Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in mission mode regarding the assembly elections in West Bengal. Last week, by issuing a charge sheet against the Mamata government, BJP tried to corner it on corruption and law and order. Now BJP is going to bring before the public through the resolution letter what will be the roadmap of the party for the development of the state after the formation of the government. Next week, the party may release a resolution letter regarding West Bengal, in which special focus will be on youth, women and state government employees.
What will be BJP’s strategy regarding Bengal?
BJP is preparing to further sharpen its election strategy in Bengal. The party’s focus is on the government employees of the state and the issue of long pending Dearness Allowance (DA) is likely to be at the center of its upcoming manifesto.
According to sources, the party is set to implement the 7th Pay Commission within 45 days of government formation and promises to pay DA dues. The DA gap remains a big issue in the state, where central government employees are getting around 56% DA while state employees under the TMC government are getting around 22% DA. The Supreme Court has also intervened on this issue. While directing partial payment of dues, the court had asked the state government to present a roadmap for the remaining payment. However, there remains dissatisfaction among employees due to lack of clarity regarding implementation.
Reaching out to government employees is being considered a big strategy of BJP, because there are around 20 lakh posts of government employees in the state, out of which around 14 to 15 lakh are government employees at present. With this announcement a large number of government employees can join the party. Along with this, BJP can also announce to fill the remaining vacant posts soon, so that the youth can be associated with it by promising them employment.
Party can make many promises for women and youth
Apart from this, many welfare and development related promises are also likely to be included in the BJP manifesto. The party is going to make a big announcement for women. There are preparations to announce Laxmi Bhandar Scheme for them. A monthly allowance of Rs 3,000 may be announced for the beneficiaries of Lakshmi Bhandar Yojana and this may include financial assistance of Rs 3,000 under the Yuva Sathi program for unemployed youth.
BJP is planning to make Singur an industrial hub
The special thing is that the party is planning to make special provisions to develop Singur as a big industrial hub. This could include setting up industrial zones, expediting land allocation with a clear legal framework and incentives to attract MSMEs and large investors. There will also be an emphasis on restoring investor confidence, improving logistics connectivity and creating employment for local youth. Singur, which was once a symbol of stagnant industrialization, can now become a center of development under the new industrial policy.
