Who is Abhishek Porel?
Abhishek Porel is a resident of Chandannagar, West Bengal and represents Bengal in domestic cricket. He is the cousin of fast bowler Ishan Porel. After his brilliant performance in junior cricket, he got a place in the East Zone Under-19 team, where he made his mark with his wicket-keeping and aggressive batting. Abhishek made his debut in domestic cricket for Bengal in the year 2022. After this he performed consistently well in first class and List-A cricket. So far, he has scored 1408 runs in 32 first class matches, while he has 833 runs in his name in 22 List-A matches.
Got IPL opportunity as replacement for Rishabh Pant
After the road accident of Rishabh Pant in the year 2023, Delhi Capitals included Abhishek Porel in the team as a replacement player. While making his IPL debut against Gujarat Titans, he left his mark by playing a quick inning of 20 runs in 11 balls. Impressed by his performance, Delhi Capitals also retained him as an uncapped player.
