Tamil Nadu Election: EVM malfunction at many booths, delay in starting of voting, know the latest situation

Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2026: Voting is underway for the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly from 7 am. However, technical glitches were seen in electronic voting machines (EVMs) at many booths, due to which there was a delay in the start of voting.

Voting delayed due to VVPAT malfunction

After complaints of malfunction of machines at many booths, election officials took immediate steps so that the voting process could resume without any interruption. Despite initial difficulties, a large number of voters were seen standing in queues across the state. Meanwhile, Municipal Administration Minister KN Nehru was seen waiting at a polling station in Thillai Nagar in Tiruchi as voting was halted briefly due to a glitch in the VVPAT.

All fake votes have been removed

Voting is going on smoothly at other booths from 7 am. Tamilisai Sundararajan, BJP candidate from Mylapore constituency, cast his vote. He also praised the preparations of the Election Commission. Speaking to IANS, Tamilisai Sundararajan said, “The preparations of the Election Commission are very good. They have ensured safe voting. Because of the SIR, almost all the fake votes have been removed. I am really happy that I have been a voter at this booth since my post-graduation days.”

Voting process is also going on in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu minister and DMK candidate Govi ​​Chezhiyan cast his vote at the polling booth set up at the Government Higher Secondary School at Cholapuram in Thanjavur.

BJP state vice president Khushboo Sundar and actor-filmmaker Sundar C. also cast their votes. Popular actor Ajit Kumar was also among the early voters.

Union Minister of State and BJP candidate from Avinashi assembly constituency L. Murugan cast his vote at a polling booth in Koyambedu area. l. Murugan said, “I have fulfilled my democratic duty. All voters should come forward and ensure 100 percent voting in this election.”

375 polling stations have been set up in Ulundurpettai Assembly.

A total of 375 polling stations have been set up in Ulundurpettai assembly constituency in Kallakurichi district, out of which 16 have been marked as sensitive and additional security arrangements have been made there. Similarly, voting is going on in Kanyakumari. A large number of people are arriving to cast their votes. Extensive security arrangements have been made during this period. Necessary facilities like drinking water and wheelchairs have also been arranged at the polling stations.

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami along with his family cast his vote at a polling booth set up at Siluvampalayam Panchayat Union Primary School in Salem.
