Often you must have noticed that sometimes a small pimple or boil appears on the skin, which is red or white in color. In the beginning it seems very trivial. In which only slight itching or burning is felt. But if that pimple starts growing, starts causing pain or gets filled with pus, then this small problem becomes a hair loss. Many people ignore it considering it a small thing, but do you know that sometimes even this minor boil can take a serious form. So let us know what is hair plucking, at which stage it can become dangerous and can it also cause death?
What is hair breakage and what are its main causes?
Hair break or boil is a skin infection, which occurs in the hair root i.e. hair follicle. When for some reason bacteria or fungus enters the hair root, swelling and pus starts forming there. It looks like a pimple, but is slightly larger and painful. Hair breakage can occur in any part of the body. Like near the neck, back, thighs, armpits, but not on the palms and soles.
This problem is mostly caused by a bacteria called Staphylococcus aureus. This bacteria is normally present on our skin, but when it goes inside the skin, it spreads infection. Some common reasons for this are frequent shaving or waxing, wearing tight clothes that prevent air from entering, excessive sweating and not maintaining cleanliness, diabetes or a weak immune system.
At which stage does this problem occur?
1. First Stage – Initially hair breakage appears as a small red rash. There is slight itching or burning, but the pain is not very severe. If cleanliness is maintained at this stage and hot water fomentation is done, then it can be cured on its own.
2. Second stage – Gradually, pus starts filling inside the rash. The area appears red and swollen, and the pain increases when touched. Sometimes fever or weakness may also be felt. This may require medicine or antiseptic.
3. Third Stage – If the boil is not treated, the infection can spread deeper. A sac of pus forms under the skin, which is called skin abscess. It is very painful and sometimes one has to go to the hospital to have the pus removed.
Can plucking hair cause death?
In most cases, hair plucking does not lead to death, because it is a common skin infection. But, if the infection goes deep and is not treated, it can cause blood infection or abscess spreading under the skin, which is a serious condition. Its risk increases in case of diabetes, weak immunity, or chronic infection. Although this condition is very rare, but if timely attention is not given, it can lead to serious problems.
