Repolling Sum Up On Falta Assembly Seat: After the cancellation of voting held on April 29 in Falta assembly constituency, voting was held again on Thursday (May 21, 2026). Voting has been completed amid tight security arrangements. The Election Commission had considered irregularities in the voting of April 29 and canceled it and ordered re-polling. At the same time, according to the Election Commission data, there has been bumper voting on Falta seat. Voting has stopped at present. This time 87.73 percent voting took place in the repoll.
Earlier, the Election Commission had said that till 3 pm, 74.1 percent voting had taken place for Falta seat.
According to the Election Commission, this time strong deployment of central paramilitary forces was made at all the 285 polling stations of Falta assembly constituency. Eight CAPF personnel were deployed at each booth, whereas during the April 29 polling, only four personnel were deployed at each booth.
This time central forces of about 35 companies were deployed in the entire area. 30 quick response teams were also kept ready to deal with any kind of disturbance. Also, web cameras were installed inside every booth and an additional camera outside.

During this, live webcasting of the entire voting process was done. The election process was monitored by the district administration and the Chief Electoral Officer.
Earlier, TMC candidate Jahangir Khan had announced his withdrawal from contesting the elections. He had said that he took this decision after the announcement of the special package by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. He also said that his dream was to build a “Golden Falta” and establish peace in the area.
I will win by one lakh votes
Whereas BJP candidate Debangshu Panda has claimed a big victory in re-polling. He said that BJP will win Falta seat by a margin of one to one and a half lakh votes. Panda alleged that during the first voting, there were huge irregularities at many booths. He claimed that at some places sellotape was put on BJP’s election symbol and an attempt was made to influence the voting process by rotating the cameras. BJP had demanded re-polling from the Election Commission regarding these complaints, after which the Commission took the decision of re-polling. Now the eyes of the entire state are fixed on Falta, where voters will exercise their franchise today amidst tight security and political allegations and counter-allegations.
