Before the Punjab Assembly elections, the troubles of Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal seem to be increasing. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Punjab Police, which is probing the 2015 Behbal Kalan police firing case, has issued a notice to him asking him to appear for questioning.
Sukhbir Badal has already appeared before the SIT in connection with the investigation of sacrilege cases of 2015. This case is related to police firing on the protesters who were protesting against the incidents of sacrilege. Two protesters were killed in this firing that took place in Behbal Kalan of Kotkapura.
SIT will interrogate Sukhbir Badal on Monday. Recently, the investigation has taken a new turn after the statement given by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vijay Sampla before the SIT. Sampla has denied his signature on the representation given to the Governor along with Sukhbir Badal in the sacrilege case.
Punjab Chief Minister Mann said: With the support of the public, the journey of making Punjab number one in every field will continue.
At the same time, investigation has also revealed that before taking action against the protesters, the then Chief Minister, Home Minister and DGP had a conversation with former Akali MLA Mantar Brar. In such a situation, political and legal turmoil has intensified in this matter.
What did Sukhbir Singh Badal say?
Meanwhile, Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa also targeted the Punjab government and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over this entire incident. Randhawa said, ‘I want to ask Bhagwant Mann that for more than four years everyone kept saying that this family was involved in sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib, then why did the government remember this now, when its tenure is about to end? Why was Sukhbir Badal not summoned even once in all these years? L.K. Where did the Yadav Committee report go? After all, what will the Chief Minister of Punjab do in this matter?
Punjab SIR: SIR will run till August 8 in Punjab, final voter list will be released on October 12
Badal also reacted to the SIT notice. He said that whenever I am called, I will go but I appeal to the government to stop this drama. Now politics is being done on this.
