40 wickets fell in one match, England’s historic victory in the 150th test, Ben Stokes created history.

England has defeated New Zealand by 115 runs in the Lord’s Test. New Zealand had a target of 254 runs in the fourth innings, but in reply the Kiwi team could score only 38 runs. This was the 150th Test match played at Lord’s ground, in which Ben Stokes has created history by winning as captain.

Ben Stokes has now equaled Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss in the list of England’s most successful Test captains. This was Ben Stokes’s 24th Test win as captain. Strauss and Cook also won 24 test matches for England as captain. The captain who has won the most Tests for England is Joe Root, under whose captaincy England won 27 matches.

40 wickets in a match

It has rarely been seen in recent times that all 40 wickets have fallen in a Test match. England had scored 140 runs and 226 runs in the first and second innings respectively. Whereas New Zealand scored 113 runs and 138 runs in their first and second innings respectively. The bowler who took the most wickets in the match was Nathan Smith of New Zealand, who took 9 wickets in both the innings combined. Whereas for England, Ollie Robinson and Gus Atkinson took 7-7 wickets.

England won the 150th test

Lord’s ground is the stadium that has hosted the most number of Test matches in history. In the 150th Test at Lord’s, England’s first innings was reduced to 140 runs. New Zealand was able to score 113 runs in the first innings, giving England a slight lead of 27 runs, which proved to be very important later on.

England’s middle and lower order flopped in the second innings too, but thanks to Ben Duckett’s 33 runs and Emilio Gay’s 57 runs, England scored 226 runs in the second innings. On the basis of lead in the first innings, England gave a target of 254 runs to New Zealand. Devon Conway scored 41 runs and Glenn Phillips tried his best to keep New Zealand in the match by playing innings of 44 runs, but could not avoid defeat.
