After ‘Sutlej’, another film in discussion again
Recently, after the removal of the film ‘Sutlej’ from Zee5, the discussion has once again intensified regarding the future of films made on social and ‘sensitive topics’. Meanwhile, another thought-provoking film is now waiting its way before reaching the audience.
‘The India Story: Slow Poison in Progress’, starring Kajal Aggarwal and Shreyas Talpade in lead roles, is awaiting clearance from the Censor Board (CBFC) ahead of its scheduled global theatrical release on July 24, 2026.

How is the story of the film?
This film talks about a very serious but often overlooked issue of today’s times, the increasing use of pesticides in agriculture and its impact on human health. Based on years of research, this film brings to light the dangers hidden behind the food reaching our plates and inspires the audience to think about an issue that affects the lives of crores of people.
The teaser of the film has already come into discussion due to its different and thought-provoking theme. However, due to lack of Censor Board approval, its release is still awaited.
What did the director say?
On this whole matter, the film’s director Chetan DK said, ‘This is a difficult time for those films which dare to bring out uncomfortable truths. ‘Sutlej’ being removed from the OTT platform and now ‘The India Story’ waiting for CBFC approval, is very sad as a filmmaker. Our aim has never been to create controversy, but to convey an important issue to the people through cinema.
After many years of research and hard work, our only wish is that the film gets a chance to reach the audience. We hope that ‘The India Story’ will be approved soon, so that people can watch it and form their own opinion.
Presented by Zee Studios and MIG Production and Studios, this film is directed by Chettan DK. Story and makers of the film Sagar B. Shinde has done it. Its co-producers include Swati Vinayak Saidane, Anita Jadhav, Vinayak Saidane, Kalpesh Shah, Devyani Khorate and Prem Joshi.

‘The India Story: Slow Poison in Progress’ is scheduled to be released in theaters worldwide on July 24, 2026 in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil languages, however, its release will be only after getting the approval of the Censor Board.
