Uttarakhand Government Announces Free Bus Travel For NEET Aspirants: The Uttarakhand government has taken a big relief decision for the students preparing for NEET UG 2026 re-exam. The state government has announced that candidates who are permanent residents of Uttarakhand appearing in the re-exam will be able to travel free in State Transport Corporation buses. This facility is being provided in view of the NEET UG re-exam to be held on June 21. Let us tell you how to get this facility and what needs to be done for it.

How can you travel for free

According to reports, students going to appear for the examination will be able to travel free of cost in ordinary class buses of the State Transport Corporation by showing their admit card. This facility will be available from two days before the exam till the exam date. Apart from this, after giving the examination, students will be able to avail the benefit of free travel till two days after the examination while returning from their examination center to their home or residence. The government believes that this will provide relief to students coming from far-flung areas from financial and travel related problems. Many candidates have to travel long distances to reach the examination centre, in such a situation this initiative can prove to be very helpful for them. This initiative of Uttarakhand government is being considered a big relief for thousands of students appearing in the examination.

Chardham Yatra: To make the Chardham Yatra safe and organized in Uttarakhand, the administration has completely implemented strict rules regarding the operation of vehicles. If you are also planning a very special trip this year, then it is very important to know these rules.

What is Green Card and why is it important?

Very few of you would be aware that Green Card is a certified document which ensures that the vehicle going on the journey is completely fit. Not only this, it also includes complete details of the vehicle’s fitness certificate, permit, tax, insurance and pollution certificate.

Know here the new rules made for vehicles

Talking about the rules made for vehicles, it is very mandatory for all commercial vehicles like tourist buses, taxis and cabs to get a green card made from the transport department before setting out on a journey. Apart from this, it is considered necessary to have both ‘Green Card’ and ‘Trip Card’ for commercial vehicles.

So, if you are traveling in your personal car or bike, then you will not need a green card in any way. But during the journey, keep this in mind that making ‘Trip Card’ for private vehicles will be considered completely mandatory.

Police administration started checking pilgrimage routes

Keeping security in mind, the Transport Department and Police Administration have started strict checking of pilgrimage routes. If any vehicle is not found to have a valid Green Card or Trip Card, it will not be allowed to enter the travel route under any circumstances.

Validity of documents: All documents like vehicle RC, driving license and insurance should be completely updated and valid during the journey.

How and where can one get a green card made?

Applicants can also apply online through the official website of Uttarakhand Transport Department. Along with this, Green Card and Trip Card can also be obtained by going to the nearest Divisional Transport Office (ARTO) and getting the vehicle inspected. Not only this, for travel registration and detailed process, you can also make a green card through the official website of Uttarakhand Tourism without any hassle.

Following the appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the Uttarakhand Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday (May 13) under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, many important and far-reaching decisions were taken regarding energy and fuel savings in the state. In view of the global circumstances, the State Government has decided to take corrective steps both at short-term and long-term levels, which will be implemented with immediate effect.

‘Economy could not recover after Covid-19’

In the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the global economy has not fully recovered after the Covid-19 pandemic. Along with this, the Russia-Ukraine war and the ongoing crisis in West Asia have put serious pressure on the international supply chain. In particular, the supply of fuel, food and fertilizers has been affected, causing countries like India to face rising costs, import dependence and economic pressure.

The Chief Minister also mentioned the appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which he has urged the citizens to contribute at the national level through small behavioral changes. In this direction, the Uttarakhand government has prepared a comprehensive strategy for energy saving and better utilization of resources in the state.

Dehradun: Cabinet meeting of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, brainstorming on many proposals including health, tourism

Promotion of work from home and public transport

Video conferencing based meetings will be given priority in government departments, so that unnecessary travel and fuel consumption can be reduced. The private sector will also be encouraged to adopt work from home. Also, common people will be motivated to use public transport more and more.

The state government has decided to celebrate ‘No Vehicle Day’ once a week. On this day, government officials and common citizens will minimize the use of private vehicles. It has also been decided to halve the number of vehicles in the vehicle fleet of the Chief Minister and Ministers. Apart from this, officers who have more than one department have been instructed to use a maximum of one vehicle in a day. Emphasis will also be laid on limited use of air conditioners in government and private buildings.

