In this comedy drama film released in 1994, Shahrukh played the role of ‘Sunil’, while Suchitra Krishnamurthy was seen in the role of his girlfriend ‘Anna’. Sunil and Anna’s innocent love story and wonderful chemistry was greatly appreciated by the audience. Actress Saadia Siddiqui played the role of Shahrukh’s sister ‘Nikki’ in the film. Now, 32 years after the release of ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na’, Saadia has made a big revelation.
Saadia Siddiqui had rejected the offer
In an interview given to Siddharth Kannan, Saadia Siddiqui told that she wanted to play the role of Shahrukh Khan’s girlfriend and not his sister in the film ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na’. The actress told that she had earlier rejected the offer of this film. Saadia told that when she got the offer of ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na’, she was a big fan of Shahrukh Khan and started loving him. This was the reason why she did not want to play the role of his sister.
What did Saadia Siddiqui say?
Saadia said, ‘By the time I was called for the film, I was completely in love with Shahrukh Khan. This was true love. I couldn’t see anyone else. I loved him and still do. He told that director Kundan Shah had selected him for this role after seeing him in Doordarshan’s show ‘Humrahi’. However, when she was offered the role of Shahrukh’s sister, she initially refused.

Saadia Siddiqui wanted to play the role of ‘Anna’
Saadia says, ‘Kundan Shah asked me why I did not want to do this role. I told him that I do not have the same feelings for Shahrukh. If I become his sister, real emotions will be visible in my eyes and that will impact the character. The actress told that she had even told the director that she wanted to play the role of Shahrukh’s love interest ‘Anna’ in the film. However, Kundan Shah laughed and said that she was too young for that role.
I arrived prepared the next day…
Sadia further said, ‘The next day I arrived wearing my best dress, doing makeup and curling my hair so that I could look older. But Kundan Shah laughed after seeing me and said no, you will have to play the role of sister only. You are too young to play a girlfriend. They didn’t give me any other option. Finally Saadia played the role of Shahrukh’s sister in the film and won the hearts of the audience with her acting.
Saadia Siddiqui praised Shahrukh Khan
During the interview, Saadia praised Shahrukh Khan a lot. She told that Shahrukh took great care of her during the shooting of the film. When she was sitting in the sun after shooting a beach scene, Shahrukh advised her to go to the car and rest and drink water. Saadia also told that she never expressed her feelings to Shahrukh. However, many years later, when both of them met in a dubbing studio, Shahrukh immediately recognized her.
Saadia said, ‘I thought he wouldn’t remember me, but he recognized me immediately. That moment made me very happy. I still remember that meeting. Shahrukh called me with his nose and hugged me. I still love Shahrukh. I respect him.
‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na’ had earned so many crores
Talking about ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na’, the director of this film was Kundan Shah. Actors like Deepak Tijori and Naseeruddin Shah were also seen in it. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the film did a worldwide business of Rs 5.41 crore.
