaper in cities near ports, such as Mumbai, while in remote or hilly areas its price becomes more expensive.

Additionally, gas agencies may have different expenses and margins in different cities. Due to this, there is a difference of a few rupees in the price of gas cylinder. Also, even though GST on gas cylinders is fixed at 5 percent, prices may change due to minor additional charges or minor differences in VAT imposed by local bodies in some states.
