What did captain Rituraj Gaikwad say after the defeat in the ‘do or die’ match against SRH? Who was held responsible?

Chennai Super Kings lost by 5 wickets in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday. Chennai fought well while defending 180 runs, the match was not in favor of any one team till the last overs but in the end SRH won the match. While discussing the defeat after the match, Rituraj Gaikwad said that we could not capitalize on some opportunities.

Ruturaj Gaikwad said, “It was a good game. We were in the match till the last overs. It was a good pitch for T20 cricket. The behavior of the pitch remained the same throughout the match, we just could not take advantage of a few opportunities, the opportunities which we could have capitalized on. Well, looking at our team and the limited squad, I am proud of our team and I believe that our team performed well. There were many positives for us in it.”

Gaikwad praised Sanju Samson’s performance and said, “He (Sanju) is playing very well for us. We were playing without some of our important players. It depends on many things. Today every player gave his full effort and I am proud of it. Our fans support us in every good and bad time. Our team’s performance this year has been much better than the previous edition.”

Ishan Kishan received POTM Award

With the help of important innings of Dewald Brevis (44), Karthik Sharma (32), Chennai Super Kings reached 180 runs, which was a good total on this pitch. While chasing the target, after Travis Head (6), Abhishek Sharma (26) was also out early, but then the partnership of Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen tilted the match in favor of SRH.

Heinrich Klaasen scored 47 runs in 26 balls, although in the end Chennai Super Kings remained in the match due to good bowling. But Ishan Kishan’s brilliant innings took the match away from CSK. Ishaan scored 70 runs in 47 balls, in which he hit 3 sixes and 7 fours. When he was out, SRH was on the verge of victory and needed 6 runs from 9 balls. Ravichandran Smaran hit the winning four on the last ball of the 19th over.
