With this defeat, Team India’s dream of reaching the semi-finals was also shattered. Batting first, the Indian team scored 170 runs in 20 overs thanks to the half-century of captain Harmanpreet Kaur, but Australia achieved this target by losing 4 wickets. After the match was over, captain Harmanpreet Kaur openly expressed her views about the team’s performance.

At the presentation ceremony after the match, Harmanpreet Kaur said, ‘At the end of the day we had put a good score on the board. When I was batting, it seemed that we were scoring a little less runs, but in the last overs the batsmen batted well. Today, the batsmen from whom big innings were expected could not succeed in their attempts to score runs. Australia’s bowlers bowled as per their plan. We did not lose many wickets, but were also not able to score as many runs as were required in this match.
Questions raised on performance against big teams
Assessing the entire tournament, Harmanpreet Kaur said, ‘If I talk about the entire tournament, we did not perform well against strong teams. Your best game should come out against the best teams in the world, but we could not do that. We need to think seriously on this. Missed catches in the previous matches also hurt us. Even today we were still in the competition, but could not play as per our expected level.

Gave a big lesson to the team
Harmanpreet Kaur admitted that the Indian team has been repeating the same mistakes for a long time. He said, ‘As a team we will have to rework many things. We will have to think seriously about which strategy to play against strong teams. Many times we are in a good position in the match, but give away more runs than required in the last overs. While chasing the target, we are not able to score the required runs. This problem has been with us for a long time and now it has to be fixed as soon as possible.
