Major irregularities have come to light in the High School and Intermediate Examination 2026 of Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council (UPMSP). After receiving two answer sheets on the same roll number in 32 districts of the state, there has been a stir in the education department and the board administration. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the UP Board has started an investigation and the results of many students have been temporarily withheld.
Issue of answer sheets found in 32 districts
UP Board’s initial investigation has revealed irregularities in 32 districts including Agra, Prayagraj, Ballia, Ghazipur, Mirzapur, Pratapgarh, Etawah, Hardoi and Mainpuri. During the investigation, it was found that the same roll number is recorded on the answer sheets of two different students. After this revelation, questions are being raised on the transparency of the examination system.
Copies of more than 94 students are under investigation
According to sources, till now the answer sheets of more than 94 candidates have been found suspicious. After the matter came to light, the UP Board immediately stopped the results of the students concerned. Besides, detailed investigation reports have been sought from all regional offices by May 30.
Disturbances in both high school and intermediate examinations
In the high school examination, maximum irregularities have been found in the districts of Prayagraj, Sitapur, Mahoba, Pratapgarh and Etawah, whereas in the intermediate examination, Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Hardoi and Etawah are said to be mainly affected. Apart from this, such cases have also been reported from Meerut, Agra, Etah, Aligarh and Jhansi areas.

Questions raised on evaluation process
After this entire matter, questions are being raised on the credibility of the evaluation process and examination of UP Board. In the initial investigation, it is feared that the answer sheet may have been tampered during the evaluation or the same roll number may have been used deliberately. However, the final conclusion will come only after the investigation report comes.
What did the UP Board Secretary say?
Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council Secretary Bhagwati Singh said that in view of the seriousness of the matter, a detailed investigation is being conducted. He said that efforts are being made to find out whether it is a technical mistake or someone’s negligence or a conspiracy. After the completion of the investigation, strict departmental and legal action will be taken against the culprits.
Exam centers may also be affected
The board administration can also make preparations to debar the respective examination centres. A special investigation team can be sent to those centers where there is a possibility of finding more irregularities. At present, the board has appealed to the students and parents to remain patient.