Cut down on foreign trips and promote tourism

An effective EV policy will soon be implemented in the state. Under this, 50 percent electric vehicles (EV) will be made mandatory in newly purchased government vehicles. Also, priority will be given to expansion of charging stations and networks, so that the use of electric vehicles can be promoted.

It has been decided to limit government foreign trips. Along with this, domestic tourism will be promoted under the ‘Visit My State’ campaign. Heritage, religious, wellness, rural and eco-tourism circuits will be widely promoted in the state. The system of encouraging destination weddings and single window clearance will be strengthened. NRIs will also be attracted to spend holidays in Uttarakhand.

Campaigns like ‘My India, My Contribution’ will be run

Public awareness campaigns like ‘Mera Bharat, Mera Contribution’ will be run in the state. Under ‘Made in State’, local products will be promoted and strict adherence to ‘Make in India’ rules will be ensured in government procurement. Citizens will also be made aware to limit the purchase of gold for one year.

The government will make the common people aware about the benefits of less oil food. The use of oil in schools, hospitals and government canteens will be reviewed and efforts will be made to reduce it. Hotels, dhabas and street food vendors will be motivated to adopt ‘low-oil menu’.

Promote natural farming and clean energy

Farmers will be given training in natural farming, zero budget farming and bio-inputs. Awareness regarding balanced use of fertilizers and soil health will be increased. In the area of clean energy, PNG (Piped Natural Gas) connections will be increased in mission mode. Preference will be given to the use of PNG in hotels, restaurants and government residences. Rooftop solar will be promoted under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana, while instructions have been given to the Panchayat and Rural Development Department for the expansion of cow dung gas plants.

Apart from this, to speed up the approval process of mining, solar and power projects, a high level committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary will approve the proposals within 60 days. Through all these decisions, the Uttarakhand government has clearly indicated that it is serious about energy conservation, economic balance and environmental protection, and these initiatives can have a wide impact in the times to come.

The Supreme Court has reprimanded the Uttarakhand government for not giving compensation to the widow of a doctor. The woman has been fighting a case for compensation for nine years. The woman’s husband died while on duty at the Community Health Center in 2016. The then government of that time had announced a compensation of Rs 50 lakh for the family, which has not been received yet.

According to the report of Live Law, the court said that it is angry with the Uttarakhand government that the doctor’s family is forced to fight the case for compensation for nine years, so now they should be compensated with these years interest. The court has ordered the state government to give Rs 1 crore to the victim’s family.

The bench of Justice JK Maheshwari and Justice Arvind Kumar was hearing on the special leave petition of the state government, which was filed against the decision of the Uttarakhand High Court. In the year 2018, the High Court directed the state government to compensate the victim’s family for compensation of Rs 1.99 crore. The High Court had ordered Rs 1.99 crore to the widow with 7.5 % annual interest till the verdict was pronounced from the filing of the petition. Also, the state’s Medicare Service Person and Institutions Act, 2013 was also asked to implement the provisions of the 2013 and give additional pension benefits to the family.

The Supreme Court said that even after the Chief Secretary of the state government, a compensation of Rs 50 lakh was not given to the victim’s family even after he was approved by the Chief Minister, while he was told that the approval was not received. The petitioner says that till now only one lakh rupees have been given to the family as an ex -gratia amount. The court said that in view of this, the state government is ordered that it will give this amount to the family with nine years of interest, which is made a total of one crore rupees.

During the hearing, the state government told the court that Rs 11 lakh has already been given to the family. He said that on the direction of the Supreme Court of 2021, the family was given holiday money, gratuity, GPF, family pension and GIS, while his son was also appointed as a junior assistant in the health department. After hearing the plea of the state government, the court has removed 11 lakh out of Rs 1 crore to Rs 89 lakh.

On April 20, 2016, the woman’s husband was shot dead by some attackers while on duty in Community Health Care, Jaspur. The victim’s family says that if 50 lakh rupees were given as an ex -gratia amount in 2016 itself, then they did not need to fight the case for nine years.
