Yuvraj Singh and especially Stuart Broad will probably never forget the date of September 19, 2007. Because on this day in the 2007 T20 World Cup, Yuvraj Singh had hit 6 sixes in a single over. But Andrew Flintoff had a hand in the ‘backstage story’ of that incident. Now Flintoff has admitted that he had crossed the limits in his altercation with Yuvraj.

During the discussion on Beard Before Wicket podcast, Andrew Flintoff revealed that he and Yuvraj often used to taunt each other in a humorous manner. He admitted that he was getting angry during the World Cup match and had crossed the limits.

I’m overboard…

Andrew Flintoff said, “Me and Yuvraj used to take a dig at each other, but it was all in good fun. He is a very nice person. By the time the World Cup match against India came, my ankle had given way. That was probably my last match. I was getting angry and I crossed the limit. It was one of the few occasions in my career when I did that. After that he hit Stuart Broad for 6 sixes. Gave. I should have been in his place.”

Yuvraj looked at me…

Andrew Flintoff further said, “When he hit the first six, he was looking at me. I was fielding on the boundary. I thought it was low. After that, after hitting the second six, he looked at me again. When the fifth six was hit, I also wanted him to complete 6 sixes (laughs).”

In that match, Yuvraj Singh had completed fifty in just 12 balls. Even today, this is the fastest half-century scored by a player from any ICC full member country.
