England all-rounder Moeen Ali decided to play in Pakistan Super League instead of Indian Premier League this time. Moeen Ali says that he wants to enjoy cricket at this age, but he does not get a chance to play many matches in the Indian Premier League. Their helplessness is clearly visible in this. Everyone knows that there is more competition in the Indian Premier League, big cricketers of the world play in it, in such a situation it is impossible for everyone to play in the playing 11. Apart from this, Ali feels that PSL is a small tournament, due to which he does not stay away from his family for long.
Why is Moeen Ali leaving IPL and playing in PSL?
Moeen Ali said in ARY Podcast, “For many reasons I decided to leave IPL. I am 38 years old, but I want to keep playing cricket. I want to prolong my cricket career as much as possible. Karachi is one of the reasons why I am here. It is a small league, which is also good from a family point of view. I played half the matches in the IPL last year. I got a chance to bat only twice.”

Moeen Ali said, “I want to get on the field at this time of my career. I believe that I am playing good cricket right now. Places are not guaranteed anywhere, not even here (PSL). But I want to play as much as I can. I always wanted to play in the Pakistan Super League but the problem was that its schedule clashes a bit with the IPL.”

Moeen Ali’s IPL career
Ali was in Kolkata Knight Riders last year, but he got a chance to play in only 6 matches and batted only 2 times. Earlier he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2018 to 2020 and Chennai Super Kings from 2021 to 2024. He played a total of 73 matches for 3 teams in IPL, scoring 1167 runs in 59 innings and taking 41 wickets.
