Umpire Stabbed to Death: On one hand, the excitement of IPL 2026 is at its peak in India, where Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings have shown the most effective performance. But on the other hand, a case of murder of an umpire has come to light from Andhra Pradesh. This case is from Visakhapatnam, where a cricket match was being played at the local level. During this match, there was a dispute over the decision of run out and a 21 year old umpire was stabbed to death.
According to NDTV, a cricket match was being played on Sunday, in which 21-year-old Dola Ajit Babu was umpiring along with his friend Budumuri Chiranjeevi. Then a dispute broke out among the players over the decision of a run out.
Senior police officer Malleshwara Rao, who is investigating the case, said that Ajit Babu and Chiranjeevi had pacified the matter by intervening. But a spectator named Kanta Kishore got angry and abused the umpires and players.
Police say that after the match was over, 26-year-old Kanta Kishore had called the umpires to some other place to resolve the matter. According to the conversation, Ajit Babu and Chiranjeevi went to that place with some of their friends, but a new argument started there again. Kanta Kishore then took out a knife and attacked both the umpires.
Ajit Babu was stabbed in the chest and he fell on the ground on the spot. While trying to escape, Chiranjeevi also lost a lot of blood. Another person tried to intervene and was also injured. The injured were admitted to a private hospital, but due to his serious condition, Ajit Babu was admitted to Apollo Hospital. There the doctors declared him dead.
