What is the exam pattern of UGC NET 2026 exam?

There will be two question papers in UGC NET exam, the total marks of which will be 300. Both the question papers contain multiple choice and objective type questions. The first question paper is of 100 marks, which consists of 50 questions. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the research and educational qualifications of the candidates, with special emphasis on reasoning ability and general knowledge. The second paper is of 200 marks and contains 100 questions. It assesses the subject specific knowledge of the candidate and is based on the subjects chosen by the candidates. According to UGC, there will be no negative marking for wrong answers, while two marks will be given for the correct answer.

National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the admit card or hall ticket for the entrance exam to be held on 31 December 2025 on its official website. UGC NET examination will start from 31 December 2025 and will be held till 7 January 2026. This examination of UGC NET will be conducted completely in computer based i.e. CBT mode.
