A 2-match Test series is to be played between Pakistan and West Indies from 25th July (Saturday). But before the start of the series, West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph refused to play. Team head coach Daren Sammy said that this is a big loss for the team. The first match will be played at Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad.

Sammy said about Alzarri Joseph before the start of the series, “Mr Joseph refused the selection. This is the truth of the situation. He was selected. He is now coming back from injury and due to the reasons that followed, he has turned down the selection.

Decision left to directors

The coach further said, “This decision is beyond my understanding. I leave it to the directors to find a solution so that players with contracts can refuse selection.”

While announcing the squad, it was said in the release from the West Indies Board that Alzarri Joseph is not available due to personal reasons. But now the coach has revealed something else.

Alzarri Joseph troubled by back injury

Alzarri had missed the tour of India and New Zealand due to back injury. However, he made a comeback through the Test series against Sri Lanka, where he took 6 wickets. After this he took part in the five-match ODI series against New Zealand. But now he refused to play against Pakistan.

If we look at the international career of Alzarri Joseph, till now he has played 42 Tests, 88 ODIs and 45 T20 Internationals. He took 130 wickets in 79 innings of Test. Apart from this, Alzarri took 141 wickets in 85 innings of ODI. In the remaining 44 innings of T20 International, the West Indies fast bowler took 62 wickets. In T20 International, his economy was 9.24 and best figures were 5/40.
