Post-election drama in Tamil Nadu was seen late on Friday night (May 8, 2026) when TVK Chief Vijay was to take oath on Saturday (May 9, 2026), but VCK backed out at the last moment. After this, Governor Rajendra Arlekar had to delay the announcement of the official swearing-in. Meanwhile, according to information received from sources, the Congress Party has shifted its five MLAs from Chennai to Bengaluru.
According to reports, Governor Arlekar is still waiting for the letter of support from VCK. Whereas before this, Vijay went to Raj Bhavan for the third time and met the Governor and handed him the letter of support of 116 MLAs. However, the figure of 2 is still less than the majority required for the government.
Earlier it was being said that VCK and IUML had supported TVK, due to which the number of Vijay’s alliance had now reached 121. On this basis, there was talk of Vijay taking oath at 11 am on Saturday (May 9), but there was another turn of events when IUML denied the news of supporting TVK and said that it will remain with DMK.

Raj Bhavan said that the Governor’s office will announce the swearing-in ceremony only after receiving the formal support letter from VCK. The party will decide on supporting TVK on Saturday (May 9).

AMMK General Secretary said something surprising
AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran said, ‘I am supporting AIADMK. I have submitted this letter in support of Edappadi Palaniswami to form the government. Our MLA Kamaraj has also signed it and sent it through my secretary. When I saw the TVK, I was surprised because there was some other letter there, perhaps a fake letter or it could be horse-trading by MLAs.
He said, ‘I called my MLA, but could not contact him. He signed this letter at around 6:30 pm and sent it here. When I saw on TV that our party had supported Vijay, I was surprised. So I took an appointment to meet the Governor and handed him the letter and requested him to investigate the matter. I think it is fake or a case of horse-trading among MLAs. They should not allow this.
