Islamabad MoU: Amidst increasing tensions with America, Iran has currently stopped all its responsibilities under the Islamabad Agreement (Islamabad MoU). This decision of Iran has also received a strong reaction from Pakistan. Pakistan’s security affairs expert and geopolitical analyst Ali K. Chishti called it a “reckless and dangerous decision.” He says that this will increase tension in the entire region and the people of Iran will suffer the most.
Iran’s full withdrawal from the Islamabad MoU is a reckless and dangerous move. Instead of honoring a Pakistan-brokered deal that offered sanctions relief, oil export waivers, and a path to de-escalation, Tehran chooses confrontation and isolation again. This is not strength,…

What reason did Iran give for withdrawing from the agreement?
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Garibabadi told Fars News Agency that America violated the Islamabad Agreement during the talks itself. In such a situation, Iran is now taking necessary steps for its security. Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Bakai said that Iran will abide by this agreement only when America also abides by its conditions. He clearly said that the agreement cannot be applicable to only one party.
What did the Pakistani expert say?
Pakistan’s security expert Ali K. Chishti wrote on social media that Iran’s complete withdrawal from the Islamabad Agreement is a very wrong decision. According to him, this agreement could have reduced the tension between the two countries, Iran could have got relief from sanctions, there would have been relaxation in oil exports and the path for negotiations would have remained open. He said that choosing the path of war is not a matter of strength, but a step which will increase oil prices, spread instability in the entire region and the common people of Iran will suffer the most.
Trump had already declared the agreement over
US President Donald Trump had said during the NATO summit on July 8 that the Islamabad Agreement is now over. He cited the growing dispute with Iran over the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz as the reason for this.
Tension increases again between America and Iran
On Saturday, the US carried out air strikes on several military bases and logistics centers in central and southern parts of Iran. These included the areas around Yazd and Ahwaz. In response, Iran launched retaliatory attacks on US military bases in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan.
60 day ceasefire also broken
In the Islamabad Agreement, it was agreed to stop the fighting for 60 days, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and start talks for a permanent solution. But now attacks between the two countries have started again. In such a situation, this agreement seems to be almost ending and the tension in the entire Middle East has once again increased rapidly.
