The record of making the biggest opening partnership in the history of Test cricket is held in the name of Neil McKenzie and Graeme Smith of South Africa. African batsmen had made this record against Bangladesh. These days, in the third Test between England and New Zealand, Kiwi team openers Tom Latham and Devon Conway made an opening partnership of 317 runs, due to which the record of the biggest opening partnership came into discussion.

So let us tell you that the record of the biggest partnership between McKenzie and Smith was set on 29 February 2008 in Chattogram, Bangladesh, in which McKenzie scored 170 runs and Smith scored 232 runs. 18 years have passed since this record was set. The record of making the biggest partnership in the history of Test cricket is held in the name of Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene. Sri Lankan players had made a partnership of 624 runs for the third wicket in the Test match against South Africa on 27 July 2006, in which Jayawardene contributed 309 runs and Sangakkara contributed 285 runs. 20 years have passed since this record was set. Now it will be interesting to see when and which team’s batsman breaks this record.
