Ramesh Sippy made an action thriller film after Sholay to increase his power. In which top stars were seen. The name of this film is Shaan. According to the report of DNA, Ramesh Sippy wanted to bring back the star cast of Sholay once again. He had asked Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar and Hema Malini to play the main roles. Amitabh Bachchan had said yes to the film but everyone else had refused.

When the rest of the star cast of Sholay refused to do the film, Rakhi Gulzar, Parveen Babi, Sunil Dutt, Shashi Kapoor, Bindiya Goswami, Johnny Walker and Kulbhushan Kharbanda were cast along with Amitabh Bachchan. Due to such a big star cast, this film had become very expensive.

Shaan was written by Salim-Javed. This film was released in theaters on 12 December 1980. When this film was ready, its budget was 6 crores which was double that of Sholay. This was the most expensive Indian film of that time. This film could not live up to people’s expectations. This film had collected Rs 4.50 crore at the box office. She could not even figure out her budget. There were negative reviews about the film which had an impact on the box office.
