‘This is not our defeat, but opposition to women’s rights’, PM Modi said in the cabinet meeting on women’s reservation bill.

Amidst the ongoing political conflict over the Women’s Reservation Bill, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the opposition in the cabinet meeting. He clearly said that the failure of the bill in the Lok Sabha is not a defeat for the government, but a protest against the rights given to the women of the country. According to sources, PM Modi directly linked this issue to women’s empowerment and raised questions on the intentions of the opposition.

‘The opposition stands against women’s rights’
In the cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister said that not supporting the Women’s Reservation Bill is a big political mistake of the opposition. According to him, this step is like denying women their rights. He stressed that the opposition will have to suffer the consequences of this stance in the times to come.

Proposal for reservation on existing seats rejected
According to sources, the government is currently not in favor of bringing a new bill to directly implement reservation on the existing 543 seats. The government has rejected this demand of the opposition and Congress and called it political rhetoric.

‘Why was reservation not given in 50 years?’

Instructions to reach every village
PM Modi said that this message should be sent to every village of the country that the thinking of the opposition is negative towards women. He asked the leaders of the party and the government to go among the public and tell the truth on this issue.

‘Political price will have to be paid’
The Prime Minister warned that the opposition will have to bear the political loss of opposing the Women’s Reservation Bill. According to him, the public is looking at this issue seriously and it will also impact electoral politics.

Opposition accused of ‘defense politics’
It was also said in the meeting that the opposition is now trying to justify and hide its stand. According to PM Modi, this shows that the opposition itself is uncomfortable with its decision.
