Mohammed Shami was last seen playing for the Indian team in the Champions Trophy final. After that he could not get a place in the Test, T20 and ODI team also. Mohammed Shami is currently playing for Bengal in Ranji Trophy, whose second match is going on with Gujarat. Shami had dismissed 3 batsmen of Gujarat in the first innings. Shami has so far taken 10 wickets in only three innings of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season.
RP Singh met Mohammed Shami
On Sunday, the second day of the Bengal vs Gujarat match, RP Singh, one of the new selectors of Team India, met Mohammed Shami. According to a report published in Sportskeeda, RP Singh was present at Eden Gardens on Sunday. After the end of the second day’s play, he talked to Mohammed Shami. This meeting of the two has come at a time when the topic of ‘Shami vs Agarkar’ has been much discussed in the past.
Shami is proving Ajit Agarkar wrong
Team India’s Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar said that due to not being completely fit, Shami did not get a chance in the Test series against West Indies. But Shami is not only bowling long spells for Bengal in Ranji Trophy but is also taking wickets at a rapid rate.
In the match against Uttarakhand, Shami bowled 39.3 overs in both the innings and took 7 wickets in the match. Now in the first innings against Gujarat, he bowled 18.3 overs and took 3 wickets.
