The fifth generation J-35 fighter jet has been the most talked about arms deal between Pakistan and China. There have been many reports in which it has been said that Pakistan wants to buy 40 J-35 fighter jets from China. However, till now both the countries have not signed any contract regarding any deal. China wants Pakistan to either use their jets or keep American planes only.
According to the report of The Diplomat, Pakistan and India do not have fifth generation fighter jets. In such a situation, Pakistan’s purchase of 40 J-35 jets will give it an edge over India. However, this possibility is also less because China does not want a major change in the balance of power at present. China has provided large-scale military assistance to Pakistan in the last decade. China has been trying to pit Pakistan against India.
For the last decade, a different kind of rivalry has been going on between China and America, which is being called the new cold war. Although Pakistan is one of China’s most important partners, it would be short-sighted for Beijing to ignore Pakistan’s close ties with the US.
How many F-16 does Pakistan have?
Let us tell you that Pakistan has 75 American F-16 fighter jets. These aircraft require regular maintenance, which can only be done by American technicians. In such a situation, the presence of American technicians remains constant at the Pakistani airbase. These also include the bases where J-35 will be deployed.
Why is China not providing J-35?
American interference in Pakistani military bases increases the concern about leakage of Chinese technology to a great extent. Leaking of J-35 technology from Pakistan may give America and its allies an edge over China in future wars. China knows that such a situation can have serious consequences for it.
China wants that when Pakistan buys J-35, there should not be American F-16 in their military bases. In such a situation, at present there is little possibility of China selling J-35 to Pakistan. It is also true that Pakistani pilots have taken training to fly this Chinese fighter jet.
