Some films are liked by the audience while some films get embroiled in controversies even before their release and people come out on the streets to ban the films. Today we have brought a list of those films whose titles caused so much controversy that the makers had to change the name. This list includes names from Akshay Kumar to Deepika Padukone.
Laxmi
Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Lakshmi’, released on 9 November 2020, was in controversies. The controversy regarding the film had increased so much that people took to the streets to get the film banned. The name of the film itself remained the subject of controversy. Earlier the name of the film was ‘Lakshmi Bomb’. Due to linking the name of Goddess Lakshmi with bomb, some political parties had demanded to ban the film, but later the word ‘Bomb’ was removed from the film.
padmavat
No one can forget the controversy of Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor starrer film ‘Padmavat’. There was so much protest against the film that Bajrang Dal reached the sets of the film and vandalized it. Some political parties alleged that historical facts were tampered with in the film, however, after making some changes in the film, the name of the film was changed from ‘Padmavati’ to ‘Padmavat’.
Ram Leela – Ram Leela
Film maker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela – Ram-Leela’ proved to be a hit on screen, but the makers had to work hard to release the film on screen. The film was opposed because of the name of Lord Ram in its name. Later the name of the film had to be changed. Earlier the name of the film was only ‘Ramlila’.
billu
The film ‘Billu’, released in 2009, was also in controversies because of its name. Earlier the name of the film was ‘Billu Barber’. People protested against Barber, because people believed that the title of the film was targeting a particular community. The makers changed the name of the film in view of the controversy.
R Rajkumar
Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha’s film ‘R Rajkumar’ was released in 2013. There was controversy regarding the word ‘Rambo’ in the film. Legal notices were also issued against the film, after which the title of the film was changed to ‘R Rajkumar’.

Ayush Sharma and Warina Hussain’s film ‘Loveyatri’, released in 2018, was also in controversies regarding its name. The first name of the film was ‘Loveratri’, but the name of the film was similar to the Hindu festival Navratri, due to which people protested against the film.
