Bangladesh Prime Minister Tariq Rahman has chosen China and not India for his first visit. There is a lot of discussion in Pakistan regarding this. Former High Commissioner of Pakistan in New Delhi, Abdul Basit said that Tariq Rehman’s visit to China is definitely a matter of concern for India.
The former diplomat of Pakistan said that after the formation of the new government in Bangladesh, the eyes of the whole world were fixed on whether Tariq Rehman would go on a foreign tour first to India or China. Although the new PM of Bangladesh has made his first visit to Malaysia, but it is symbolic. Abdul Basit said that he has chosen to go to Beijing first between India or China. Not only this, he said that Pakistan is also very interested in Tariq Rehman’s visit to China.

Speaking to Pakistan’s ABN News, Abdul Basit said, ‘This is a matter of concern for India because we analysts were also talking about the same thing that it has to be seen whether Prime Minister Tariq Rehman Sahab goes to China first, India, Pakistan or UK. People were giving their respective assessments. We also talked about that this will be a difficult decision for Tariq Rehman Sahab and since this will be his first tour, he will take the decision carefully. Now he finally decided that I should go to China first, but he did not go to China first.

Why did Tariq Rahman visit Malaysia for the first time?

Abdul Basit said that Pakistan has great interest in Tariq Rehman’s visit to China. He said, ‘India’s interest in this is even greater because India wanted Tariq Rehman to come to India first and he was also invited for this, but the problem is that even at that time Sheikh Hasina Sahiba, who is in India, is in a dilemma.’ He further said that recently Sheikh Hasina has also written an article. That article is not as harsh about the previous government as it could have been.
