One match was played in London and the other in Belfast. Within a few minutes both the Indian teams lost their respective matches. On one hand, Ireland has won the series from India for the first time in Men’s T20 International cricket, on the other hand, Team India is out of the Women’s World Cup. Both the defeats were heartbreaking, which was nothing less than a ‘black day’ for the Indian team.
Men’s team lost in the last over
First, if we talk about Men’s T20 cricket, the teams of India and Ireland came face to face in Belfast. The Irish team had won the first match by 34 runs and in the second match, batting first, they had scored 154 runs. From captain Shreyas Iyer, Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson to big names flopped. Tilak Verma played a half-century inning of 55 runs, but was out after playing an unwise shot.
The match continued till the last over, in which India had to score 20 runs. Harshit Rana was at the crease and Harry Tector was in front. The first mistake made by Harshit Rana was that he could not hit a six or a four on a no-ball, that too a full toss. At the same time, giving a single run to Arshdeep on the third ball also proved costly for the Indian team. As a result India lost the match by 1 run. Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy career started with a shameful series defeat.

India out of World Cup
On the other hand, the Indian women’s team was fighting for the semi-finals at Lord’s Ground in London. To reach the semi-finals, it had to restrict 6-time champion Australia to a score of 169 or less. The Kangaroo team won by 6 wickets and made it to the semi-finals of the 2026 T20 World Cup. With this India was out of the World Cup. In the 19 years of World Cup history, India has never been able to lift the T20 World Cup trophy.
