Whenever the Indian Premier League season comes, England players come into limelight due to their withdrawal from the season. Harry Brook has refused to play not once but twice after being bought in the auction. According to the new rules of BCCI, Harry Brook will not be able to play in IPL till 2027. But why Brook is not willing to play in the world’s biggest league, he himself has revealed the biggest reason.
Harry Brook is currently the captain of England’s ODI and T20 team. He says that captaining the England team in two formats and playing for his country in all three formats is his first priority. Harry Brook played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023.
Why not play in IPL?
On not playing in the IPL, Harry Brook said, “According to me, playing in the IPL is a great experience. Whatever time I spent in the IPL, it was a good experience. Unfortunately, I am not at that stage of my career where I can think about playing in the IPL. Personally speaking, playing in all three formats, captaining two teams, that is what I am currently busy with.”
Harry Brook said that when IPL is being played, it is the best time to take a break of 3 months, and at the same time he can also work on his fitness.

Banned from IPL for 2 years
Harry Brook has played only one season in IPL. In IPL 2023, he scored 190 runs in 11 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Let us also tell you that Brook is currently facing a 2-year ban from IPL. Delhi Capitals bought him for Rs 6.25 crore in the 2025 mega auction, but they withdrew their name before the start of the season. This was a violation of the new BCCI rules, due to which Brook was banned from the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
